In order to improve the efficiency of the combustion of boilers, an approach named self-optimizing which takes the temperature of furnace as the major signal to control the ratio between the wind and coal input is used. Our goal is to save energy. This method can be used to replace the one which uses zirconia as the monitor, so as to avoid its shortcomings, like expensive, ephemeral, and hysteresis. Equal step by step self-optimizing algorithm and variant step algorithm is also introduced. And the intelligent self-optimizing control algorithm is discussed. This intelligent algorithm is realized by utilizing fuzzy logic estimation method.

A strategy of developing on-line optimization intelligent systems based on combiningflowsheeting simulation and optimization package with artificial neural networks(ANN)is presented inthis paper.A number of optimization cases for a certain chemical plant are obtained off-line byusing PROCESS-Ⅱ or other flowsheeting programming with optimization.Then,taking these cases astraining examples,we establish a neural network systems which can be used on-line as an optimizer toobtain setpoints from input data sampled from distributed control system through gross error detectionand data reconciliation procedures.Such an on-line optimizer possesses two advantages over nonlinearprogramming package:first of all,there is no convergence problem for the trained ANN to be usedonline;secondly,the frequency for setpoints updating is not limited because only algebraic calculationrather than optimization is required to be carried out on-line.Here two key problems ofimplementing ANN approaches to the on-line optimization

Some intelligent algorithms(IAs) proposed by us, including swarm IAs and single individual IAs, have been applied to the Zebiak-Cane(ZC) model to solve conditional nonlinear optimal perturbation(CNOP) for studying El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) predictability. Compared to the adjoint-based method(the ADJ-method), which is referred to as a benchmark, these IAs can achieve approximate CNOP results in terms of magnitudes and patterns.Using IAs to solve CNOP can avoid the use of an adjoint model and widen the application of CNOP in numerical climate and weather modeling. Of the proposed swarm IAs, PCA-based particle swarm optimization(PPSO) obtains CNOPs with the best patterns and the best stability. Of the proposed single individual IAs, continuous tabu search algorithm with sine maps and staged strategy(CTS-SS) has the highest efficiency. In this paper, we compare the validity, stability and efficiency of parallel PPSO and CTS-SS using these two IAs to solve CNOP in the ZC model for studying ENSO predictability. The experimental results show that CTS-SS outperforms parallel PPSO except with respect to stability. At the same time, we are also concerned with whether these two IAs can effectively solve CNOP when applied to more complicated models. Taking the sensitive areas identification of tropical cyclone adaptive observations as an example and using the fifth-generation mesoscale model(MM5), we design some experiments. The experimental results demonstrate that each of these two IAs can effectively solve CNOP and that parallel PPSO has a higher efficiency than CTS-SS. We also provide some suggestions on how to choose a suitable IA to solve CNOP for different models.

Precise nanomedicine has been extensively explored for efficient cancer imaging and targeted cancer therapy, as evidenced by a few breakthroughs in their preclinical and clinical explorations. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. We wish to highlight these new progress of precise nanomedicine with the ultimate goal to inspire more successful explorations of intelligent nanoparticles for future clinical translations.

BACKGROUND Heart defects are the most common congenital malformations in fetuses.Fetal cardiac structure and function abnormalities lead to changes in ventricular volume.As ventricular volume is an important index for evaluating fetal cardiovascular development,an effective and reliable method for measuring fetal ventricular volume and cardiac function is necessary for accurate ultrasonic diagnosis and effective clinical treatment.The new intelligent spatiotemporal image correlation(iSTIC)technology acquires high-resolution volumetric images.In this study,the iSTIC technique was used to measure right ventricular volume and to evaluate right ventricular systolic function to provide a more accurate and convenient evaluation of fetal heart function.AIM To investigate the value of iSTIC in evaluating right ventricular volume and systolic function in normal fetuses.METHODS Between October 2014 and September 2015,a total of 123 pregnant women received prenatal ultrasound examinations in our hospital.iSTIC technology was used to acquire the entire fetal cardiac volume with off-line analysis using QLAB software.Cardiac systolic and diastolic phases were defined by opening of the atrioventricular valve and the subsequent closure of the atrioventricular valve.The volumetric data of the two phases were measured by manual tracking and summation of multiple slices and recording of the right ventricular end-systolic volume and the right ventricular end-diastolic volume.The data were used to calculate the right stroke volume,the right cardiac output,and the right ejection fraction.The correlations of changes between the above-mentioned indices and gestational age were analyzed.The right ventricular volumes of 30 randomly selected cases were measured twice by the same sonographer,and the intraobserver agreement measurements were calculated.RESULTS Among the 123 normal fetuses,the mean right ventricular end-diastolic volume increased from 0.99±0.34 mL at 22 wk gestation to 3.69±0.36 mL at 35+6 wk gestation.The mean right ventricu

