A fluid-guided printing strategy for patterning high refractive index photonic microarrays

high refractive index(HRI,n>1.8)photonic structures offer strong light confinement and refractive efficiencies,cover the entire visible spectrum and can be tuned by designing geometric arrayed ***,its practical applications are still hindered by the applicability and material limitation of lithography-based micro/nano fabrication ***,we demonstrate a fluid-guided printing process for preparing HRI selenium *** microstructured flexible template is replicated from the diced silicon wafer without any lithography-based *** heated above the glass transition temperature,the flow characteristics of selenium endows the structure downsizing and orientation patterning between the target substrate and the *** 10 times narrowing selenium microarrays(1.9μm width)are patterned from the non-lithography template(18μm width).HRI selenium microarrays offer high refractive efficiencies and strong optical confinement abilities,which achieve angledependent structurally coloration and ***,the color difference can be recognized under the one degree distinction of the angle between incident and refracted *** printing platform will facilitate HRI optical metasurfaces in a variety of applications,ranging from photonic sensor,polarization modulation to light manipulation.

Carbon black （CB）/polymer composites with high refractive index （RI） were fabricated from poly（vinyl alcohol）（PVA） and covalently functionalized nano-CB （PVA-es-CB） by simple esterification reaction. Transmission electron microscopy showed that tmifonn aggregates of PVA-es-CB nanoparticles with a size smaller than I00 nm formed in the nanocomposite films. Ellipsometric measurements indicated that the PVA-es-CB/PVA composite films had a RI in the range 1.520-1.598 linearly increased with the PVA-es-CB volume content. Theoretical equation based on Lorentz-Lorenz theory provided reasonably close estimation of the refractive indices to the experimentally observed values. The hybrid films also revealed relatively good surface planarity, thermal stability and optical transparency.

In this paper, a high refractive index metamaterial （HRM）, whose element is composed of bilayer square patch （BSP） spaced by a dielectric plate, is proposed. By reducing the thickness of the dielectric plate and the gap between adjacent patches, the BSP can effectively enhance capacitive coupling and simultaneously suppress diamagnetic response, which significantly increases the refractive index of the proposed metamaterial. Furthermore, the high refractive index region is far away from the resonant region of the metamaterial, resulting in broadband. Based on these characteristics of BSP, a gradient refractive index （GRIN） lens with thin thickness （0.34/~0, where 2~0 is the wavelength at 5.75 GHz） is designed. By using this lens, we then design a circularly polarized horn antenna with high performance. The measurement results show that the 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth is 34.8% （4.75 GHz-6.75 GHz） and the antenna gain in this frequency range is increased by an average value of 3.4 dB. The proposed method opens up a new avenue to design high-performance antenna.

A new class of high-entropy oxide glasses 20LaO_(3/2)-20TiO_(2)-20NbO_(5/2)-20WO_(3)-20MO_(3/2)(M=B/Ga/In)were designed and successfully fabricated by aerodynamic containerless *** results show that one can control the properties and increase the functionality of glass by changing the type of *** Vicker's hardness reaches the highest value of 6.45 GPa for glass M=*** best thermal stability and the glass forming ability,measured using the glass-transition temperature T_(g) and the temperature gap ΔT respectively,are found in glass M=In,with T_(g)=740℃ and ΔT=72℃.The optical properties show that the as-prepared glasses exhibit good transparency and high refractive *** for glass M=In,its transmittance reaches almost 78% from visible to IR region,and the value is nearly unchanged after electron beam irradiation,indicating good irradiation resistance of this high-entropy oxide ***,the glass M=In has the highest refractive index(n_(d)=2.46) and low wavelength dispersion(v_(d)=45.6).These results demonstrate that the conceptual design of high-entropy materials is adaptable to high performance oxide glasses,which should be promising host materials for optical applications such as smart phones with digital cameras and endoscopes.

Rutile TiO2 Microspheres with Exposed Nano-Acicular Single Crystals for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Uniquely structured rutile TiO2 microspheres with exposed nano-acicular single crystals have been successfully synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method. After calcination at 450 ℃ for 2 h, the futile TiO2 microspheres with a high surface area of 132 m2/g have been utilized as a light harvesting enhancement material for dye-sensitized solar cells （DSSCs）. The resultant DSSCs exhibit an overall light conversion efficiency of 8.41% for TiO2 photoanodes made of futile TiO2 microspheres and anatase TiO, nanoparticles （mass ratio of 1：1）, significantly higher than that of pure anatase TiO2 nanoparticle photoanodes of similar thickness （6.74%）. Such a significant improvement in performance can be attributed to the enhanced light harvesting capability and synergetic electron transfer effect. This is because the photoanodes made of futile TiO2 microsphere possess high refractive index which improves the light utilisation efficiency, suitable microsphere core sizes （450-800 nm） to effectively scatter visible light, high surface area for dye loading, and synergetic electron transfer effects between nanoparticulate anatase and nano-acicular futile single crystals phases giving high electron collection efficiency.

Synthesis of diverse polythioimidocarbonates via ring-opening copolymerization of epoxides and isothiocyanates catalyzed by organoboron catalyst was reported *** aromatic and aliphatic isothiocyanates underwent successful copolymerization with terminal and internal epoxides,allowing for the precise tuning of the performance of the resultant copolymers over a broad *** wide scope of available isothiocyanates and epoxides enables the direct construction of sulfur-containing functional polymers featuring both high glass transition temperature and refractive ***,it was observed that aromatic isothiocyanates polymerize much faster than aliphatic ones,and the reactivity difference facilitated the one-step synthesis of block polymers from mixed aromatic isothiocyanates,aliphatic isothiocyanates and epoxides due to the preferential incorporation of aromatic isothiocyanates over the aliphatic analogues during their alternating copolymerization with *** produced polythioimidocarbonates can be used as positive resists for electron beam lithography(sensitivity of 130μC/cm^(2) and contrast of 1.53 for poly(CHO-alt-EITC)).Coupling with their high refractive index(1.58—1.68),polythioimidocarbonates might find functional applications in *** results render ring-opening copolymerization of epoxides and isothiocyanates a facile route to enrich functional polymer library.
