Cardiovascular fitness of divers is overwhelmingly performed using bicycle ergometry.A more sport-specific alternative presents fit2dive,an underwater spiroergometry *** of this exploratory study:using fit2dive to investigate the diagnostic value of measures of heart rate variability(HRV)after markedly increasing physical *** scuba divers employed the fit2dive system and increased fin-swimming speed until *** gas consumption(VE)and heart rate(HR)were measured.A three-lead ECG was recorded to analyze for time and frequency domain *** increased from 16.5±6.5 to 68.3±26.6 L/*** increased from 96±13 beats/min(mean±SD)at rest to 170±14 beats/min before *** variability(SDNN:132±42 vs.54±17 ms)decreased along with two measures of parasympathetic activity(RMSSD:59±31 vs.24±16 ms;pNN50:22%±12%vs.3%±3%).Measures from the frequency domain decreased[low frequency(LF):3167±2651 vs.778±705 ms_(2)]or remained unaltered[high frequency(HF):885±652 vs.431±463 ms^(2)].Thus,LF/HF decreased from 4.3±2.3 to 2.5±*** sports-specific fit2dive can help assessing diving fitness by employing HRV ***,this study supports the view that these measures much depend on ***,HRV measures regarding altered autonomic control during exercise will lead to serious misinterpretation:as HR increases,variability decreases.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of Guasha therapy on the rating of perceived exertion(RPE) scale score, and heart rate variability(HRV).METHODS: A randomized controlled trial of Guasha(skin scraping) was compared with a sham scraping group and control group. Sixteen sessions within an 8-week period were completed. Sixty-five male weightlifters who had undergone normal weightlifting training for a mean of 5 years before study commencement were recruited. The RPEscale score of "snatch", "clean and jerk" maneuvers(85% of one-repetition maximum), and HRV were measured before and after the ***: The RPE scale score for snatch, clean and jerk were reduced significantly after intervention in the Guasha group and sham group. However, there was a significant difference in the low frequency(LF) domain and LF/high frequency(HF) ratio(P <0.05): the LF domain decreased, and the LF/HF ratio ***: Guasha could be used to reduce the RPE scale score, and increase the response to *** could be considered as an alternative to some types of recovery from sports training.

Background Elevated resting heart rate and hypertension independently increase the risk of mortality. However, their combined ef- fect on mortality in stages of hypertension according to updated clinical guidelines among dderly population is unclear. Methods We fol- lowed a cohort of 6100 residents （2600 males and 3500 females） of Kangwha County, Korea, ranging from 55 to 99 year-olds as of March 1985, for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality for 20.8 years until December 31, 2005. Mortality data were collected through telephone calls and visits （to 1991）, and were confirmed by death record matching with the National Statistical Office （1992-2005）. Hazard ratios were calculated for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality by resting heart rate and hypertension defined by Eighth Joint National Committee crite- ria using the Cox proportional hazard model after controlling for confounding factors. Results The hazard ratios associated with resting heart rate 〉 80 beats/min were higher in hypertensive men compared with normotensives with heart rate of 61-79 beats/rain, with hazard ratios values of 1.43 （95% CI： 1.00-1.92） on all-cause mortality for prehypertension, 3.01 （95% CI： 1.07-8.28） on cardiovascular mortality for prehypertension, and 8.34 （95% CI： 2.52-28.19） for stage 2 hypertension. Increased risk （HR： 3.54, 95% CI： 1.16-9.21） was observed among those with both a resting heart rate 〉 80 beats/rain and prehypertension on cardiovascular mortality in women. Conclusions Indi- viduals with coexisting elevated resting heart rate and hypertension, even in prehypertension, have a greater risk for all-cause and cardiovas- cular mortality compared to those with elevated resting heart rate or hypertension alone. These findings suggest that elevated resting heart rate should not be regarded as a less serious risk factor in elderly hypertensive patients.

Objective To investigate the effects of physical activity （PA） on dyslipidemia and elevated resting heart rate （RHR） in a large-scale cross-sectional study in China. Methods We recruited community-based individuals who were 40-60 years old using a cluster sampling method. The PA levels of the participants were classified as low, moderate, or high, using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. Dyslipidemia was defined as the detection of abnormalities in lipid indicators, and 4 lipid parameters were evaluated using fasting blood samples. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the associations of PA with dyslipidemia and RHR. Results A total of 10,321 participants （38.88% men） were included in this study. The percentages of individuals with high, moderate, and low PA levels were 46.5%, 43.9%, and 9.6%, respectively. In both men and women, high PA provided odds ratios of 0.88 [95% confidence interval （CI）： 0.83, 0.94] for dyslipidemia and 0.82 （95% CI： 0.73, 0.92） for elevated RHR, compared to participants with low PA. Conclusion Our data suggested that substantial health benefits （related to dyslipidemia and elevated RHR） occurred at higher intensity PA, with greater energy consumption, in middle-aged Chinese people, and particularly in men.

