Summary What is already known about this topic?China was certified malaria-free on June 30,2021.However,Imported malaria continuously threatens the effort to prevent re-establishment of malaria in China.What is added by this report?Measures such as international travel restrictions,entry quarantine,and screening in fever clinics during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)period were associated with a significant decrease of Imported malaria cases in Anhui Province,a higher proportion of non-Plasmodium falciparum(non-P.falciparum)malaria reported infections,and a higher proportion of cases requiring medical attention at their initial visit.What are the implications for public health practices?It is necessary to be vigilant about Imported malaria during the COVID-19 epidemic,especially for non-P.falciparum infections which are more difficult to detect,and to promote research,development,and introduction of more sensitive and specific point-ofcare detection methods for non-P.falciparum species.

Introduction:After the epidemic in Wuhan City was brought under control in 2020,local outbreaks of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in the mainland of China were mainly due to Imported COVID-19 cases.The ongoing evolution of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has continued to generate new variants.Some have been designated as variants of concern(VOCs)by the World Health Organization(WHO).To better assess the role of Imported SARS-CoV-2 surveillance and the prevalence of VOCs in 2021,the genomic surveillance data of SARS-CoV-2 from Imported COVID-19 cases of 2021 in the mainland of China were analyzed.Methods:The analyses included the number of sequence submissions,time of sequence deposition,and time of detection of the VOCs in order to determine the timeliness and sensitivity of the surveillance.The proportions of VOCs were analyzed and compared with data from the Global Initiative of Sharing All Influenza Data(GISAID).Results:A total of 3,355 sequences of Imported cases were submitted from 29 provincial-level administrative divisions,with differences in the number of sequence submissions and median time of sequence deposition.A total of 2,388 sequences with more than 90%genomic coverage were used for lineage analysis.The epidemic trend from Alpha to Delta to Omicron in Imported cases was consistent with that in the GISAID.In addition,VOCs from Imported cases were usually identified after WHO designation and before causing local outbreaks.Conclusions:The global distribution of SARSCoV-2 VOCs changed rapidly in 2021.Robust genomic surveillance of the Imported SARS-CoV-2 in the mainland of China is of great significance.Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),the etiological agent of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),is constantly mutating under the different circumstances of global transmission(1).The emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants may have potential adverse impacts on epidemic traits and severity.To some extent,it is also capable of escaping natural and vaccine-induced

The red Imported fire ant,Solenopsis invicta Buren,poses a significant threat to biodiversity,agriculture,and public health in its introduced ranges.While chemicals such as toxic baits and dust are the main methods for S.invicta control,toxic baits are slow,requiring approximately one or two weeks,but dust can eliminate the colony of fire ants rapidly in just three to five days.To explore more active ingredients for fire ant control using dusts,the toxicity of bifenthrin and dimefluthrin,the horizontal transfer of bifenthrin and dimefluthrin dust and their efficacy in the field were tested.The results showed that the LD50(lethal dose) values of bifenthrin and dimefluthrin were 3.40 and 1.57 ng/ant,respectively.The KT50(median knockdown time) and KT95(95%knockdown time) values of a 20μg mL^(–1)bifenthrin dose were 7.179and 16.611 min,respectively.The KT50and KT95of a 5μg mL^(–1)dimefluthrin dose were 1.538 and 2.825 min,respectively.The horizontal transfers of bifenthrin and dimefluthrin among workers were effective.The mortality of recipients (secondary mortality) and secondary recipients (tertiary mortality) were both over 80%at 48 h after 0.25,0.50 and 1.00%bifenthrin dust treatments.The secondary mortality of recipients was over 99%at 48 h after 0.25,0.50 and 1.00% dimefluthrin dust treatments,but the tertiary mortality was below 20%.The field trial results showed that both bifenthrin and dimefluthrin exhibited excellent fire ant control effects,and the comprehensive control effects of 1.00%bifenthrin and dimefluthrin dusts at 14 d post-treatment were 95.87 and 85.70%,respectively.

Dear Editor:Except during few events in their life cycles,such as nuptial swarm and mass migration,red Imported fire ants,Solenopsis invicta Buren,avoid being exposed to the open air by living in a unique nest system.The nest provides the colony with a controlled environment and an abundance of foraging tunnels,critical for the survival of an ant colony by reducing the risk of desiccation and predation.

The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 is“not over,”in fact,the“dynamic clearing”policy for SARS-CoV-2 control and prevention in China has been firmly enforced.This study aimed to analyze the clinical symptoms and dynamic viral RNA changes in 2021 at Guangzhou Eighth People’s Hospital.This study showed that 31.4%of the patients(695/2212)tested negative for viral RNA from admission to the final release from quarantine.Of all negative cases,86.5%(601/695)remained in the hospital for no more than 5 days and were asymptomatic or mild.Among the remaining 402 patients who stayed for no more than 5 days,76.4%(307/402)were viral RNA retest positive during the isolation stage.However,96.4%of the peak viral RNA(296/307)was over Ct=33 cycles during the isolation stage.

Outbreak of a new emerging disease is usually an important consideration in medicine and public health. In December 2019, a new emerging disease started in China and becomes the global concern in early January 2020[1,2]. The disease, 2019-novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV) infection, already existed outside China and the importation of disease is the cause of emerging 2019-nCoV infections in new settings.

In 2017,due to the intensified implementation of the ‘changing coal into gas' policy in the northern area and the gas supply shortage in Central Asia,China's LNG imports greatly increased,leading to our country overtaking South Korea as the world's second largest LNG importer.In this process,the demand for LNG in the northern area of our country increased substantially,leading to relatively large differentiation development in the LNG imports of ‘three barrels of oil(CNPC,SINOPEC and CNOOC)',exposing the insufficiency of supporting infrastructure construction for the development of the LNG business in our country,and triggering the government,enterprises and academic circles to pay great attention to ensuring the safety of the domestic natural gas consumption market.Nevertheless,according to a comprehensive analysis of the external environment,internal market,business entities and policy orientation,China's LNG import business is still on the rise,and extensive room remains for progress in the future.
