Mercury sulfides are used in traditional medicines for thousands of years and are still used ***(mainly β-HgS) and cinnabar(α-HgS) are different from mercury chloride(hgcl) and methylmercury(mehg) in their disposition and *** is known on theie intestinal *** address this question,mice were orally administrated with Zuotai(54%□-HgS,30 mg/kg),α-HgS(HgS,30 mg/kg),hgcl(33.6 mg/kg,equal Hg content as HgS),or Mehgcl(3.1 mg/kg,1/10 Hg content as HgS) for 7 *** of Hg,histopathology,gut microbiota,and gut transporter gene expressions were *** body weight gain was decreased by hgcl and mehg,but unaltered after Zuotai and *** and mehg produced dramatic intestinal Hg accumulation,but such changes are mild after Zuotai and *** of ileum and rectum showed that hgcl and mehg produced inflammation and pathological *** expression of transporters PEPT1 was decreased,while the expression of Mrp4 was increased following hgcl and mehg,but unaffected by Zuotai and *** the gut microbiota experiment,the expression of Firmicutes was decreased,while the expression of Prevotellaceae was increased following hgcl and mehg in the content of ileum and *** the other hand,the expression of Enterobacteriaceae and Actinobacterias was increased following Zuotai and ***,Zuotai and HgS differ from hgcl2 and mehg in producing intestinal Hg accumulation,histopathology,transporter expression and gut microbiota *** that mercury sulfides in traditional medicines are distinct from environmental Hg compounds.
