Reconstruction of behavior-relevant individual brain activity:an individualized fMRI study

Different patterns of brain activity are observed in various subjects across a wide functional ***,these individual differences,which are often neglected through the group average,are not yet completely *** on the fundamental assumption that human behavior is rooted in the underlying brain function,we speculated that the individual differences in brain activity are reflected in the individual differences in *** 98 behavioral measures and assessing the brain activity induced at seven task functional magnetic resonance imaging states,we demonstrated that the individual differences in brain activity can be used to predict behavioral measures of individual subjects with high accuracy using the partial least square regression *** addition,we revealed that behavior-relevant individual differences in brain activity transferred between different task states and can be used to reconstruct individual brain *** individual brain activity retained certain individual differences which were lost in the group average and could serve as an individual functional ***,our results suggest that the individual differences in brain activity contain behavior-relevant information and should be included in group ***,reconstructed individual brain activity shows a potential use in precise and personalized medicine.

Pharmacometabolomic prediction of individual differences of gastrointestinal toxicity complicating myelosuppression in rats induced by irinotecan

Pharmacometabolomics has been already successfully used in toxicity prediction for one specific adverse effect. However in clinical practice, two or more different toxicities are always accompanied with each other, which puts forward new challenges for pharmacometabolomics. Gastrointestinal toxicity and myelosuppression are two major adverse effects induced by Irinotecan(CPT-11),and often show large individual differences. In the current study, a pharmacometabolomic study was performed to screen the exclusive biomarkers in predose serums which could predict late-onset diarrhea and myelosuppression of CPT-11 simultaneously. The severity and sensitivity differences in gastrointestinal toxicity and myelosuppression were judged by delayed-onset diarrhea symptoms, histopathology examination, relative cytokines and blood cell counts. Mass spectrometry-based non-targeted and targeted metabolomics were conducted in sequence to dissect metabolite signatures in predose serums. Eventually,two groups of metabolites were screened out as predictors for individual differences in late-onset diarrhea and myelosuppression using binary logistic regression, respectively. This result was compared with existing predictors and validated by another independent external validation set. Our study indicates the prediction of toxicity could be possible upon predose metabolic profile. Pharmacometabolomics can be a potentially useful tool for complicating toxicity prediction. Our findings also provide a new insight into CPT-11 precision medicine.

Acoustic mode waves and individual arrivals excited by a dipole source in fluid-filled boreholes

An approach of separating individual wave arrivals for a dipole logging is presented. The branch points are treated as a type of logarithm and the Riemann surface structure of the multivalued function is studied, that is, the displacement potential within the borehole. Based on the theoretical analysis, the complex poles contributing to the wave field on various Riemann sheets are investigated in detail for the case of a fast formation. It is shown that poles on Riemann sheet (0,0) are real and form branches of modes with dispersion. Mathematically, it is demonstrated that the flexural mode has no cutoff frequency, which is different from the traditional point of view. Poles on other relevant Riemann sheets are complex and form many branches on the complex frequency-wavenumber plane. Further investigation on the pole and branch cut contributions indicates that the vertical branch cut integration method has limitations in separating wave arrivals. By properly taking into account the complex poles on various Riemann sheets together with branch cut integrations, wave arrivals are separated from the full wave-forms effectively for both the fast and slow formation models. Specially, there are complex poles on Riemann sheet (0,-1) in the vicinity of the compressional branch cut for a slow formation with a large Poisson's ratio, which have small imaginary parts and contribute a lot to the p-wave arrival.

Hydrogen isotopic compositions, distributions and source signals of individual n-alkanes for some typical crude oils in Lunnan Oilfield, Tarim Basin, NW China

Isotopic compositions of carbon-bound hydrogen in individual n-alkanes from sev-eral typical crude oil samples from Lunnan Oilfield, Tarim Basin, NW China, were firstly measured using newly developed gas chromatography-thermal conversion-isotope ratio mass spectrometry. The similar range of δ D of individual n-alkanes of crude oils among reservoirs of different geo-logical times reflects that hydrocarbons are all derived from the same marine depositional envi-ronment. Compared to the theoretic value (?150‰) and the reported δ D values (nC13―nC27, ?160‰―?90‰) of individual n-alkanes for Ordovician-sourced crude oils in the Canadian Wil-liston Basin, the hydrogen isotopic composition of individual n-alkanes in crude oils from Lunnan Oilfield is characterized by heavy hydrogen isotopic values (nC12―nC27, ?120‰―?60‰). In terms of the factors that control the fractionation of hydrogen isotopes, relatively saline deposi-tional environment and higher thermal maturation were attributed to the heavy δ D values of in-dividual n-alkanes in crude oils from Lunnan Oilfield.

individual Dairy Cattle Recognition Based on Deep Convolutional Neural Network

Image based individual dairy cattle recognition has gained much attention recently. In order to further improve the accuracy of individual dairy cattle recognition, an algorithm based on deep convolutional neural network( DCNN) is proposed in this paper,which enables automatic feature extraction and classification that outperforms traditional hand craft features. Through making multigroup comparison experiments including different network layers,different sizes of convolution kernel and different feature dimensions in full connection layer,we demonstrate that the proposed method is suitable for dairy cattle classification. The experimental results show that the accuracy is significantly higher compared to two traditional image processing algorithms: scale invariant feature transform( SIFT) algorithm and bag of feature( BOF) model.

