Intense anthropogenic exploitation has altered distribution of forest resources. This change was analyzed using visual interpretation of satellite data of 1979, 1999 and 2009. Field and interactive social surveys were conducted to identify spatial trends in forest degradation and data were mapped on forest cover and land use maps. Perceptions of villagers were compiled in a pictorial representation to understand changes in forest resource distribution in central Himalaya from 1970 to 2010. For- ested areas were subject to degradation and isolation due to loss of con- necting forest stands. Species like Lantana camara and Eupatorium adenophorum invaded forest landscapes. Intensity of human pressure differed by forest type and elevation. An integrated approach is needed to monitor forest resource distribution and disturbance.

The objective of the integrated approach is to minimize the cost and duration of the development of the final flow sheet by optimal allocation of the resources to various steps of the development. In the integrated approach, the development of a solvent extraction （SX） flow sheet is done in the following order： 1） Definition of the process： composition of the feed, specification of the product, minimum yield, etc.; 2） Selection of the solvent（s） and studying its chemical and physical properties; 3） Design of the optimal flow sheet using a computer simulation; and 4） Combination of process definition and the results of both the simulation and the laboratory experiments for every battery yields the right type of equipment. Experimental proof of the recommended flow sheet, in the adequate equipment, follows-first in a bench-scale, and then in a full scale pilot or demonstration plant. Following of these simple rules ensures a successful development of the process.

Climate change is an issue of major concern *** impact on the natural and human environment is studied intensively,as the expected shift in climate will be significant in the next few *** experience shows that the effects will be critical in coastal areas,resulting in erosion and inundation phenomena *** addition to that,coastal areas are subject to "pressures" from upstream watersheds in terms of water quality and sediment *** present paper studies the impact of climate change on sediment transport and morphology in the aforementioned coupled *** study regards a sandy coast and its upstream watershed in Chalkidiki,North Greece;it is based on:(a)an integrated approach for the quantitative correlation of the two through numerical modeling,developed by the authors,and(b)a calibrated application of the relevant models Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT)and PELNCON-M,applied to the watershed and the coastal zone,*** examined climate change scenarios focus on a shift of the rainfall distribution towards fewer and more extreme rainfall events,and an increased frequency of occurrence of extreme wave *** indicate the significance of climatic pressures in wide-scale sediment dynamics,and are deemed to provide a useful perspective for researchers and policy planners involved in the study of coastal morphology evolution in a changing climate.

Global change research and sustainable development need to be addressed at larger scales in the light of small scale process studies. Much remains to be done before the small scale, process level understanding of ecosystem responses to global change can be reliably translated to larger scales. The paper reviews the status of scaling issues and tries to find how to extrapolate our observations and our findings at site scale up to regional scale and provide ecological information and interpretations at the regional scale. An integrated approach to scaling-up from site to region is proposed combining hierarchical theory, landscape ecology, remote sensing, geographical information system (GIS) with process/mechanistic modeling. Remote sensing and GIS will play key roles in spatial analysis, integration as well as cross scale modeling.

Understanding the pore water pressure distribution in unsaturated soil is crucial in predicting shallow landslides triggered by rainfall, mainly when dealing with different temporal patterns of rainfall intensity. However, the hydrological response of vegetated slopes, especially three-dimensional (3D) slopes covered with shrubs, under different rainfall patterns remains unclear and requires further investigation. To address this issue, this study adopts a novel 3D numerical model for simulating hydraulic interactions between the root system of the shrub and the surrounding soil. Three series of numerical parametric studies are conducted to investigate the influences of slope inclination, rainfall pattern and rainfall duration. Four rainfall patterns (advanced, bimodal, delayed, and uniform) and two rainfall durations (4h intense and 168-h mild rainfall) are considered to study the hydrological response of the slope. The computed results show that 17% higher transpiration-induced suction is found for a steeper slope, which remains even after a short, intense rainfall with a 100-year return period. The extreme rainfalls with advanced (PA), bimodal (PB) and uniform (PU) rainfall patterns need to be considered for the short rainfall duration (4 h), while the delayed (PD) and uniform (PU) rainfall patterns are highly recommended for long rainfall durations (168 h). The presence of plants can improve slope stability markedly under extreme rainfall with a short duration (4 h). For the long duration (168 h), the benefit of the plant in preserving pore-water pressure (PWP) and slope stability may not be sufficient.

