Ubiquitous Mining with Interactive Data Mining agents

Due to the increasing availability and sophistication of data recording techniques, multiple information sources and distributed computing are becoming the important trends of modern information systems. Many applications such as security informatics and social computing require a ubiquitous data analysis platform so that decisions can be made rapidly under distributed and dynamic system environments. Although data mining has now been popularly used to achieve such goals, building a data mining system is, however, a nontrivial task, which may require a complete understanding on numerous data mining techniques as well as solid programming skills. Employing agent techniques for data analysis thus becomes increasingly important, especially for users not familiar with engineering and computational sciences, to implement an effective ubiquitous mining platform. Such data mining agents should, in practice, be intelligent, complete, and compact. In this paper, we present an interactive data mining agent - OIDM （online interactive data mining）, which provides three categories （classification, association analysis, and clustering） of data mining tools, and interacts with the user to facilitate the mining process. The interactive mining is accomplished through interviewing the user about the data mining task to gain efficient and intelligent data mining control. OIDM can help users find appropriate mining algorithms, refine and compare the mining process, and finally achieve the best mining results. Such interactive data mining agent techniques provide alternative solutions to rapidly deploy data mining techniques to broader areas of data intelligence and knowledge informaties.

Rumi: An intelligent Agent Enhancing Learning Management Systems Using Machine Learning Techniques

The dramatic improvement of information and communication technology (ICT) has made an evolution in learning management systems (LMS). The rapid growth in LMSs has caused users to demand more advanced, automated, and intelligent services. This paper discusses how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques are adopted to fulfill users’ needs in a social learning management system named “CourseNetworking”. The paper explains how machine learning contributed to developing an intelligent agent called “Rumi” as a personal assistant in CourseNetworking platform to add personalization, gamification, and more dynamics to the system. This paper aims to introduce machine learning to traditional learning platforms and guide the developers working in LMS field to benefit from advanced technologies in learning platforms by offering customized services.

Using agents in Web-Based Constructivist Collaborative Learning System

Web-based learning systems are one of the most interesting topics in the area of the application of computers to education. Collaborative learning, as an important principle in constructivist learning theory, is an important instruction mode for open and distance learning systems. Through collaborative learning, students can greatly improve their creativity, exploration capability, and social cooperation. This paper used an agent-based coordination mechanism to respond to the requirements of an efficient and motivating learn-ing process. This coordination mechanism is based on a Web-based constructivist collaborative learning system, in which students can learn in groups and interact with each other by several kinds of communica-tion modes to achieve their learning objectives efficiently and actively. In this learning system, artificial agents represent an active part in the collaborative learning process; they can partially replace human in-structors during the multi-mode interaction of the students.

An intelligent Agent Approach to Adaptive Project Management

This paper presents the initial steps to integrating a distributed discrete event simulation system with a framework for intelligent software agents. The resulting system has a simulation component that is based on the high-level architecture (HLA) and an agent component that implements the belief-desire-intention (BDI) approach to agent modelling. The architecture is connected to a real-time information source. The framework was successfully applied to a real-life monitoring system for a tunnel-boring machine excavation project that helped with forecasting and managing the project timelines in response to the changes in the uncertain excavation environment. This project is presented as a test case and demonstrates encouraging results for integrative modelling of large-scale problems with elements of uncertainty.

A MULTI-AGENT SYSTEM FOR MANAGING THE QUALITY OF SERVICE IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS

In this paper we propose X-MAQoS, a novel XML-based multi-agent system for the QoS management in telecommunications networks. This system is characterized by the following features: (i) it handles a user profile and exploits it jointly with suitable network resource management techniques to maximize user satisfaction; (ii) it is capable of operating in a large variety of telecommunications networks; (iii) it is semi-automatic; (iv) it exploits XML for guaranteeing a light, versatile and standard mechanism for information representation, storing and exchange. In this paper the basic features of the system are discussed in details. Furthermore, the main results of a performance evaluation study in UMTS environment, aiming at comparing X-MAQoS with alternative agent-based approaches for handling user access to telecommunications networks, are reported.

e-Automation,an Architecture for Distributed Industrial Automation Systems

Due to the complexity of modern industrial systems, a conventional automation system is not capable of providing sufficient information management and high-level intelligent approaches, as achieving these functionalities requires the support of comprehensive data management and coordination between system devices and heterogenous information. This paper proposes the concept of e-Automation, in which computer networking and distributed intelligence agent technologies are applied to industrial automation systems, and presents a hardware and software architecture that implements this concept. An open infrastructure based on multi-agent systems is employed in the proposed architecture of e-Automation, which aims to allow the implementation of diverse tasks and to permit greater configurability than can be obtained from a traditional system. To evaluate our proposed e-Automation concept, this paper presents a case study of substation information management which adopts the proposed e-Automation architecture in power system domain.

What is a real time agent,how does it remedy ongoing daily frustrations for users,and how does it improve the retrieval performance in World Wide Web?These are the main question we focus on this *** many distributed information retrieval systems,information in agents should be ranked based on a combination of multiple *** combination of ranks has been the dominant approach due to its simplicity and *** a combination scheme in distributed infrastructure requires that the ranks in resources or agents are comparable to each other before *** main challenge is transforming the raw rank values of different criteria appropriately to make them comparable before any *** ways for ranking agents make this strategy *** this research,we will demonstrate how to rank Web documents based on resource-provided information how to combine several resources raking schemas in one *** proposed system was implemented specifically in data provided by agents to create a comparable combination for different *** proposed approach was tested on the queries provided by Text Retrieval Conference(TREC).Experimental results showed that our approach is effective and robust compared with offline search platforms.