Objective To study the relationship between resting heart rate and blood lipid level. Methods A total of 9 415 subjects aged≥40 years were included in the present study. Their resting heart rate was monitored and their serum levels of triglyceride （TG）, total cholesterol （TC）, low density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL-C） and high density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDL-C） were measured to define dyslipidemia according to the 2007 Chinese Guidelines on Prevention and Treatment of Dyslipidemia in Adults. Results The subjects were divided into group A with their resting heart rate〈70 beats/min, group B with their resting heart rate=70-79 beats/min, group C with their resting heart rate=80-89 beats/min, and group D with their resting heart rate≥90 beats/min. High TG, TC, and LDL-C were presented across the resting heart rate （Ptrend〈0.01）. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that the risk of high TG and TC was higher in subjects with their resting heart rate≥90 beats/min than in those with their resting heart rate〈70 beats/min （OR=1.42;95%CI：1.16-1.74 and OR=1.33;95%CI：1.09-1.64, respectively）. Conclusion Elevated resting heart rate is associated with high TG and TC in middle-aged and elderly Chinese subjects.

BACKGROUND： Dysfunctional autonomic cardiac regulation is thought to be associated with high mortality in epileptic patients. OBJECTIVE： To explore changes in sympathetic and parasympathetic activities in epileptic patients with repetitive generalized tonic-clonic seizures by observing interictal heart rate. DESIGN, TIME AND SEI-I＇ING： A case-control study was performed at the Buddhist Tzu Chi General Hospital from July 2006 to May 2009. PARTICIPANTS： A total of 30 patients, comprising 15 males and 15 females, who presented with chronic epilepsy and repetitive generalized tonic-clonic seizures according to International League Against Epilepsy guidelines （ILAE, 1989）, were selected. In addition, 30 matched, healthy volunteers were selected as controls. METHODS： Lead I electrocardiogram was performed in the epilepsy and control groups for 5 minutes during a daytime interictal period. Frequency-domain analysis of heart rate variability was performed using fast Fourier transformation. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： heart rate interval, high frequency （HF; 0.15-0.45 Hz） power, low frequency （LF; 0.04-0.15 Hz） power, and LF/（HF ＋ LF） expressed in normalized units （LF%）. RESULTS： Compared with the control group, the epilepsy group exhibited a significantly lower mean heart rate interval and HF power, but a significantly greater LF% （P〈 0.01）. There was no significant difference in LF power between the groups （P = 0.17）. CONCLUSION： Patients with chronic epilepsy exhibited faster heart rates during interictal periods, which could contribute to hiclher sympathetic and lower parasympathetic activities.

Appropriate heart rate in a failing pulmonary ventricle remains unknown, particularly in congenital heart diseasewith unique hemodynamics. A 71-year-old male with repaired tetralogy of Fallot and a pacemaker for a sinusnode dysfunction suffered from heart failure symptoms with preserved left ventricular function. Simply changingthe pacemaker’s lower rate from 60 to 75 bpm, New York heart Association classification improved from III to II,and hemodynamic parameters drastically improved. We regarded this case as informative. Appropriate heart ratecould be higher in congenital patients with failing right and non-failing left ventricles than in adults with malfunctioningLV.

BACKGROUND During surgery for gastric cancer,peritoneal lavage using warm distilled water can cause temporary hemodynamic *** To examine the associations between changes in heart rate and single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs).METHODS This was a prospective observational study of patients with gastric cancer who underwent gastrectomy and peritoneal hypotonic lavage at the Third Afliated Hospital of Soochow University from March 2018 to March *** SNPs were selected,and the verified exons were *** rate and blood pressure(BP)were measured before and after *** patients were grouped as heart rate change≥30%vsrate dropped by 0%-10%in 65 participants,by 10%-15%in 29,by 15%-20%in 23,by 20%-50%in 39,by 50%-100%in four,six had a cardiac arrest,and 28 had an increase in heart *** the possible impact of exonic SNPs on the phenotypes,TEP1(rs938886),TEP1(rs1713449),and RECQL5(rs820196)were *** haplotype analysis suggested that the haplotypes CTT[odds ratio(OR)=2.018,95%confidence interval(CI):1.012-4.025,P=0.0430]and GCC(OR=2.293,95%CI:1.174-4.477,P=0.0131)of TEP1(rs938886),TEP1(rs1713449),and RECQL5(rs820196)increased the risk of a drop in heart rate>30%.CONCLUSION The TEP1(rs938886),TEP1(rs1713449),and RECQL5(rs820196)SNPs were associated with changes in heart rate≥30%during intraperitoneal lavage using distilled water after gastrectomy for gastric cancer.
