Discrimination of Chuanminshen violaceum Sheh et Shen from different regions based on fatty acid profiles of roots and leaves

Objectives:The purpose of this paper was to construct a reliable methodology to discriminate the geographical origins of Chuanminshen violaceum Sheh et Shan planted in different regions in Sichuan,*** and methods:Fatty acid profiles of roots and leaves of *** planted in various regions of Sichuan Province in China,namely Guangyuan(GY),Langzhong(LZ),Jintang(JT),Bazhong(BZ),and Shuangling(SL),were determined using GC-MS followed by multivariate statistical analyses,including orthogonal partial least-squares discriminant analysis and hierarchical clustering ***:Leaves of *** showed the highest contents of hexadecatrienoic acid(3.21 g/kg),linoleic acid(6.62 g/kg),andα-linolenic acid(7.24 g/kg),which were all higher than those contained in *** violaceum samples collected from LZ,JT,and GY could be clearly distinguished based on fatty acid profiles of leaves and those collected from LZ,GY,and BZ could be clearly distinguished based on fatty acid profiles of ***:Chemometric method is used as a potential approach for analyses of fatty acid profiles of roots and leaves to control the quality of *** and their powered products.

Evaluation preparation technology of Xiaochaihu granules using fingerprint-peak pattern matching

An approach was proposed to evaluate preparation technology by means of fingerprint-peak matching technology of high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector （HPLC-DAD）. Similarity and hierarchical clustering analysis （HCA） were applied to identify the 15 batches of Xiaochaihu granules from different manufacturers and our laboratory, and peak pattern matching between the composite formulae and Radix Bupleuri Chinensis, which was one of the main ingredients of Xiaochaihu granules, was utilized to evaluate the preparation technology of Xiaochaihu granules via the indexes of the relative deviation of retention time （RT） and UV spectrum feature similarity of their corresponding peaks. Eleven matching peaks were found between Xiaochaihu granules and Radix Bupleuri Chinensis. However, the saikosaponin A and saikosaponin D, which are the important active components in Radix Bupleuri Chinensis, were not found in Xiaochaihu granules from any manufacturers. The peak areas of 11 characteristic peaks of Xiaochaihu granules samples formed a matrix of 11 × 15. The result of HCA showed that Xiaochaihu granules samples were divided into four kinds of category. Xiaochaihu granules samples from the same manufacturer were basically clustered of the same category. The results suggested that the saikosaponin A and saikosaponin D are prone to structural transformation under the condition of decoction and in the presence of the organic acidic components. These active components, existing in raw herb, might transform to a series of non-active secondary saikosaponin due to unfavourable preparation technology. So the conventional decoction-based preparation technology of Xiaochaihu granules might greatly affect its quality and therapeutic effectiveness. This study demonstrates that fingerprint-peak matching technology can not only be used for quality control of this composite formulae, but also provide some guidance for preparation technology of Xiaochaihu granules.

It is essential to develop effective methods for the quality control of the traditional medicine with multiple ***,few researches on the quality control have been conducted to interpret the holistic characteristics of the traditional medicine in terms of dissolution/*** this study,the multi-component release kinetics of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)dosage forms was characterized and mapped by multivariate analysis techniques in the field of‘‘-omics’’.The Liuweidihuang pill was used as a model *** multi-component release kinetics of the concentrated and water-honeyed Liuweidihuang pills at rotation speeds of 50 and 100 rpm were analyzed by chemomic release kinetic theory and modified LC/MS/MS *** features of 103(concentrated pills)and 101(water-honeyed pills)were selected with a linear correlation coefficient Z0.99 between mass responses and *** compose the chemomic standard spectrum,the relative abundance of both mass features was no less than 1%as compared with an internal *** correlation coefficients between six samples of various solutions were in line with analytical requirements of precision(rZ0.985).The score plots of principal component analysis showed that the concentrated Liuweidihuang pills presented better chemomic release reproducibility than the water-honeyed ***,the impact of rotation speed on the chemomic release was less *** heat maps of hierarchical clustering analysis did not show significant changes in individual clusters of mass features along different time intervals,reflecting the release integrity of the mass ***,both multivariate analysis methods,the principal component analysis and the hierarchical clustering analysis,seemed to be effective techniques to demonstrate the multiple component release performance of *** research provided the basis of a new strategy for the quality control procedures of the dissolution/release for the tradi

This study focuses on the geochemical and bacteriological investigation of surface and ground water in the Bamoun plateau (Western-Cameroon). During the period from September 2013 to August 2014, 71 samples were collected from two springs, one borehole, four wells and the Nchi stream for analysis of major elements. In order to obtain the characteristics of the various species of bacteria, 7 samples were selected. The analytical method adopted for this study is the conventional hydrochemical technic and multivariate statistical analysis, coupled with the hydrogeochemical modelling. The results revealed that, water from the zone under study are acidic to basic, very weakly to weakly mineralized. Four types of water were identified: 1) CaMg-HCO3;2) CaMg-Cl-SO4;3) NaCl-SO4 and 4) NaK-HCO3. The major elements were all listed in the World Health Organization guidelines for drinking water quality, except for nitrates which was found at a concentration > 50 mg /l NO-3 in the borehole F401. As for the hydrobiological aspect, the entire sample contained all the bacteriological species except for spring S301 and well P401. According to the hydrogeochemical modelling, the Gibbs model and multivariate statistical tests, the quality of surface and ground water of the Foumban locality is influenced by two important factors: 1) the natural factors characterized by the water-rock interaction, evapotranspiration/crystallization, 2) the anthropogenic factors such as: uncontrolled discharges of liquid and solid effluents of all kinds and without any prior treatment within the ground and the strong urbanization accompanied by lack of sanitation and insufficient care.

Centella asiatica(L.) Urban is a widely distributed herbaceous plant with great medicinal value that has been extensively used in traditional Chinese *** the effective quality control of ***,a feasible approach and control system is *** this paper,a chemical fingerprint method(high-performance liquid chromatography,HPLC) was developed for investigating and demonstrating the variance of chemical components among different populations of C. asiatica,from 14 locations in *** HPLC data showed considerable variation of chemical constituents among the C. asiatica *** chemotypes was visually developed from the chromatographic *** hierarchical clustering analysis further suggested that the samples were divided into four major *** grouping of the 14 *** populations in hierarchical clustering analysis was in good agreement with the visual comparison of their chromatograms,as demonstrated by the *** addition,the bioactive compound asiaticoside in this herb was quantitatively determined by a validated reverse-phase HPLC *** I was identified as asiaticoside-rich chemotype and exhibited significantly higher amounts of *** finding and results provides a solid basis to establish good agriculture practices and select geo-authentic crude drug for ***,both relative retention times and relative peak areas of characteristic compounds in chromatograms were calculated for identification and quantitative expression of the HPLC *** method validation,relative standard deviation(RSD) of relative retention times and relative peak areas were of not more than 3%.It was concluded that the established method was considered to be suitable for fingerprint analysis to control the quality of ***.
