Geological, geophysical and geochemical data show that both of the Dabie Orogen and hefei Basin formed during a Mesozoic orogeny. A three-stage development of the hefei Basin includes down-warping, half grabben, and positive inversion. Both the uplift in orogen and the depression in basin resulted from the 'de-rooting' of orogen and up-welling of the mantle.

On September 20, 2023, the commencement ceremony for the hefeiAdvanced Light Facility (HALF) was held in hefei. The event was hosted by theNational Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) at the University of Scienceand Technology of China (USTC). HALF is a cutting-edge fourth-generation synchrotron radiation light source in the low- energy region, which is located in GangjiTown, Changfeng, within the Future Science City of hefei. As one of the nationallarge research infrastructures, HALF is financially supported by both the centralgovemment of China and Anhui Province. The construction is scheduled to becompleted by September 2028.

New particle formation(NPF)events are an increasingly interesting topic in air quality and climate science.In this study,the particle number size distributions,and the frequency of NPF events over hefei were investigated from November 2018 to February 2019.The proportions of the nucleation mode,Aitken mode,and accumulation mode were 24.59%,53.10%,and 22.30%,respectively,which indicates the presence of abundant ultrafine particles in hefei.Forty-six NPF events occurred during the observation days,accounting for 41.82%of the entire observation period.Moreover,the favorable meteorological conditions,potential precursor gases,and PM_(2.5)range of the NPF events were analyzed.Compared to non-NPF days,the NPF events preferentially occurred on days with lower relative humidity,higher wind speeds,and higher temperatures.When the PM_(2.5) was 15–20,70–80,and105–115μg/m^(3),the frequency of the NPF events was higher.Nucleation mode particles were positively related to atmospheric oxidation indicated by ozone when PM_(2.5) ranged from 15 to 20μg/m^(3),and related to gaseous precursors like SO_(2) and NO_(2) when PM_(2.5)was located at 70-80 and 105–115μg/m^(3).On pollution days,NPF events did not directly contribute to the increase in the PM_(2.5) in the daytime,however,NPF events would occur during the night and the growth of particulate matter contributes to the nighttime PM_(2.5) contents.This could lead to pollution that lasted into the next day.These findings are significant to the improvement of our understanding of the effects of aerosols on air quality.

The discovery of granite gravel in hefei Jurassic backland basin, which came from the Dabie Shan or North Huaiyang, has a great significance for probing into uplift and exhumation of the Dabie orogenic belt. Litho-chemical and isotope chronological analyses on the granite gravel in the Sanjianpu Formation and the Fenghuangtai Formation in Jinzhai County prove that post-orogenic granite was developed in the major provenance of the hefei Basin; that is, Dabie Shan or North Huaiyang. Discordant lower intersection point age of zircon U-Pb of granite gravel is about 214 Ma, and 40Ar/39Ar age of muscovite about 196 Ma, K-Ar age of K-spar about 181 Ma. The former is the diagenetic age of the sample, and the latter two represent the sealed ages of muscovite and K-spar respectively. The age of sedimentary rocks in which a lot of granite gravels appear in the sedimentary section may represent the newest age of the exhumation of the granite body, so we assume that the age is 166 Ma. We conduct a survey of transformational towns and villages in High-tech Development District, Yaohai District and Shushan District, hefei City. Using data, we analyze the "sideline effect" and inherent contradiction of transformational cities, research the policy needs for social security and its trend in the citizenization process of the peri-urban farmers. On this basis, we construct the social security policy system that can adapt to the accelerated process of urbanization. Finally, we put forth the following recommendations for the social security policy in the citizenization process of the peri-urban farmers: distinguishing different groups' policy needs for social security; attaching importance to people's dynamic policy needs for social security in urbanization; focusing on the adaptability of social security policy transformation in urbanization; attaching importance to the social psychosocial environment of social security policy transformation in urbanization; achieving the trinity of non-farm conversion, urbanization and citizenization in the process of urbanization; strengthening the government's dominant position in the building of social security policy system.

A research on the Mesozoic fill-sequences of hefei basin, locatedat the north foot of Dabie Mountains, shows two-phase evolution. The first phase, early- to mid-/late-Jurassic, is characterized by terrestrial clastic deposits, with four times of reverse-grading units at least, and forms greatly thick molass reconstruction in the mid-/late-phase, which reflects gradually strong thrusting-orogenesis in the north Dabie and flexural depression in the north foreland of Dabie Mountains. The second phase, late-Jurassic to Cretaceous, includes two-episode rifting processes. The first episode (J3) shows calc-alkalic and alkali volcanic rocks interstratified pyroclastic rocks, which may reflect upwelling igneous magma from mantle-source due to the Yangtze continent slab breakoff induced by deep subduction process. A suite of lacustrine, fluvial and piemount facies, about 3000?/FONT>3500 m in thickness, develops in the second episode (J3 -K1), which reflects regional extensional setting and intense elevator diversity of mountain-basin in the study area. This research renews and deepens cognition for the Mesozoic Dabie orogenesis.

Compositions of Jurassic detrital garnets in hefei Basin and its implication to provenance reconstruction and stratigraphic correlation

The compositions of Jurassic detrital garnets in hefei Basin are complicated. Contents of the end member are from zero to 43% for pyrope, from less than 1% to 50% for grossular, from 2% to 92% for almandine, and from zero to 88% for spessartine. Part of relatively pyrope-rich detrital garnets might be originated from high pressure-ultrahigh pressure metamorphic rocks. Contents of spessartine in garnets from the present metamorphic rocks of the Dabie Mountains, including the greenschists of Foziling Group, are lower than 30%. Therefore, they would not be the source of the spessartine-rich detrital garnets in the Jurassic sedimentary rocks of the hefei Basin. Chemical compositions of the Jurassic detrital garnets in the hefei Basin have some characteristics in the distribution with strata, which can be applied to study of the sedimentary filling sequence and stratigraphic correlation.
