Tuning the fill percentage in the hydrothermal synthesis process to increase catalyst performance for ozone decomposition

The performance of Ce-OMS-2 catalysts was improved by tuning the fill percentage in the hydrothermal synthesis process to increase the oxygen vacancy *** Ce-OMS-2 samples were prepared with different fill percentages by means of a hydrothermal approach(i.e.80%,70%,50%and 30%).Ce-OMS-2 with 80%fill percentage(Ce-OMS-2-80%)showed ozone conversion of 97%,and a lifetime experiment carried out for more than20 days showed that the activity of the catalyst still remained satisfactorily high(91%).For Ce-OMS-2-80%,Mn ions in the framework as well as K ions in the tunnel sites were replaced by Ce^4+,while for the others only Mn ions were replaced.O2-TPD and H2-TPR measurements proved that the Ce-OMS-2-80%catalyst possessed the greatest number of mobile surface oxygen *** and XAFS showed that increasing the fill percentage can reduce the AOS of Mn and augment the amount of oxygen *** active sites,which accelerate the elimination of O3,can be enriched by increasing the oxygen *** findings indicate that increasing ozone removal can be achieved by tuning the fill percentage in the hydrothermal synthesis process.

Mesoporous composite of LiFePO_4 and carbon microspheres as positive-electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries

Mesoporous LiFePO4/C microspheres consisting of LiFePO4 nanoparticles are successfully fabricated by an eco-friendly hydrothermal approach combined with high-temperature calcinations using cost-effective LiOH and Fe3＋ salts as raw *** this strategy,pure mesoporous LiFePO4 microspheres,which are composed of LiFePO4 nanoparticles,were uniformly coated with carbon（1.5nm）.Benefiting from this unique architecture,these mesoporous LiFePO4/C microspheres can be closely packed,having high tap *** initial discharge capacity of LiFePO4/C microspheres as positive-electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries could reach 165.3 mAh/g at 0.1 C rate,which is notably close to the theoretical capacity of LiFePO4 due to the large BET surface area,which provides for a large electrochemically available surface for the active material and *** material also exhibits high rate capability（100 mAh/g at 8 C） and good cycling stability（capacity retention of 92.2%after 400 cycles at 8 C rate）.

Rational Synthesis of Cylindrical Silver Single-crystalline Nanowires via Poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) Reduction of AgCl

We presented a simple yet convenient hydrothermal approach for the large-scale synthesis of uniform cylindrical silver (Ag) single-crystalline nanowires with diameters of about 25 nm and lengths of 1-4 μm. Poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) was used as a reducing agent, and AgCl was used as a precursor to deliberately control [Ag^+] at a low degree in the overall reaction process through its dynamic equilibrium by directly reducing AgCl with PVP at a quasi-equilibrium growth condition. The as-obtained products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), infrared spectra (IR) and Raman spectra. Factors such as [PVP], reaction temperature, time, and species of reducing agents and precursors were investigated to have strong influences on the morphologies and structures of the resultant Ag nanostructures. The wire diameter can conveniently be adjusted between 25 and 50 nm by simply adjusting [PVP], reaction temperature and reducing agent species. The as-synthesized silver nanowires can be self-assembled into perfect order arrays after being dried on tin foil due to the PVP coating on the surface, the circular cross-section and the uniform diameter of the Ag nanowires. These special silver nanowires with a core-shell structure as well as their spontaneous self-assembly of order arrays are expected to provide potential applications in flexible conductors, dielectric materials, electromagnetic shielding materials and nano-devices.

Silver nanoparticles and silver molybdate nanowires complex for surface-enhanced Raman scattering substrate

Selective synthesis of silver and uniform single crystalline silver molybdate nanowires in large scale can be easily realized by a facile soft template ***6Mo10O33nanowires with a uniform diameter of about 50 nm and the length up to several hundred micrometers were synthesized in large scale for the first time at room temperature using 12-silicotungstic acid system. The silver nanoparticles can be easily synthesized with the assistance of UV-light. Sensitive surfaceenhanced Raman scattering signals of p-aminothiophenol were observed on Ag nanoparticles and silver molybdate nanowires complex. The results demonstrated that synthetic method could be a potential mild way to selectively synthesize various molybdate nanowires with various phases in large scale. The silver nanoparticles and silver molybdate nanowires complex would be proposed for surface-enhanced Raman scattering substrate.

Microspheres of graphene oxide coupled to N-doped Bi_2O_2CO_3 for visible light photocatalysis

Hierarchical microspheres of a graphene oxide（GO） coupled to N‐doped（BiO）2CO3 composite（N‐BOC‐GO） was synthesized by a simple hydrothermal approach. The N‐BOC‐GO composite gave enhancement in photocatalytic activity compared to the pure BOC and N‐BOC samples. With 1.0wt% GO, 62% NO removal was obtained with N‐BOC‐GO. The factors enhancing the photocatalytic performance were the high electron‐withdrawing ability and high conductivity of GO and improved visible light‐harvesting ability of N‐BOC‐GO with a 3D hierarchical architecture due to the surface scattering and reflecting（SSR） effect. An effective charge transfer from N‐BOC to GO was demonstrated by the much weakened photoluminescene intensity of the N‐BOC‐GO composite. This work highlights the potential application of GO‐based photocatalysts in air purification.
