Classification of Plant Endogenous States Using Machine Learning-Derived Agricultural Indices

Leaf color patterns vary depending on leaf age,pathogen infection,and environmental and nutritional stresses;thus,they are widely used to diagnose plant health statuses in agricultural fields.The visible-near infrared-shortwave infrared(VIS-NIR-SWIR)sensor measures the leaf color pattern from a wide spectral range with high spectral resolution.However,spectral information has only been employed to understand general plant health statuses(e.g.,vegetation index)or phytopigment contents,rather than pinpointing defects of specific metabolic or signaling pathways in plants.Here,we report feature engineering and machine learning methods that utilize VIS-NIR-SWIR leaf reflectance for robust plant health diagnostics,pinpointing physiological alterations associated with the stress hormone,abscisic acid(ABA).Leaf reflectance spectra of wild-type,ABA2-overexpression,and deficient plants were collected under watered and drought conditions.Drought-and ABA-associated normalized reflectance Indices(NRIs)were screened from all possible pairs of wavelength bands.Drought associated NRIs showed only a partial overlap with those related to ABA deficiency,but more NRIs were associated with drought due to additional spectral changes within the NIR wavelength range.Interpretable support vector machine classifiers built with 20 NRIs predicted treatment or genotype groups with an accuracy greater than those with conventional vegetation Indices.Major selected NRIs were independent from leaf water content and chlorophyll content,2 well-characterized physiological changes under drought.The screening of NRIs,streamlined with the development of simple classifiers,serves as the most efficient means of detecting reflectance bands that are highly relevant to characteristics of interest.

Prognostic significance of multiple triglycerides-derived metabolic Indices in patients with acute coronary syndrome

BACKGROUND Triglyceride(TG)and its related metabolic Indices,all recognized as surrogates of insulin resistance,have been demonstrated to be relevant to clinical prognosis.However,the relative value of these TG-related Indices for predicting cardiovascular events among patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)has not been examined.METHODS The TG,the triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index,the atherogenic index of plasma,TG to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio,and the lipoprotein combine index were assessed in 1694 ACS patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular event(MACE),which was the composite of all-cause mortality,stroke,myocardial infarction,or unplanned repeat revascularization.RESULTS During a median follow-up of 31 months,345 patients(20.4%)had MACE.The risk of the MACE was increased with higher TG and the four TG-derived metabolic Indices[TG-adjusted hazard ratio(HR)=1.002,95%CI:1.001-1.003;TyG index-adjusted HR=1.736,95%CI:1.398-2.156;atherogenic index of plasma-adjusted HR=2.513,95%CI:1.562-4.043;TG to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio-adjusted HR=1.148,95%CI:1.048-1.258;and lipoprotein combine index-adjusted HR=1.009,95%CI:1.004-1.014;PIndices].TG and all the four Indices significantly improved the predictive ability for MACE in addition to the baseline model.Among them,TyG index showed the best ability for predicting MACE compared with the other three Indices from all the three measurements(PIndices were all strongly associated with MACE among ACS patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.Among all the Indices,TyG index showed the best ability to predict the risk of MACE.

Iran experienced one of the largest methanol poisoning outbreaks shortly after the coronavirus pandemic due to misinformation about the beneficial effects of alcohol in preventing and treating this viral infection.^([1])According to the Iran Legal Medicine Organization(LMO),over 3,100 methanol toxicity cases and 728 deaths were reported across the country,resulting in a syndemic of methanol poisoning.^([2])There is very little literature on the electrographic predictors of cardiovascular mortality in methanol poisoned patients.^([3])

Let C be an extriangulated category and T be any n-cluster tilting subcategory of C.We consider the index with respect to T and introduce the index Grothendieck group of T.Using the index,we prove that the index Grothendieck group of T is isomorphic to the Grothendieck group of C,which implies that the index Grothendieck groups of any two n-cluster tilting subcategories are isomorphic.In particular,we show that the split Grothendieck groups of any two 2-cluster tilting subcategories are isomorphic.Then we develop a general framework for c-vectors of 2-Calabi-Yau extriangulated categories with respect to arbitrary 2-cluster tilting subcategories.We show that the c-vectors have the sign-coherence property and provide some formulas for calculating c-vectors.

