The cuckoo search(CS) algorithm combined with the conjugate gradient method(CGM) is developed to solve the inverse geometry problem. The direct problem is transient heat conduction in functionally graded ***,the radial integration boundary element method(RIBEM) is applied to solve the direct problem. Then, the initial unknown boundary shapes are generated randomly and the best initial boundary can be obtained by the CS algorithm. Then, the CGM is adopted to minimize the objective function. Finally, the influences of timepoints, measurement point number and random noise on the inverse results are investigated. The results show that CS-CGM has higher accuracy and faster convergence speed than the CS algorithm. With the increase of the measurement point number and with the decrease of measurement noise, the inverse results become more accurate. Therefore,thepresent method can be used to identify the inner wall of furnaces and pipelines in engineering.

Comparison of CS,CGM and CS-CGM for Prediction of Pipe’s Inner Surface in FGMs
