Combined CNN-LSTM Deep Learning Algorithms for Recognizing Human Physical Activities in Large and Distributed Manners:A Recommendation System

Recognizing human activity(HAR)from data in a smartphone sensor plays an important role in the field of health to prevent chronic diseases.Daily and weekly physical activities are recorded on the smartphone and tell the user whether he is moving well or not.Typically,smartphones and their associated sensing devices operate in distributed and unstable environments.Therefore,collecting their data and extracting useful information is a significant challenge.In this context,the aimof this paper is twofold:The first is to analyze human behavior based on the recognition of physical activities.Using the results of physical activity detection and classification,the second part aims to develop a health recommendation system to notify smartphone users about their healthy physical behavior related to their physical activities.This system is based on the calculation of calories burned by each user during physical activities.In this way,conclusions can be drawn about a person’s physical behavior by estimating the number of calories burned after evaluating data collected daily or even weekly following a series of physical workouts.To identify and classify human behavior our methodology is based on artificial intelligence models specifically deep learning techniques like Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM),stacked LSTM,and bidirectional LSTM.Since human activity data contains both spatial and temporal information,we proposed,in this paper,to use of an architecture allowing the extraction of the two types of information simultaneously.While Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)has an architecture designed for spatial information,our idea is to combine CNN with LSTM to increase classification accuracy by taking into consideration the extraction of both spatial and temporal data.The results obtained achieved an accuracy of 96%.On the other side,the data learned by these algorithms is prone to error and uncertainty.To overcome this constraint and improve performance(96%),we proposed to use the fusion mechanisms.The last combines deep learnin

Summary What is already known about this topic?Since the launch of China healthy Lifestyle for All(CHLA),each action area has been evaluated at the local level and effective results have been achieved in most areas.What is added by this report?Based on the Reach,Effectiveness,Adoption,Implementation,and Maintenance(RE-AIM)model,the study found that there is an imbalance in the development of CHLA,and some of the action goals and indicators are not satisfactory.What are the implications for public health practices?A national action evaluation index system should be built to ensure the sustainability and scientific nature of this strategy.In addition,the government needs to attach great importance to CHLA to effectively help residents take health actions.

Tuberculosis(TB)is a global public health problem,especially in China.China has the third largest TB burden in the world with nearly 0.9 million new TB cases emerging annually.Despite impressive achievements,China still faces many challenges in TB control that threaten further progress and the ability to meet the targets of the End TB strategy if not addressed.On July 15,2019,the State Council of China issued healthy China Initiative 2019-2030,which proposed 15 special campaigns including the Tuberculosis Control Action to guide the way for China’s TB prevention and control.This article introduces the current status of TB in China,achievements reached so far,and challenges remaining and interprets the targets and strategies from the individual,society,and government level in the Tuberculosis Control Action.

Study of the safety of oral Triphala aqueous extract on healthy volunteers

Background:Triphala extract is a well known medicinal herbal formula which is usually prescribed by Thai traditional doctors to adjust the physiological functions of the body.Previous studies have reported that Triphala has antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,antihypercholesterolemia and anticancer properties.Though this herbal recipe is commonly used in Thailand,its human safety,especially in the oral form,has not been studied.We therefore conducted a clinical trial(Phase I).Objective:This study evaluated the safety of administering the aqueous extract of Triphala to healthy volunteers at 2500 mg/d.Design,setting,participants and interventions:An open-label,single-arm trial was conducted at Chulabhorn International College of Medicine,Thammasat University,Pathum Thani,Thailand,between July 2017 and July 2018.The study enrolled 10 male and 10 female healthy volunteers;all were given Triphala(water extract;five capsules of 500 mg each)orally,once a day,at bedtime,for four consecutive weeks.Main outcome measures:Signs and symptoms,physical examinations,hematology and blood chemistry were assessed at the beginning of the trial and every week thereafter,for four consecutive weeks.After finishing the trial,on day 28,all volunteers were invited to a follow-up session on day 35 to evaluate the safety of the herbal recipe using the same measurements.Results:At the oral dose of 2500 mg/d,Triphala had no serious adverse effects in healthy volunteers.Moreover,it was found to have significantly improved the volunteers’high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)levels on day 35 and also reduced their blood sugar levels on days 14 and 35.Conclusions:We conclude that aqueous extract of Triphala is safe for healthy volunteers and that it elevates HDL-C levels and lowers blood sugar.Further clinical study should investigate its effects on HDL-C and blood sugar levels among the dyslipidemic and prediabetic groups.Trial registration:This trial was registered in the Thai Clinical Trial Registry with the identifier TCTR20180423002.

Motor inhibition efficiency in healthy aging: the role of γ-aminobutyric acid

The ability to cancel a motor response is critical for optimal functioning in various facets of daily life. Hence, efficient inhibitory motor control is a key function throughout the lifespan. Considering the fact that inhibitory motor function gradually declines with advancing age, it is not surprising that the study of motor inhibition in this age group is gaining considerable interest. In general, we can distinguish between two prominent types of motor inhibition, namely proactive and reactive inhibition. Whereas the anticipation for upcoming stops(proactive inhibition) appears readily preserved at older age, the ability to stop an already planned or initiated action(reactive inhibition) generally declines with advancing age. The differential impact of aging on proactive and reactive inhibition at the behavioral level prompts questions about the neural architecture underlying both types of inhibitory motor control. Here we will not only highlight the underlying structural brain properties of proactive and reactive inhibitory control but we will also discuss recent developments in brain-behavioral approaches, namely the registration of neurochemical compounds using magnetic resonance spectroscopy. This technique allows for the direct detection of the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain, i.e., γ-aminobutyric acid, across the broader cortical/subcortical territory, thereby opening new perspectives for better understanding the neural mechanisms mediating efficient inhibitory control in the context of healthy aging. Ultimately, these insights may contribute to the development of interventions specifically designed to counteract age-related declines in motor inhibition.