Identification of Microplankton in South China Sea with Image-Matching individual PCR

In this study, marine microplankton were identified by combining standard light microscopy with Sanger 18S rRNA gene sequencing. The image-matching individual PCR technique was applied to identify the image collectable unicellular microplankton to genera. Instead of pure strain culture and morphological identification, microplankton individual cells were isolated and fixed with glutaraldehyde, frozen and stored for months. Finally, they were imaged under a microscope and molecularly identified via phylogenetic analysis of their 18S ribosomal RNA gene(18S rDNA). Microplankton cells were collected at 30 locations in South China Sea, and were assigned to 21 known and 4 unidentified genera(2 uncultured fungi and 2 uncultured stramenopiles) with phylogenetic analysis in parallel to the morphological identification.

individual Variation in Growth in Sea Cucumber Apostichopus japonicus(Selenck) Housed individually

The exceptionally large individual growth variation has been previously recognized in several sea cucumber cohorts. However, there is a lack of information regarding the mechanism of such individual differences. In this study, the sea cucumber Apostichopusjaponicus （Selenka） was reared individually in order to eliminate possible effects of social interaction, stocking density, etc. The results showed that there were substantial differences in growth among the sea cucumber individuals during the 100-day experiment. The special growth rate of the sea cucumber individuals differed by up to three folds （from 0.40% to 1.01%）, and the coefficient of variation in body weight increased from 12.04% to 40.51%. The final wet body weight, food intake and food conversion efficiency for each sea cucumber were generally positively correlated with their initial wet body weight （P〈0.05）. Energy budget of the animals showed that the food energy spent on respiration was much greater （about four folds） but energy deposited for growth was much less for （initially） smaller than for larger A. japonicus. The present result implies that there are obvious genetic differences among the sea cucumber individuals, largely accounting for the individual growth variation of the cohort sea cucumber. These results will provide some basic data for promoting selective breeding and fanning of the sea cucumber.

Personality traits covary with individual differences in inhibitory abilities in 2 species of fish

In a number of animal species,individuals differ in their ability to solve cognitive ***,the mechanisms underlying this variability remain *** has been proposed that individual differences in cognition may be related to individual differences in behavior(i.e.,personality);a hypothesis that has received mixed *** this study,we investigated whether personality correlates with the cognitive ability that allows inhibiting behavior in 2 teleost fish species,the zebrafish Danio rerio and the guppy Poecilia *** both species,individuals that were bolder in a standard personality assay,the open-field test,showed greater inhibitory abilities in the tube task,which required them to inhibit foraging behavior toward live prey sealed into a transparent *** finding reveals a relationship between boldness and inhibitory abilities in fish and lends support to the hypothesis of a link between personality and ***,this study suggests that species separated by a relatively large phylogenetic distance may show the same link between personality and cognition,when tested on the same tasks.

Purpose： While most literature concerning knowledge sharing examines it as an organizational method for innovation and value creation, this paper considers online knowledge sharing as an individual behavior decision embedded in a virtual community. We attempt to explore which sharing behavior can help individual participants gain a better position in an online community, improving social status, reputation, and other social networking interests. Design/methodology/approach： We collected and measured the knowledge sharing activities and discussion from a Chinese online expertise knowledge network in Business Management Consulting. We tested the mediating effects of the sharing behavior of the major members of the online knowledge network on members＇ status （network centrality） in different time units （days）. Findings： In a dynamic virtual community, the direct result of knowledge sharing behavior is reflected in the individual status position （the degree of node centrality）. At the same time, individual knowledge sharing behavior has an ＂inertia effect＂： individual prior status （the degree of node centrality） affects current knowledge sharing behavior, while current knowledge sharing behavior affects current status in the knowledge network, forming an inertial circuit between personal behavior and network status. Originality/value： We expound the theory of individual knowledge sharing in the context of an inter-person dynamic virtual community; we provide action ＂strategies＂ for individual knowledge shating behavior choice, for better understanding the nature of individual knowledge behavior, and we also propose and test the ＂inertia effect＂ of knowledge sharing behavior and the knowledge network, and demonstrate the theory of network effects from an individual perspective.

Using specific secondary metabolites as markers to evaluate allelopathic potentials of rice varieties and individual plants

It is a key of the breeding of ailelopathic rice cultivars to evaluate and screen few accessions with ailelopathic traits from numerous rice accessions and individual plants. Rice varieties and individual plants with ailelopathic traits demonstrated their ailelopathic effects by producing and releasing specific secondary metabolites into environment. Therefore, using specific secondary metabolites as markers, the ailelopathic potentials of rice varieties and individual plants could be evaluated by HPLC. The ailelopathic potentials of 3000 rice accessions and some individual plants of F3 and F4 were evaluated by this method in 1 a. If these accessions and plants were evaluated by the traditional method in the field, it would take more than 10 a, furthermore, the breeding process of ailelopathic rice cultivars would be directed and monitored by this method.
