Understanding and improving fairness in cognitive diagnosis

intelligent education is a significant application of artificial intelligence. One of the key research topics in intelligence education is cognitive diagnosis, which aims to gauge the level of proficiency among students on specific knowledge concepts(e.g., Geometry). To the best of our knowledge, most of the existing cognitive models primarily focus on improving diagnostic accuracy while rarely considering fairness issues; for instance, the diagnosis of students may be affected by various sensitive attributes(e.g., region). In this paper,we aim to explore fairness in cognitive diagnosis and answer two questions:(1) Are the results of existing cognitive diagnosis models affected by sensitive attributes?(2) If yes, how can we mitigate the impact of sensitive attributes to ensure fair diagnosis results? To this end, we first empirically reveal that several wellknown cognitive diagnosis methods usually lead to unfair performances, and the trend of unfairness varies among different cognitive diagnosis models. Then, we make a theoretical analysis to explain the reasons behind this phenomenon. To resolve the unfairness problem in existing cognitive diagnosis models, we propose a general fairness-aware cognitive diagnosis framework, FairCD. Our fundamental principle involves eliminating the effect of sensitive attributes on student proficiency. To achieve this, we divide student proficiency in existing cognitive diagnosis models into two components: bias proficiency and fair *** design two orthogonal tasks for each of them to ensure that fairness in proficiency remains independent of sensitive attributes and take it as the final diagnosed result. Extensive experiments on the Program for International Student Assessment(PISA) dataset clearly show the effectiveness of our framework.

伴随着智能技术尤其是GPT等生成式人工智能的飞速发展，人与技术在教育领域的互构不断增强。一方面，技术的快速迭代发展促使机器不断“人化”，甚至作为行动主体参与到教育当中，不仅重新构建了“人—技术—世界”的关系，而且导致技术在教育中的角色逐渐以“教学工具”向“教育行动者”转变，并通过“技术凝视主体”的方式对学生进行引导与塑造。另一方面，技术在教育中的深度介入导致人的“机器化”加剧，体现为：被技术嵌入的教育主体从“自然人”向“赛博格”转变，人类认识形式从身体感知向机器感知转变，人的主体价值被智能技术划界与规定。为破解智能时代技术带来的主体性危机，应以“培养人”为意向坚守教育的价值指向，使技术意向性与教育目的性相统一；以“否定性”为奇点透视教育主体的人机之别，着力培养学生的反思与批判能力；以“创变”为核心培养学生的新型创造力，使学生在具身认知与机器感知下形成创变能力；以“善智”为目标构建教育中的人机互动，使教育技术在高效应用的同时能被有效规范。

人工智能推动了智能教育的快速发展，展现出人机协同的实践特征。但人机协同学习作为智能教育的重要组成部分，已经呈现出怎样的实践形态、透过现象彰显出怎样的本质却鲜有研究探讨。为了技术更好地服务教育、服务人的发展，研究对智能时代的人机协同学习实践进行深入剖析。首先，综合相关文献和实践发现，人的认知活动与机器智能产生了千丝万缕的联系，人机协同学习在实践中已呈现出知识导学、互动对话、智能增强三大形态。其次，透过现象看本质，研究从人机构成的学习双主体协同结构中揭示出人机协同学习三个重要本质内容：一是人机协同学习意味着人类认知与人工认知的协同混合；二是人机交互技术的应用为人机协同认知搭建了流畅的通道；三是人机互惠构成人机有效协同的关键。最后，研究提出两点发展建议，即在技术层面以人机交互与人机互惠为着力点提升技术设计，在实践层面以学习科学与以人为本为基本遵循规范实践过程。

The fifth generation mobile networks（5G） has become a leader of the new generation of mobile communication technology. It has the characteristics of ultra-large broadband, super-large connection low energy consumption, ultra-low delay high reliability and so on. In the 5G era, the entire industry is experiencing a digital transformation, from "being connected with each other" to being connected with all things, which brings loads of opportunities to all fields. 5G technology and the other new technologies together create multiple application scenarios for intelligent education. This paper makes an in-depth study on how 5G service contributes to the educational informatization. 5G has a great influence on the core links of education covering teaching mode, teaching methods and education management. Therefore, it is more than just changing the traditional teaching mode. It’s promoting the reform of intelligent education, to a certain extent.

