Effects of AMP579 and adenosine on L-type Ca2+current in isolated rat ventricular myocytes

Aim:To compare the effects of AMP579 and adenosine on L-type Ca2+current(ICa-L)in rat ventricular myocytes and explore the mechanism by which AMP579acts on ***:ICaLwas recorded by patch-clamp technique in ***:Adenosine(10nmol/L to 50μmol/L)showed no effect onbasal ICaL,but it inhibited the ICaLinduced by isoproterenol 10 nmol/L in a concen-tration-dependent manner with the IC50of 13.06 μmol/*** to adenosine,AMP579 also showed an inhibitory effect on the ICaLinduced by ***579 and adenosine(both in 10 μmol/L)suppressed isoproterenol-inducedICaLby 11.1% and 5.2%, *** addition,AMP579 had a direct inhibitoryeffect on basal ICaLin a concentration-dependent manner with IC50(1.17 μmol/L).PD 116948(30μmol/L),an adenosine A1receptor blocker,showed no action on theinhibitory effect of AMP579 on basal ***,GF109203X(0.4μmol/L),aspecial protein kinase C(PKC)blocker,could abolish the inhibitory effect of AMP579on basal I*** the inhibitory effect of AMP579 on basal ICaLwas inducedthrough activating PKC,but not linked to adenosine ***:AMP579 shows a stronger inhibitory effect than adenosine on the ICaLinducedby ***579 also has a strong inhibitory effect on basal ICaLin ratventricular *** of PKC is involved in the inhibitory effect ofAMP579 on basal ICaLat downstream-mechanism.

Kirschner wire migration from the right second rib to the right ventricle： a case report

Migrations of orthopedic wires to car- diovascular system are uncommon and rarely reported. We report a case of right ventricle embolization with the Kirschner wire that was used for right 2nd rib osteosynthesis 2 years and 8 months previously in a 50-year-old man. The patient was asymptomatic and migration of the Kirschner wire was discovered by routine chest X-ray. An 8 cm-long Kirschner wire was successfully retrieved from the right ventricle. The treatment strategy for Kirschner wire removal from right ventricle is discussed.

Real-time Three-dimensional Echocardiography in Assessment of Left Ventricular and Right Ventricular Volumes

Real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT3DE)is a new ultrasound technique that enables dynamic threedimensional visualization and quantification of the heart in real time. Investigation of feasibility and methodology of RT3DE in determining left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) volumes, RT3DE was performed in 35 normal adults using Philips SONOS 7500 system with a 2-4 MHz matrix array transducer. The 60°×60° 'pyramid' volume database was obtained and analyzed on a TomTec echo workstation. Both LV and RV volumes were calculated with four 3DE methods (i.e. apical 2, 4, 8, and 16-plane) through manually tracing ventricular endocardial borders in end diastole and end systole. Stroke volumes were then calculated. LV volume was also measured by 2DE Simpson's rule using GE VIVID 7 ultrasound machine.
