First-principles calculations of the hole-induced depassivation of SiO2/Si interface defects

The holes induced by ionizing radiation or carrier injection can depassivate saturated interface defects.The depassivation of these defects suggests that the deep levels associated with the defects are reactivated,affecting the performance of devices.This work simulates the depassivation reactions between holes and passivated amorphous-SiO_(2)/Si interface defects(HP_(b)+h→P_(b)+H^(+)).The climbing image nudged elastic band method is used to calculate the reaction curves and the barriers.In addition,the atomic charges of the initial and final structures are analyzed by the Bader charge method.It is shown that more than one hole is trapped by the defects,which is implied by the reduction in the total number of valence electrons on the active atoms.The results indicate that the depassivation of the defects by the holes actually occurs in three steps.In the first step,a hole is captured by the passivated defect,resulting in the stretching of the Si-H bond.In the second step,the defect captures one more hole,which may contribute to the breaking of the Si-H bond.The H atom is released as a proton and the Si atom is three-coordinated and positively charged.In the third step,an electron is captured by the Si atom,and the Si atom becomes neutral.In this step,a Pb-type defect is reactivated.

Let G be a graph.We say that G is 2-divisible if for each induced subgraph H of G,either V(H)is a stable set,or V(H)can be partitioned into two sets A and B such thatω(H[A])hole is an induced cycle of length at least 4,a bull is a graph consisting of a triangle with two disjoint pendant edges,a diamond is the graph obtained from K4 by removing an edge,a dart denotes the graph obtained from a diamond by adding a pendant edge to one vertex of degree 3,and a racket denotes the graph obtained from a diamond by adding a pendant edge to one vertex of degree 2.In this paper,we prove that every{odd hole,H}-free graph is 2-divisible,where H is a dart,or a racket,or a bull.As corollaries,X(G)≤min{2ω^(G)-1,(ω^(G)/2+1)}if G is{odd hole,dart}-free,or{odd hole,racket}-free,or{odd hole,bull}-free.

An ellipse-guided routing algorithm in wireless sensor networks

In wireless sensor networks,sensor nodes are deployed to collect data,perform calculations,and forward information to either other nodes or sink nodes.Recently,geographic routing has become extremely popular because it only requires the locations of sensor nodes and is very efficient.However,the local minimum phenomenon,which hinders greedy forwarding,is a major problem in geographic routing.This phenomenon is attributed to an area called a hole that lacks active sensors,which either prevents the packet from being forwarded to a destination node or produces a long detour path.In order to solve the hole problem,mechanisms to detect holes and determine landmark nodes have been proposed.Based on the proposed mechanisms,landmark-based routing was developed in which the source node first sends a packet to the landmark node,and the landmark node then sends the packet to the destination.However,this approach often creates a constant node sequence,causing nodes that perform routing tasks to quickly run out of energy,thus producing larger holes.In this paper,a new approach is proposed in which two virtual ellipses are created with the source,landmark,and destination nodes.Then guide the forwarding along the virtual ellipses.Furthermore,a recursive algorithm is designed to ensure a shortcut even if there are multiple holes or a hole has multiple landmarks.Thus,the proposed approach improves both geographic routing and energy efficiency routing.Simulation experiments show that the proposed approach increases the battery life of sensor nodes,lowers the end-to-end delay,and generates a short path.

A case study of the stability of a non-typical bleeder entry system at a U.S.longwall mine

Longwall abutment loads are influenced by several factors,including depth of cover,pillar sizes,panel dimensions,geological setting,mining height,proximity to gob,intersection type,and size of the gob.How does proximity to the gob affect pillar loading and entry condition?Does the gob influence depend on whether the abutment load is a forward,side,or rear loading?Do non-typical bleeder entry systems follow the traditional front and side abutment loading and extent concepts?If not,will an improved understanding of the combined abutment extent warrant a change in pillar design or standing support in bleeder entries?This paper details observations made in the non-typical bleeder entries of a moderate depth longwall panel—specifically,data collected from borehole pressure cells and roof extensometers,observations of the conditions of the entries,and numerical modeling of the bleeder entries during longwall extraction.The primary focus was on the extent and magnitude of the abutment loading experienced due to the extraction of the longwall panels.Due to the layout of the longwall panels and bleeder entries,the borehole pressure cells(BPCs)and roof extensometers did not show much change due to the advancing of the first longwall.However,they did show a noticeable increase due to the second longwall advancement,with a maximum of about 4 MPa of pressure increase and 5mmof roof deformation.The observations of the conditions showed little to no change from before the first longwall panel extraction began to when the second longwall panel had been advanced more than 915 m.Localized pillar spalling was observed on the corners of the pillars closest to the longwall gob as well as an increase in water in the entries.In addition to the observations and instrumentation,numerical modeling was performed to validate modeling procedures against the monitoring results and evaluate the bleeder design.ITASCA Consulting Group’s FLAC3D numerical modeling software was used to evaluate the bleeder entries.The results of the models indicate

The two-dimensional problem of a thermopiezoelectric material containing an elliptic inclusion or a hole subjected to a remote uniform heat flow is studied. Based on the extended Lekhnitskii formulation for thermopiezoelectricity, conformal mapping and Laurent series expansion, the explicit and closed-form solutions are obtained both inside and outside the inclusion (or hole). For a hole problem, the exact electric boundary conditions on the hole surface are used. The results show that the electroelastic fields inside the inclusion or the electric field inside the hole are linear functions of the coordinates. When the elliptic hole degenerates into a slit crack, the electroelastic fields and the intensity factors are obtained. The effect of the heat how direction and the dielectric constant of air inside the crack on the thermal electroelastic fields are discussed. Comparison is made with two special cases of which the closed solutions exist and it is shown that our results are valid.