The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic is one of the major health emergencies in decades that affected almost every country in the *** of June 30,2020,it has caused an outbreak with more than 10 million confirmed infections,and more than 500,000 reported deaths *** to the unavailability of an effective treatment(or vaccine)and insufficient evidence regarding the transmission mechanism of the epidemic,the world population is currently in a vulnerable *** daily cases data sets of COVID-19 for profoundly affected countries represent a stochastic process comprised of deterministic and stochastic *** study proposes an integrated deterministic–stochastic approach to forecast the long-term trajectories of the COVID-19 cases for Italy and *** deterministic component of the daily-cases univariate time series is assessed by an extended version of the SIR[Susceptible–Infected–Recovered–Protected–Isolated(SIRCX)]model,whereas its stochastic component is modeled using an autoregressive(AR)time series *** proposed integrated SIRCX-AR(ISA)approach based on two operationally distinct modeling paradigms utilizes the superiority of both the deterministic SIRCX and stochastic AR models to find the long-term trajectories of the epidemic *** analysis based on the proposed ISA model shows significant improvement in the long-term forecasting of COVID-19 cases for Italy and Spain in comparison to the ODE-based SIRCX *** estimated Basic reproduction numbers for Italy and Spain based on SIRCX model are found to be 4.78 and 3.25,*** model-based results reveal that the number of cases in Italy and Spain between 11 May,2020–9 June,2020 will be 10,982(6383–15,582)and 13,731(3395–29,013),***,the expected number of daily cases on 9 July,2020 for Italy and Spain is estimated to be 30(0–183)and 92(0–602),respectively.

This short review summarizes an integrated approach to new methods of managing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) developed at our centre. HCC specific isoforms of alpha fetoprotein were detected by isoelectric focusing and their value in the differential diagnosis of early HCC on a background of chronic liver disease has been shown. Selective internal radiation therapy using yttrium 90 ( 90 Y) microspheres has been shown to be an effective treatment for inoperable HCC in a phase Ⅰ and Ⅱ study. A partition model for estimating the radiation doses from the 90 Y microspheres to the tumour and the non tumorous liver during the therapy was then formulated, verified by correlating with intraoperative dosimetry, and evaluated in clinical settings. This permits 90 Y microspheres to be administered safely without the need of an open surgery and a randomized therapeutic controlled trial is in progress. Another radomized controlled trial using iodine 131 Lipiodol as a post operative adjuvant therapy, aiming at reducing the recurrence rate is also on going. HCC may be more effectively combated with a better understanding of its pathogenesis from chronic liver disease.

In order to effectively cope with exponent increase of the complexity faced to the rock mechanics analysis problems and the large incompatibility existing between the information level required to model the rock mass and engineering and our obtainable information level at hand,the integrated approaches with intelligent characters are proposed. Many previous standard methods,such as precedent type analysis,rock classification,analytic method stress-based,basic numerical methods (BEM,FEM,DEM,hybrid),and their extended numerical methods (fully coupled) to be developed,can be selected respectively or integrated accordingly. It is alternative to develop basic/fully integrated system,and internet-based approaches. These novel methods can also be selected or integrated each other or with the standard methods to perform rock mechanics analysis. Some key techniques to develop these alternative methods are discussed. It may focus in future on developing fully integrated systems and internet-based approaches. Developing an environmental,virtual facility/space shall be firstly done for this collaborative research on internet.

Vocational colleges teaching curriculum reform is an important content. Retail Management course is a relatively new course, more and more attention are paid by the university. But the old education system in the retail management course teaching practice is of flaw. This paper aims to explore retail management curriculum reform. Exploration for integrated teaching methods, combined with ＂Retail Management＂ course teaching reform put forward some theoretical assumptions that based on characteristics of the course, the introduction of integrated retail management courses teaching method is feasible.
