A new algorithm for the fixed-node quantum Monte Carlo method

A novel algorithm is proposed for the fixed-node quantum Monte Carlo (FNQMC) *** contrast to previous procedures,its 'guiding function' is not optimized prior to diffusion quantum Monte Carlo (DMC) computation but synchronistically in the diffusion process The new algorithm can not only save CPU time,but also make both of the optimization and diffusion carried out according to the same sampling fashion,reaching the goal to improve each other This new optimizing procedure converges super-linearly,and thus can accelerate the particle diffusion During the diffusion process,the node of the 'guiding function' changes incessantly,which is conducible to reducing the 'fixed-node error' The new algorithm has been used to calculate the total energies of states X3B1 and a1A1 of CH2 as well as π-X2B1 and λ-2A1 of NH2 The singlet-triplet energy splitting (λEsT) in CH2 and π energy splitting in NH2 obtained with this present method are (45 542±1.840) and (141.644±1.589) kJ/mol,respectively The calculated results show that the novel algorthm is much superior to the conventional fixed-node quantum Monte Carlo in accuracy,statistical error and computational cost

Surgical resection of mandible owing to benign,malignant neoplasm,osteoradionecrosis is common. The resection can be total or segmental depending on the lesion. Loss of mandibular continuity causes deviation of remaining mandibular segment towards the resected side and rotation inferiorly due to muscle pull and scar contracture affecting mastication and esthetics. Surgical reconstruction may not be always possible. Prosthetic rehabilitation plays a major role in these patients. This case series describes different types of guiding flange(GF) prosthesis with modifications for three hemimandibulectomy patients at different time interval after surgery. The article details GF prosthesis combined with physiotherapy to correct deviation of mandible thereby improving mastication,esthetics and speech and thus enhancing the quality of life.

Three-dimensional(3D)printing is a rapidly evolving and promising field to improve outcomes of orthopaedic *** use of patient-specific 3D-printed models is specifically interesting in paediatric orthopaedic surgery,as limb deformity corrections often require an individual 3D *** this editorial,various operative applications of 3D printing in paediatric orthopaedic surgery are *** technical aspects and the imaging acquisition with computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are ***,there is a focus on the intraoperative applications of 3D printing during paediatric orthopaedic surgical *** overview of various upper and lower limb deformities in paediatrics is given,in which 3D printing is already implemented,including posttraumatic forearm corrections and proximal femoral *** use of patient-specific instrumentation(PSI)or guiding templates during the surgical procedure shows to be promising in reducing operation time,intraoperative haemorrhage and radiation ***,3D-printed models for the use of PSI or patient-specific navigation templates are promising in improving the accuracy of complex limb deformity surgery in ***,the future of 3D printing in paediatric orthopaedics extends beyond the intraoperative applications;various other medical applications include 3D casting and prosthetic limb *** conclusion,3D printing opportunities are numerous,and the fast developments are exciting,but more evidence is required to prove its superiority over conventional paediatric orthopaedic surgery.

Objective: To describe the latest progress in the use of botulinum neurotoxin for post-stroke limb spasm. Methods: This paper looks up the relevant research literatures in recent years in PubMed, Web of Science, Springer, Ovid, CNKI, WanFang databases and summarizes them. Results: The latest progress in the use of botulinum neurotoxin for post-stroke limb spasm was studied from the following aspects: the action mechanism of botulinum neurotoxin;efficacy evaluation;injection dose;target muscle selection;guiding technology;combination therapy. Conclusion: Botulinum neurotoxin is the first-line treatment for post-stroke limb spasm. We need to make continuous improvement and progress from the treatment period, injection dose, target muscle selection, guiding technology and efficacy evaluation to improve the quality of life of the majority of post-stroke survivors in China.

By reviewing the development of wetlands used for wastewater treatment both in China and other countries, the definition and classification of wetlands for wastewater treatment are put forward and the guiding principle in the construction of wetlands for wastewater treatment is discussed in this paper. In view of the process of wastewater treatment of the wetlands, appropriate landscape structure of wetlands used for wastewater treatment is proposed which includes three sections as pre-treatment, wetlands and posttreatment. The discussion as well as conclusion is made upon the approaches of landscape construction of these three parts.