To the Editor:Freezing of gait(FOG)is a common disabling movement disorder in Parkinson disease(PD),affecting approximately 50%to 80%of PD patients in their late state.FOG can cause the patients to fall easily,seriously affects their quality of life and exerts both economic and emotional burdens.Unlike the common motor symptoms of PD(such as bradykinesia,tremor,or rigidity),FOG is seldom improved by dopaminergic medication therapy or deep brain stimulation.Moreover,FOG may be resistant to(or even worsened by)levodopa.[1]However,cognitive training has showed it can reduce the severity of FOG.[2]These findings imply that FOG may be caused not only by motor impairment but also by cognitive impairment.It is reasonable to hypothesize that FOG+patients have impaired cognitive function and that the diffusion Indices of the cerebral territories’microstructures associated with cognition are altered.To test this hypothesis,we applied whole-brain voxel-based analysis(VBA),a fully automated whole-brain analysis that uses voxel-wise statistics on diffusion metrics,to investigate the diffusion Indices of brain microstructures changes in FOG+patients,PD patients without FOG(FOG-patients),and healthy controls(HCs).

Comprehensive early warning of rock burst utilizing microseismic multi-parameter Indices

Rock bursts have become one of the most severe risks in underground coal mining and its early warning is an important component in the safety management. Microseismic(MS) monitoring is considered potentially as a powerful tool for the early warning of rock burst. In this study, an MS multi-parameter index system was established and the critical values of each index were estimated based on the normalized multi-information warning model of coal-rock dynamic failure. This index system includes bursting strain energy(BSE) index, time-space-magnitude independent information(TSMII) Indices and timespace-magnitude compound information(TSMCI) Indices. On the basis of this multi-parameter index system, a comprehensive analysis was conducted via introducing the R-value scoring method to calculate the weights of each index. To calibrate the multi-parameter index system and the associated comprehensive analysis, the weights of each index were first confirmed using historical MS data occurred in LW402102 of Hujiahe Coal Mine(China) over a period of four months. This calibrated comprehensive analysis of MS multi-parameter index system was then applied to pre-warn the occurrence of a subsequent rock burst incident in LW 402103. The results demonstrate that this multi-parameter index system combined with the comprehensive analysis are capable of quantitatively pre-warning rock burst risk.

Responses of diff erent biodiversity Indices to subsampling efforts in lotic macroinvertebrate assemblages

As a less time-consuming procedure, subsampling technology has been widely used in biological monitoring and assessment programs. It is clear that subsampling counts af fect the value of traditional biodiversity Indices, but its ef fect on taxonomic distinctness(TD) Indices is less well studied. Here, we examined the responses of traditional(species richness, Shannon-Wiener diversity) and TD(average taxonomic distinctness: Δ +, and variation in taxonomic distinctness: Λ +) Indices to subsample counts using a random subsampling procedure from 50 to 400 individuals, based on macroinvertebrate datasets from three dif ferent river systems in China. At regional scale, taxa richness asymptotically increased with ?xed-count size; ≥250–300 individuals to express 95% information of the raw data. In contrast, TD Indices were less sensitive to the subsampling procedure. At local scale, TD Indices were more stable and had less deviation than species richness and Shannon-Wiener index, even at low subsample counts, with ≥100 individuals needed to estimate 95% of the information of the actual Δ + and Λ + in the three river basins. We also found that abundance had a certain ef fect on diversity Indices during the subsampling procedure, with dif ferent subsampling counts for species richness and TD Indices varying by regions. Therefore, we suggest that TD Indices are suitable for biodiversity assessment and environment monitoring. Meanwhile, pilot analyses are necessary when to determine the appropriate subsample counts for bioassessment in a new region or habitat type.

Equalities between h-type Indices and Definitions of Rational h-type Indicators

Purpose: To show for which publication-citation arrays h-type Indices are equal and to reconsider rational h-type Indices. Results for these research questions fill some gaps in existing basic knowledge about h-type Indices.Design/methodology/approach: The results and introduction of new indicators are based on well-known definitions.Findings: The research purpose has been reached: answers to the first questions are obtained and new indicators are defined. Research limitations: h-type Indices do not meet the Bouyssou-Marchant independence requirement.Practical implications: On the one hand, more insight has been obtained for well-known Indices such as the h-and the g-index and on the other hand, simple extensions of existing indicators have been added to the bibliometric toolbox. Relative rational h-type Indices are more useful for individuals than the existing absolute ones.Originality/value: Answers to basic questions such as "when are the values of two h-type Indices equal" are provided. A new rational h-index is introduced.
