Non-invasive physical therapy as salvage measure for ischemic skin flap:A literature review

This review focuses on the available evidence regarding the molecular mechanisms and treatment potential of several non-surgical physical therapies for managing flap ischemia to propose a non-invasive,economical,and simple treatment to improve flap survival.A review of the literature was conducted on the topics of various non-invasive methods for the treatment of ischemic necrosis of the distal end of the flap between 1988 and 2019.A total of 52 published studies were reviewed on the applications of hyperbaric oxygen therapy,electrical stimulation therapy,heat stress pretreatment,phototherapy,and vibration therapy to manage skin flap *** underlying molecular mechanisms of these physical therapies on revitalizing the dying skin flaps were discussed and preliminary clinical uses of these therapies to salvage the necrotic skin flaps were pooled and summarized for clarifying the safety and feasibility of these *** physical therapy regimens have been ushered to manage necrotic development in cutaneous *** the refinement of these new technologies and enhancement of related basic science research on vascular revitalization,the prevention and treatment of flap ischemia will enter a new era.

Quiet rest ameliorates biochemical metabolism in the brain in a simple concussion rabbit model Evaluation of hydrogen proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy

The present study analyzed changes in the biochemical metabolites N-acetyl aspartate, choline, and creatine in a simple concussion rabbit model following quiet rest, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or interference stimulation through the use of hydrogen proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy detection. Experimental findings showed that brain N-acetyl aspartate and choline peak values significantly decreased, while creatine peak values significantly increased following simple concussion. Following treatments, N-acetyl aspartate and choline peaks returned to normal levels in the quiet rest and hyperbaric oxygen therapy groups, but no changes were observed in the interference stimulation group. Results demonstrated abnormal changes in the brain biochemical metabolism environment following simple concussion. Quiet rest was shown to play an important role in restoration of biochemical metabolism following simple concussion.

Objective To observe the effects when treating craniocerebral injuries with hyperbaric oxygen. Method 61 cases of craniocerebral injuries were treated with HBO. Result Cured: 34 cases (55.7% ), excellent effects: 17cases (27.8% ), effective 7cases (11.5% ), non-effective 3cases (4.9% ), the effective rate was 95.1% . Conclusion HBO is effective on craniocerebral injuries and it is the main aiding treating method of craniocerebral injury rehabilitation treatment.

Background: In recent years, most major avulsion of limb skin were caused by traffic accidents, industry accidents and mechanical traumas, the tissue damage, the operational elimination of subcutaneous fat or skin flap transfer may cause ischemia and hypoxia at the wound, the limb swelling and pain were obvious, the routine treatment was slow and of long recovering time. Objective: To discuss the effects of hyperbaric oxygen to reduce the swelling and pain caused by limb avulsion. Unit: The People's Hospital of Sanshui.
