Immunohistochemical analysis of TNF-α and HSP-60 in Women with Tubal Factor Infertility Associated with Chlamydia Trachomatis

Summary: To explore the roles of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and heat shock protein 60 (HSP-60) in women with tubal factor infertility (TFI) associated with Chlamydia trachomatis, and to determine the mechanisms of fallopian adhesions in Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infections, the expressions of TNF-α and HSP-60 were quantitatively determined in 60 cases of TFI and 30 controls by immunohistochemical technique. The patients with TFI were further divided into group A and group B according to the CT-DNA of cervical specimens of PCR. The quantitative analysis was conducted by employing computerized image analysis system. It is found that the expressions of TNF-α and HSP-60 were much higher in TFI patients than those of controls. Among CT-HSP responders, a stronger expression was correlated with more severe salpingeal pathology. It is concluded that TNF-α and HSP-60 play very important roles in fallopian tube adhesion and occlusion in TFI due to CT infection.

Lots of noises and heterogeneous objects with various sizes coexist in a complex image,such as an ore image;the classical image thresholding method cannot effectively distinguish between ores.To segment ore objects with various sizes simultaneously,two adaptive windows in the image were chosen for each pixel;the gray value of windows was calculated by Otsu＇s threshold method.To extract the object skeleton,the definition principle of distance transformation templates was proposed.The ores linked together in a binary image were separated by distance transformation and gray reconstruction.The seed region of each object was picked up from the local maximum gray region of the reconstruction image.Starting from these seed regions,the watershed method was used to segment ore object effectively.The proposed algorithm marks and segments most objects from complex images precisely.

There is a need to develop a non-destructive and fast detection method for bruising of fl-uits because the injuries lower qnality of fruits, which lead to economic loss. In this paper, we propose a method to detect the bruise on apple surface with hyperspectral imaging technique. A hyperspectral image system consisting of a CCD digital camera, a line scanning spectrometer and a movable platform is designed to acquire the hyper- spectral images of injured apples. Two models are established to distinguish the injured area on the surface from the normal area based on image processing technique with spatial clustering and Spectral Angle Mapper Classification （SAM）, respectively. The discrimination accuracy of the SAM model is up to 100%, which is much higher than the spatial clustering model.

The motion information of a moving target can be recorded in a single image by a push-broom satellite.A push-broom satellite image is composed of many image lines sensed at different time instants.A method to estimate the velocity of a flying airplane from a single image based on the imagery model of the linear push-broom sensor is proposed.Some key points on the high-resolution image of the plane are chosen to determine the velocity（speed and direction）.The performance of the method is tested and verified by experiments using a WorldView-1 image.

To apply decision level fusion to hyperspectral remote sensing （HRS） image classification,three decision level fusion strategies are experimented on and compared,namely,linear consensus algorithm,improved evidence theory,and the proposed support vector machine （SVM） combiner.To evaluate the effects of the input features on classification performance,four schemes are used to organize input features for member classifiers.In the experiment,by using the operational modular imaging spectrometer （OMIS） II HRS image,the decision level fusion is shown as an effective way for improving the classification accuracy of the HRS image,and the proposed SVM combiner is especially suitable for decision level fusion.The results also indicate that the optimization of input features can improve the classification performance.

The application of dark-field （DF） technique with adaptive optics for retinal imaging in vivo is presented to improve retinal imaging contrast. The influence on the imaging contrast introduced by dynamic ocular aberrations should be considered. The qualitative analysis of the influence is discussed. Detail simulation and quantitative analysis are presented. According to our simulation results, when residual aberrations are reduced to less than 5%, it has a little impact on the contrast of DF imaging; while, on increasing the aberrations up to 10%, the contrast of the DF imaging falls off sharply.

Crack Characteristic Measurement in Beryllium after Thermal Shock

he numbers and distribution of cracks in bulk beryllium which was loaded by intense electron beam were observed by optical image analysis, where the crack characteristic measurement and analysis were performed. The results show that: 1) The crack numbers in TR30 of beryllium with fine grain size and relatively high BeO content (no more than 3%) are about 2～4 times more than that in DShG200 of beryllium, whose grain size is larger but BeO content is less than 0.8%, under the same electron beam loading conditions, the ceramic phase of BeO in beryllium makes beryllium more brittle. 2) The successive electron pulse irradiation results in the wider cracks since the cracks formed by the former shot might be enlarged by following shots. The reason might be that there was a stress concentration at original cracks when the second shot came and so that thermal stress raised. DShG200 exhibit the better thermal shock resistance than that of TR30.

Target detection method for moving cows based on background subtraction

Target detection is the fundamental work for perceiving the behavior of cows using video analysis automatically.The videos captured in farming scenes often suffer from a complex background,which leads to difficulty in detecting the target and inconvenience in the subsequent images analysis.In this study,a method was proposed to detect the moving target accurately for cows based on background subtraction.Firstly,the bounding rectangle of cows was calculated using the frames difference method to extract the local background in frames,which were averaged and spliced into one image as the entire background image.Secondly,the size and location of a cow’s body were determined by the bounding rectangle of cows,and the body area was tracked through the video by the binary images.Thirdly,the summation coefficients on RGB channels were adjusted to improve the contrast between the target and background images.Finally,taking the body area in every frame as reference area,the performance of target detection was evaluated by the reference area to determine the optimal summation coefficients on RGB channels,and then background subtraction was processed again to finish the detection.A total of 129 videos were used to test the detection algorithm,and the accuracy of the algorithm was 88.34%,which was 24.85%higher than the classical background subtraction method.The study shows that the algorithm proposed in this study is feasible to detect the target accurately and timely when cows are walking straight in the farming environment under natural light,and this method can improve the detection performance and is an extension to the classical background subtraction method.

Laser elktacytometry is a technique widely used for measuring the deformability of red blood cells(erythrocytes)in blood samples in vitro.In ektacytometer,a flow of highly diluted suspension of erythrocytes in variable shear stress conditions is iluninated with a laser beam to obtain a diffraction pattern.The diffraction pattern provides information about the shapes(shear induced elongations)of the cells under investigation.This paper is dedicated to developing the technique of laser ektacytometry s0 that it would enable one to measure the distrilbution of the erythrocytes in deformability.We discuss the problem of calibration of laser elktacytometer and test a novel data processing algorithm allowing to determine the parameters of the distribution of ery-throcytes deformability.Experimentally,we examined 12 specimens of blood of rats under the action of 4 shear stresses.analysis of the data shows that in conditions of a limited range of digitizing the diffraction patterns,the measurement errors for the mean deformability,deform-ability scatter and the skewness of erythrocytes distribution in deformability by our method are respectively 15%,20%and 20%.
