Dear Editor,Endothelial cell density decreases with age and in various ocular conditions,including corneal endotheliitis,uveitis,pseudoexfoliation syndrome,and birth injury(1)The reduction of endothelial cell density is exacerbated over time after intraocular surgery(1)Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty(DSAEK)is considered the primary procedure for patients with only endothelial dysfunction.

I am writing to present to you a case of central retinal artery occlusion after routine glaucoma valve implantation surgery with retrobulbar anesthesia. Retrobulbar anesthesia has been extensively applied in intraocular surgery for many years. It is generally considered a low risk procedure.

Approximately 10% of UK blindness registrations are attributed to glaucoma . The risk of glaucoma increases with age and it is estimated that the prevalence of chronic open angle glaucoma （COAG） is about 10% in white Europeans who are older than 70. There are an estimated 24.4 million people aged over 40 in England and around 489 000 people are currently affected by COAG.