多模态数据融合旨在利用不同模态数据之间的信息互补机制提升数据分析的准确性，实现对学习主体和学习情境的精准刻画，进而还原教学过程全貌，挖掘深层次的教育规律，其已逐渐成为智能教育领域重要的技术方法和研究思想。智能教育领域常见的多模态数据类型包括外在行为表征数据、内在神经生理信息数据、人机交互数据以及学习情境感知数据。多模态数据的融合策略主要包括数据级融合、特征级融合和决策级融合，在数据分析的不同阶段选取恰当的融合策略，可以提升数据分析的准确性。在智能教育领域，多模态数据融合主要应用在人机交互分析、学习者情绪识别、学习投入分析、学业表现预测、学习情境感知五个方面。充分发挥多模态数据在学习过程感知和建模中的核心作用，可以实现对学习过程的有效还原和对学习规律的科学解释。多模态数据融合充分体现了基于数据密集型科学的教育科学研究范式变革，未来应着力于面向多元学习主体和学习情境的全时空多维度数据采集、基于多模态数据融合的学习者认知发展规律研究、基于多模态数据感知与融合的智能教育产品研发以及多模态数据采集的技术伦理问题等四个方面，构建智能时代教育科学研究的新样态。

Cognitive diagnosis,which aims to diagnose students’knowledge proficiency,is crucial for numerous online education applications,such as personalized exercise *** methods in this area mainly exploit students’exercising records,which ignores students’full learning process in online education ***,the latent relation of exercises with course structure and texts is still *** this paper,a learning behavior-aware cognitive diagnosis(LCD)framework is proposed for students’cognitive modeling with both learning behavior records and exercising *** concept of LCD was first introduced to characterize students’knowledge proficiency more ***,a course graph was designed to explore rich information existed in course texts and ***,an interaction function was put forward to explore complex relationships between students,exercises and *** experiments on a real-world dataset prove that LCD predicts student performance more effectively,the output of LCD is also interpretable.

伴随着第四次工业革命的到来，教育系统与全球经济社会的现实需求越来越脱节，需要一个新的教育框架和模式以培养符合未来社会需求的人才。在2020年1月世界经济论坛(World Economic Forum)发布的《未来学校：为第四次工业革命定义新的教育模式》之报告中，描述了教育4.0的全球框架、特征和方法，以案例方式展现了向教育4.0过渡的16所学校的教育模式。这一《报告》对我国的教育决策者和学校领导具有五个方面的启示：把握第四次工业革命和教育4.0的内在联系，达成教育4.0共识；利用新技术构建全新、动态的未来学校形态；构建创新创造、技术技能、人际交往和全球公民意识四维能力的人才培养体系；创新学习范式、教育场域、教学方法和学习方式；加强学校与社会相关子系统的合作关系，提高教师的职业核心素质，加快融入教育4.0，迈向未来学校。

教育信息科学与技术是解决国家教育改革发展中的关键导向问题，围绕国家教育发展和人才培养的重大目标和战略需求，开展原创性、基础性、前瞻性、交叉性研究，应用自然科学的研究范式探究教育发展的底层规律，以此推动教育研究的科学化发展，助力教育现代化远景目标的实现。教育信息科学与技术旨在以数据密集型科学的研究思想为指导，采用多学科交叉的研究范式，利用信息科技的方法刻画教育要素、挖掘教育规律、变革教育服务、优化教育模式，实现智能技术与教育教学的深度融合，助力教育的现代化发展与智能化变革。近年来，教育信息科学与技术的研究要点主要聚焦在“基于智能技术的学习者特征挖掘与智能建模”“智慧教育资源的表征、聚合与供给机制”“智慧学习环境建构关键理论与技术”“个性化学习支持服务关键理论与技术”“智能教育产品研发与应用”“多元教育情境下的学习发生机理研究”“基于教育神经科学的学习发生机理阐释”“智能技术支持的教育评价”等方面。未来教育信息科学与技术相关研究的开展需要聚焦教育改革实践问题，借鉴国际前沿研究理念，加强教育科学理论创新，构建学科交叉研究范式，突破教育科学重大问题，推动研究成果实践落地，强化智能教育伦理研究，以此推动我国教育研究的创新发展和智能变革。
