Effects of Water-retaining Agents on growth, development, Yield and Quality of Soybean under Drought Stress

[Objectives]The paper was to explore the effects of different doses of water-retaining agent on the growth and development indicators,yield and quality of soybean plants subjected to drought stress.[Methods]The effects of drought stress(MDS)and drought stress with low(MDS-L),medium(MDS-M)and high doses(MDS-H)of the water-retaining agent on the growth and development indicators,root activity,MDA content,antioxidant enzyme activity,yield and quality of soybean were studied by field plot test,with the normal water supply serving as the control(CK).[Results]In response to drought stress,the plant height,stem diameter,and yield of soybean exhibited a notable ***,the contents of protein,fat,linoleic acid,and linolenic acid in seeds demonstrated a significant ***,the root activity and antioxidant enzyme activity exhibited a noticeable decline,while the MDA content exhibited an *** application of varying doses of the water-retaining agent was found to significantly enhance soybean growth,stimulate root activity,and elevate antioxidant enzyme activity,while concurrently reducing MDA *** observed effects were found to be dose-dependent,with the greatest effects observed at the highest *** comparison to MDS,the yields of soybean in the MDS-L,MDS-M,and MDS-H treatments exhibited a 18.38%,25.58%,and 46.26%increase,***,the content of protein,fat,linoleic acid,and linolenic acid in seeds demonstrated a notable enhancement.[Conclusions]The application of the water-retaining agent has been demonstrated to significantly promote the growth of soybean plants under conditions of drought stress,resulting in an improvement in both the yield and the quality of the soybean *** recommended dosage of the water-retaining agent is 3.3 kg/667 m 2.

Black soldier fly(BSF),Hermetia illucens(Diptera:Stratiomyidae),is a promi-nent insect for the bioconversion of various organic *** a saprotrophic insect,the BSF inhabits microbe-rich ***,the influences of the intestinal mi-croorganisms on BSF growth and development are not very *** this study,the dy-namics of the intestinal bacterial community of BSF larvae(BSFL)were analyzed using ***,Bacteroidetes,Firmicutes,and Proteobacteria were the most prevalent bacterial phyla in the intestines of all larval *** dynamic changes in bacterial community compositions among different larval instars were striking at the genus ***,Clostridium,Providencia,and Dysgonomonas were the relatively most abundant bacteria in the 1st-to 4th-instar BSFL,*** and Providencia also dominated the 5th-and 6th-instar larvae,at ratios of 31.1%and 47.2%,*** total,148 bacterial strains affiliated with 20 genera were isolated on differ-ent media under aerobic and anaerobic *** them,6 bacteria,BSF1-BSF6,were selected for further *** inoculation of the 6 isolates independently into germ-free BSFL feeding on an artificial diet showed that all the bacteria,except BSF4,sig-nificantly promoted BSF growth and development compared with the germ-free ***,Dysgonomonas,Klebsiella,Ochrobactrum,and Providencia promoted BSF development significantly by increasing the weight gains of larvae and pupae,as well as increasing the prepupae and eclosion *** addition,Citrobacter,Klebsiella and Prov-idencia shortened the BSF life cycle *** results illustrate the promotive effects of intestinal bacteria on BSF growth and development.

The Multifaceted Roles of HY5 in Plant growth anc development

ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL5 （HY5）, a member of the bZlP transcription factor family, inhibits hypocotyl growth and lateral root development, and promotes pigment accumulation in a light-dependent manner in Arabidopsis. Recent research on its role in different processes such as hormone, nutrient, abiotlc stress （abscisic acid, salt, cold）, and reactive oxygen species signaling pathways clearly places HY5 at the center of a transcriptional network hub. HY5 regulates the transcription of a large number of genes by directly binding to cis-regulatory elements. Recently, HY5 has also been shown to activate its own expression under beth visible and UV-B light. Moreover, HY5 acts as a signal that moves from shoot to root to promote nitrate uptake and root growth. Here, we review recent advances on HY5 research in diverse aspects of plant development and highlight still open questions that need to be addressed in the near future for a complete understanding of its function in plant signaling and beyond.

