Initial corrosion kinetics of X52 anti-h2s pipeline steel exposed to 90 ℃/1.61 MPa h2s solutions was investigated through high temperature and high pressure immersion tests. corrosion rates were obtained based on weight loss calculation. The corrosion products were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy （sEM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and electron probe micro-analysis （EPMA）. The initial corrosion kinetics was found to obey the exponential law. With increasing immersion time, the main corrosion products changed from iron-rich mackinawite to sulfur-rich pyrrhotite. The corrosion films had two layers： an inner fine-grained layer rich in iron and an outer columnar-grained layer rich in sulfur. The corrosion film formed through the combination of outward diffusion of Fe2＋ ions and inward diffusion of hs^- ions. The variation of the corrosion products and compaction of the corrosion layer resulted in a decrease in the diffusion coefficient with increasing immersion time. The double-layered corrosion film formed after long time immersion acted as an effective barrier against diffusion.

The corrosion behavior of X52 pipeline steel in h2s solutions was investigated through immersion corrosion test which was carried out in a high temperature and high pressure autoclave at different temperatures and h2s concentrations. General corrosion rates were calculated based on the weight loss of samples. The morphology and the chemical composition of the corrosion products were obtained by scanning Electron Microscopy （sEM） and Energy Dispersive spectroscopy （EDs）. The crystal structure of corrosion products was analyzed by X-Ray diffraction patterns （XRD）. The corrosion products consisted mainly of the sulfide compounds （mackinawite, cubic ferrous sulfide, troilite and pyrrhotite）. The corrosion products included two layers: the inner iron-rich layer and the outer sulfur-rich layer. Under h2s concentrations of 27g/L, the corrosion rate increased with the increase of temperature up to 90 ℃and then decreased at 120 ℃, finaly increased again. The corrosion rate first increased with h2s concentrations then decreased at 120 ℃. The structure and stability of the corrosion products due to different corrosion mechanism had a major impact on the corrosion rate. The corrosion resistance of the corrosion products increased as follows: mackinawite ＜ cubic ferrous sulfide ＜ troilite ＜ pyrrhotite.

Degradation of hydrogenated Nitrile-butadiene Rubber in Aqueous solutions of h2s or hCI

The degradation of hydrogenated nitrile-butadiene rubber（hNBR） soaped in aqueous solutions of hzs and hC1 was investigated, The samples unexposed and exposed to different solutions were characterized by 13C nuclear magnetic resonance（~3C NMR）, X-ray photoelectron and infrared spectroscopies. In contrast to those of unexposed samples and samples soaped in hCI solution, the mechanical properties of samples exposed to h2s solution signifi- cantly deteriorated, in which the new groups of C（=O）--Nh2, C--s--C and C=s emerged. The mechanism of C=s and C--s--C formation was speculated, except for that of the formation of group C（=O）--Nh2, which was widely discussed in acidic condition such as hC1 solution. The formation of C--s--C was due to radical reaction in- itiated by mercapto radical and that of C=s was due to nucleophilic reaction initiated by mercapto cations. This finding is helpful to understanding the seal failure of hNBR in working cnvironment containing h2s.

A new intelligent amperometric type of electrochemical hydrogen probe to measure hydrogen atom permeation rate in the metals was devised and developed. Combined with MCs51 single slice computer system, specially programmed software was designed for data sampling, logging, storing, processing, result judgment and data output controlling. The probe is portable and can be used in both lab and in site automatically.
