The goals of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) can be achieved by embracing the principles of distributive governance, which places both customary and statutory water institutions on the same pedestal in the governance of water resources. As culture and traditions constitute intangible aspects of water resources management in rural Africa, the recognition of water governance systems grounded in local norms, which correspond better with the aspirations of local water users as against the expert-knowledge systems is desirable. Following the introduction of the statutory institutions in postcolonial Africa, customary institutions, which were once effective in regulating water resources became relegated to the background in those countries, including Botswana . Adopting a critical literature review approach, this article employs the concept of legal pluralism to analyze the institutional factors that create the disharmony between cultural and statutory water governance and management institutions. Findings indicate that water has been abstracted from its social nature and transformed into a tradable economic good. Ultimately, the local meanings and images encoded in water as a nature-given resource are overlooked, thus generating conflicts in water governance. The paper recommends the adoptions of legal pluralism under which water institutions need to embrace both customary and statutory institutions.

We live in a world of climate injustice.People in wealthy countries emit large amounts of greenhouse gasses,whose effects will be particularly adverse to people in poor countries who have not received the benefits of past emissions.Although these injustices are deeply embedded in power asymmetries,they could be ameliorated if wealthy societies were to take broad views of their own self-interests.To do so would require,in some instances,changes in the default rules,embedded in sovereignty,that have inhibited positive changes.To ensure that such positive changes ensue will require new and well-designed institutions,two of which are proposed.An Institute for Climate Finance would facilitate offset arrangements by which rich countries pay for emissions reductions in poorer countries.An Institute for Climate Innovation would facilitate the transfer of innovative low-or z|ero-emission energy technology to developing countries.

The purpose of this study was to construct the model of organization system,managemcnt,training and surveillance in healthcare-associated infection prevention and control(IC)of primary health care institutions and identify its efleet on patient safety and decreasing economic burden by standardizing IC.A cross-sectional survey was conducted with questionnaires.Data were collected from 268 primary health care institutions in Hubei province,China.Hypotheses on the model of IC were analyzed by means of confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling.The results showed that the fit indices of the hypothesized model of IC satisfied recommended levels:root mean square error of approximation(RMSEA)=0.071;comparative fit index(CFI)=0.965;tucker lewis index(TLI)=0.956:weighted root mean square residual(WRMR)=1.014.The model showed that organization system had a direct effect on management(β=0.311.Pinstitutions is valuable tor guiding IC practice.

During the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),epidemiological data is essential for controlling the source of infection,cutting off the route of transmission,and protecting vulnerable populations.Following Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases and other related regulations,medical institutions have been authorized to collect the detailed information of patients,while it is still a formidable task in megacities because of the significant patient mobility and the existing information sharing barrier.As a smart city which strengthens precise epidemic prevention and control,Shanghai has established a multi-department platform named"one-net management"on dynamic information monitoring.By sharing epidemiological data with medical institutions under a safe environment,we believe that the ability to prevent and control epidemics among medical institutions will be effectively and comprehensively improved.

This paper theoretically examines the impact of some important institutional arrangements and policies like land management pattern the rural off-farm employment land property change and changes in prices of agricultural products on soil degradation in this area. It further conducts some case studies to confirm the potential relationship between the institutions & policies and soil degradation applying the surveyed and the second hand data. The paper at last makes some conclusions and proposes some suggestions on how to promote soil conservation by improving the ways of policy decision-making and the effects of policies on land use.

Southeast China is one of the severe soil degradation areas in China. The reforms of China's financial system have significantly changed the country's financial sector. One noteworthy phenomenon is that many nonfinancial firms have obtained equity stakes in financial institutions. This study investigates the motivations behind and economic consequences of this recent proliferation of investments in financial institutions by nonfinancial listed firms. We find that the motivations for holding equity stakes in financial institutions include alleviating the pressure of industry competition, reducing transaction costs, and diversification to reduce risk. These investments, however, have double-edged effects on the performance of the investing firms. While their investment income increases, their operating income and overall return on assets decrease, as the investment income cannot compensate for the decrease in other operating income. The investing firms' cost of debt also increases, their cash-holding decreases, and stock price performance does not improve after investing in financial institutions. These effects contrast with the enthusiasm nonfinancial listed firms have for investing in financial institutions. The empirical findings in this study can inform financial industry regulators and decision-makers in listed firms. We advise nonfinancial firms to be cautious when considering investing in financial institutions.