A wireless-communication-based measurement of gas pressure with capsule-slime sealing device

To solve the existing problems of imperfect sealing and the inaccurate measurement of gas pressure in traditional sealing,the present study builds a new model of capsule-slime sealing device based on wireless pressure gauge.The new sealing device is mainly composed of two sets of capsules,a capsule connecting piece and a slime part,measures the pressure through the wireless communication technology,and seals through chemical reaction in the capsule,which generates gas to expand the capsule and extrude the pre-stored slime.Two methods of extruding pre-stored slime are proposed:in the first method,transverse force is generated by the expansion of the capsules at both ends,pushing the capsules toward the middle through the chute and squeezing the pre-stored slime out;in the second,high-pressure gas generated in the capsules is led into the expansion tube,which is inserted into the storage tube,squeezing it and letting the slime out to complete the sealing process.Then the research studies the effect of sealing under the condition of drilling with the structure of slime storage tube.The results indicate that the maximum standing time of slime wrapped in metal net is 2 h,instead of the expected 10 d,failing to meet the sealing requirements.When the slime viscosity is 1200–3000 m Paás in the structure of slime storage tube,the best viscosity of slime is achieved and can simulate sealing the drilling hole(5–4,4–2.36,2.36–1.18,1.18–0.15 mm in diameter),as well as the gap caused by mixed sand accumulation.

Numerical investigation of particle deposition on converging slot-hole film-cooled wall

Numerical research on the dilute particles movement and deposition characteristics in the vicinity of converging slot-hole(console) was carried out, and the effect of hole shape on the particle deposition characteristics was investigated. The EI-Batsh deposition model was used to predict the particle deposition characteristics. The results show that the console hole has an obvious advantage in reducing particle deposition in comparison with cylindrical hole, especially under higher blowing ratio. The coolant jet from console holes can cover the wall well. Furthermore, the rotation direction of vortices near console hole is contrary to that near cylindrical hole. For console holes, particle deposition mainly takes place in the upstream area of the holes.

Photocatalytic solar energy conversion to hydrogen is sustainable and attractive for addressing the global energy and environmental issue. Herein, a novel photocatalytic system (NiS/Ni3S4 cocatalysts modified mesoporous TiO2) with superior photocatalytic hydrogen evolution capability through the synergistic impact of NiS/Ni3S4 (NiSx) cocatalyst and efficient hole scavenger has been demonstrated. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution of TiO2-NiSx hybrids with the different content of NiSx and upon different organic hole scavengers was both investigated. The hybrid of TiO2 decorated with 3%(mole ratio of Ni^2+) NiSx cocatalyst in methanol solution showed the optimal photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of 981.59 μmol h^-1 g^-1 which was about 20 times higher than that of bare mesoporous TiO2. Our results suggested that the boosted hydrogen production performance is attributed to both the improved photoinduced electrons migration between NiS and Ni3S4 in cocatalyst and the high hole captured efficiency by hole scavengers of methanol.

Relative Degree Structural hole Centrality, CRD-SH: A New Centrality Measure in Complex Networks

In order to assess influential nodes in complex networks, the authors propose a novel ranking method based on structural hole in combination with the degree ratio of a node and its neighbors. The proposed method is a response to the limitations of other proposed measures in this field. The structural hole gives a comprehensive attention of the information about the node topology in relation to its neighbors, whereas the degree ratio of nodes reflects its significance against the neighbors.Combination of the two aforementioned measures summarized in the structural hole leverage matrix demonstrates the importance of a node according to its position in the network structure. So a more accurate method for ranking influential nodes is established. The simulation results over different-scale networks(small networks with less than 30 nodes, medium networks with less than 150 nodes and large networks with more than 1000 nodes) suggest that the proposed method can rank important nodes more effectively and precisely in complex networks specifically in larger ones.

An Algorithm for Connected-Component Labeling, hole Labeling and Euler Number Computing

Labeling connected components and holes and computing the Euler number in a binary image are necessary for image analysis, pattern recognition, and computer （robot） vision, and are usually made independently of each other in conventional methods. This paper proposes a two-scan algorithm for labeling connected components and holes simultaneously in a binary image by use of the same data structure. With our algorithm, besides labeling, we can also easily calculate the number and the area of connected components and holes, as well as the Euler number. Our method is very simple in principle, and experimental results demonstrate that our method is much more efficient than conventional methods for various kinds of images in cases where both labeling and Euler number computing are necessary.
