Cretaceous volcanic-intrusive magmatism in western guangdong.and its geological significance

Systematic zircon LA-ICPMS U-Pb dating reveals that Cretaceous volcanic-intrusive activities developed in western guangdong. Representative volcanic rocks, i.e. Maanshan and Zhougongding rhyodacites, have zircon U-Pb isotopic ages of 100±1 Ma, and the intrusive ones in-cluding the Deqing monzonitic granite body and the Xinghua granodiorite body in the Shidong com-plex, as well as the Tiaocun granodiorite body in the Guangping complex yield ages of 99±2 Ma, ca. 100 Ma, and 104±3 Ma respectively. The biotite-granites of the Shidong complex main body (461±35 Ma) and that of the Guangping complex (444±6 Ma) are Caledonian. In spite of the big time interval between Cretaceous volcanic-intrusive magmatisms and Caledonian intrusive ones, both of them are characterized by enrichment in Rb, Th, Ce, Zr, Hf, Sm, depletion in Ba, Nb, Ta, P, Ti, Eu, and weakly REE tetrad effect. Eu negative anomalies are: Cretaceous volcanic rocks (Eu/Eu*=0.74), Cretaceous intrusive rocks (Eu/Eu*=0.35―0.58), Caledonian biotite granites (Eu/Eu*=0.31―0.34). Studies of Sr-Nd isotope data show that all these igneous rocks have high initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.7105―0.7518), and low εNd(t) values (?7.23―?11.39) with their Nd two-stage model ages ranging from 1.6―2.0 Ga, which suggest that they all derived from the Proterozoic crustal basement of southeast China. The occurrence of Cretaceous volcanic-intrusive magmatisms in western guangdong.is related with the important lithospheric extension event in southeast China (including Nanling region) at ca. 100 Ma. The “volcanic line” defined by the large scale Mesozoic intermediate-acidic volcanic magmatisms in southeast China may further extend to the southwest margin of Nanling region.

Underworld-GT Applied to guangdong.a Tool to Explore the Geothermal Potential of the Crust

Geothermal energy potential is usually discussed in the context of conventional or engineered systems and at the scale of an individual reservoir. Whereas exploration for conventional reservoirs has been relatively easy, with expressions of resource found close to or even at the surface, exploration for non-conventional systems relies on temperature inherently increasing with depth and searching for favourable geological environments that maximise this increase. To utilitise the information we do have, we often assimilate available exploration data with models that capture the physics of the domi- nant underlying processes. Here, we discuss computational modelling approaches to exploration at a regional or crust scale, with application to geothermal reservoirs within basins or systems of basins. Target reservoirs have （at least） appropriate temperature, permeability and are at accessible depths. We discuss the software development approach that leads to effective use of the tool Underworld. We explore its role in the process of modelling, understanding computational error, importing and exporting geological knowledge as applied to the geological system underpinning the guangdong.Province, China.

The age of the "old red sand" on the coasts of south Fujian and west guangdong. China

The sedimentary strata and deposition ages of the 'old red sand' distributed along the coasts of south Fujian and west guangdong.are determined by lithostratigraphy, magnetic stratigraphy and earth chemistry combined with TL, ESR and 14C-dating techniques. The research shows that the 'old red sand' was aeolian sediments deposited from 55 400 to 9 000 aBP, the last glacial period in the middle and later age of Late Pleistocene. Most of them deposited in two periods of 56-42 ka and 30-10 ka. The 'old red sand' deposited in the period of 30-10 ka, the later Wurm glacier substage (Q33), developed on the largest scale with the widest distribution.

1 Geological setting and samples Songxi Ag-Sb ore deposit is located in the southern margin of Yongding-Mexian Paleozoic depressionof South China Caledonian orogenic belt, and the northern margin of Zhaigang Mesozoic volcanic basin,where a series of faults and folds formed with northwest tectonic directions. The sedimentary rocks arecomposed of Songling Group of low Jurassic system, Zhangping Group of middle Jurassic system and Quaternary System in which Songling Group can be divided into 3 lithostratigraphic units regionally, where thetwo of the units can be found there, i.e. the middle unit with gray-yellow quartz sandstone, fine sandstone and siltstone, and the upper with black shale and tuff, in which layered Ag-Sb ore bodies are deposited, and especially in the low part of quartz sandstone, siltstone, bioclastic limestone and the alteredbasalt are the main ore-bearing rocks. The ore bodies can be divided into two types of mineralization, i.e. bedded or bedded-like types and vein type.

Administrative division system changes and urbanization in China

s—This paper ana1yses the relationship between the administrative division system changes (ADSC) and the urbanization process in China, especially in guangdong.Province since the 1980s. It points out that there are three high tides in ADSC since the 1980s relevant to the changes of economic development. The guiding principle for ADSC is to give local government incentives by transferring more administrative powers to them and bringing along regional development by central city. This paper also discusses problems existed and future prospectives.

In the autumn of 2010,a large outbreak was reported in guangdong.Province through the acute viral conjunctivitis (AHC) surveillance system,resulting in more than 69,000 *** the 69,635 cases reported during the August-October period in 2010,73.5 % of index cases originated from students,children in kindergarten and workers in *** male to female ratio was 1.84:1 among 0-19 years.56 representative specimens collected from different regions in guangdong.Province were used for virus isolation and molecular-based ***24v was confirmed as the etiological pathogen of the ***,the phylogenetic analysis for the VP1 and 3C region on the viral genome was performed for 16 CA24v isolates,with results indicating that they belonged to the same genomic group ***,full nucleotide sequences for two representative isolates in 2010 were determined and compared with others,and frequent protein mutations were found in the multiple *** conclusion,a CA24v strain caused the 2010 AHC outbreak in guangdong.*** were the main population *** population density,an adaptive climate,and new mutations in the viral nucleic acids and proteins may have contributed to the outbreak.