The market and the future trends of smart packaging show a tendency towards a continuous increase. Several reports have revealed about the increase of consumer concern for food quality and safety, which gives rise to the demand of intelligent packaging. Nano-enabled food packaging has attracted considerable interest and driven a variety of potential applications in the intelligent packaging. The presence of nanomaterials as nanodevices or nanosensors has been recognized as a part of the modern intelligent packaging for monitoring the condition of packaged food or the environment surrounding the product. Among of nanosensors, optical indicator has been widely applied in the market due to the convenient and easy to use. The utilization of nanomaterial such as metal nanoparticles or photonic nanocrystals shows superior performance in novel communicative functions than the traditional colorimetric indicator because of their unique optical properties and high surface reactivity. This review focuses exclusively on ongoing scientific research and recent technological breakthroughs related to nanotechnology-derived colorimetric indicators. The challenges of their application are highlighted and discussed to provide adequate information for future development.

Concept of intelligent Mechanical Design for Autonomous Mobile Robots

The concept of intelligent Mechanical Design （IMD） is presented to show how a mechanical structure can be designed to affect robot controllability, simplification and task performance. Exploring this concept produces landmarks in the territory of mechanical robot design in the form of seven design principles. The design principles, which we call the Mecha-Telligence Principles （MTP）, provide guidance on how to design mechanics for autonomous mobile robots. These principles guide us to ask the right questions when investigating issues concerning self-controllable, reliable, feasible, and compatible mechanics for autonomous mobile robots. To show how MTP can be applied in the design process we propose a novel methodology, named as Mecha-Telligence Methodology （MTM）. Mechanical design by the proposed methodology is based on preference classification of the robot specification described by interaction of the robot with its environment and the physical parameters of the robot mechatronics. After defining new terms, we investigate the feasibility of the proposed methodology to the mechanical design of an autonomous mobile sewer inspection robot. In this industrial project we show how a passive-active intelligent moving mechanism can be designed using the MTM and employed in the field.

Upgrading Pathways of intelligent Manufacturing in China:Transitioning across Technological Paradigms

intelligent technologies are leading to the next wave of industrial revolution in manufacturing.In developed economies,firms are embracing these advanced technologies following a sequential upgrading strategy-from digital manufacturing to smart manufacturing(digital-networked),and then to newgeneration intelligent manufacturing paradigms.However,Chinese firms face a different scenario.On the one hand,they have diverse technological bases that vary from low-end electrified machinery to leading-edge digital-network technologies;thus,they may not follow an identical upgrading pathway.On the other hand,Chinese firms aim to rapidly catch up and transition from technology followers to probable frontrunners;thus,the turbulences in the transitioning phase may trigger a precious opportunity for leapfrogging,if Chinese manufacturers can swiftly acquire domain expertise through the adoption of intelligent manufacturing technologies.This study addresses the following question by conducting multiple case studies:Can Chinese firms upgrade intelligent manufacturing through different pathways than the sequential one followed in developed economies?The data sources include semistructured interviews and archival data.This study finds that Chinese manufacturing firms have a variety of pathways to transition across the three technological paradigms of intelligent manufacturing in nonconsecutive ways.This finding implies that Chinese firms may strategize their own upgrading pathways toward intelligent manufacturing according to their capabilities and industrial specifics;furthermore,this finding can be extended to other catching-up economies.This paper provides a strategic roadmap as an explanatory guide to manufacturing firms,policymakers,and investors.