Dosage Effects of Fadrozole on growth and development of Sex-Reversed Genetic Female Chickens

Fadrozole, an aromatase inhibitor, can masculinize genetic female chickens and high-dose decreases the hatchability. Therefore, it is important to study the growth and development of sex-reversed females after hatch. Chick embryos from a population of CAU3 egg-type were treated with different concentrations of Fadrozole prior to the sexual differentiation at E3.0 （st18）. At hatch, the phenotypic sex and genetic sex were identified by vent sexing and genetic diagnosis with CHD1, respectively. Body weight and shank length of sex reversal were tested at 8 and 20 wk, respectively. Testicular development, oviduct and ovarian degeneration were observed and serum concentration of estradiol and testosterone were tested with radioimmunoassay （RIA） at 30 wk. The results showed that body weight and shank length of sex- reversed females were not significantly different between low-dose groups （0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 mg for F1, F2, and F3, respectively） and high-dose groups （1.0 and 1.3 mg for F4 and F5, respectively）（P〉0.05）. Left and right testes or ovotestes in F2, F3, F4, and F5 groups were heavier than that of in F1 group （P〈0.05）. While the gonad weight of treatment groups were less than that in male control （P〈0.05）, oviduct weight in F2, F3, F4, and F5 groups were significant differences compared with female control and F1 group （P〈0.05）. Egg number from onset of laying egg to 30 wk in F4 and F5 groups were less than in female control, F1 and F2 groups （P〈0.05）. Serum testosterone level in F5 group was significant higher compared with female control, F1, F2, F3, and F4 groups （P〈0.05）, but significant lower compared with male control （P〈0.05）. While concentration of serum estradiol in F5 group was significant lower compared with female control, F1, F2, and F4 groups （P〈0.05）. In conclusion, the concentration of Fadrozole do not affect postnatal growth of sex-reversed female chicken and the degree of sex-reversed females elevate with the increase of Fadrozole concentration at

[Objectives]This study was conducted to analyze and study the growth and development of muscle fibers at different stages,so as to provide a theoretical basis for subsequent research on developmental biology and nutritional regulation.[Methods]The body weights of black goat lambs in groups at different month age(0-6 months old)were recorded,and the diameter,area and number of muscle fibers were measured by tissue section and hematoxylin-eosin *** curves of body weight and muscle fiber growth and development of black goat lambs were drawn.[Results]The black goat lambs maintained a high absolute growth intensity of 2.95-4.35 kg/30 d throughout the rearing cycle,and the body weight continued to increase significantly,while the relative growth coefficient decreased from 93.05%at the age of 30 d to 13.83%at the age of 180 *** diameter and area of muscle fibers in black goat lambs showed obvious"three-stage"growth and development characteristics,and showed different trends of gender advantages in different stages.[Conclusions]This study will help to further optimize the key supporting technologies for production and promote the diversified and comprehensive development of the mutton sheep industry in Sichuan Province.

DNA damage binding protein 1(DDB1) and CUL4-associated factor 7(DCAF7), also known as WDR68, regulate a series of biological activities such as growth and development of organisms. In this paper, the nucleotide sequence and the secondary structure and tertiary structure of the encoded protein were analyzed by an online bioinformatics program, and the biological function, deletion effects and expression level of the gene in different tissues were reviewed, in order to provide reference for the study of this gene as a genetic marker affecting livestock production performance.

Effects of Milk Quality on growth and development of Suckling Calves

[Objectives]This study was conducted to study the effects of cows'milk quality on suckling calves'growth and development.[Methods]A total of 80 regular milk samples from Simmental and Angus cows were collected to complete the detection of conventional milk components.[Results]Under the same feeding and management conditions,the chemical composition of Simmental cows'milk was better than that of Angus cows'*** milk fat in Simmental cows'milk was beneficial to calves'early growth and development,and high milk protein in Angus cows'milk composition was conducive to calves'early weight gain.[Conclusions]This study provides a theoretical basis for reducing calves'mortality,alleviating calves'stress,and improving the economic benefits of beef cattle breeding.

Functions of Phytochrome in Rice growth and development

Phytochrome family mainly senses red and far-red light to regulate a range of developmental processes throughout the life cycle of plants. Rice phytochrome gene family is composed of three members known as PHYA, PHYB and PHYC. It has been elucidated that individual phytochromes display both unique and overlapping roles in rice photomorphogenesis by characterization of all rice phytochrome mutants including single mutants, all combinations of double mutants as well as triple mutants. Based on the published data and authors’ ongoing studies, current knowledge of rice phytochrome functions in regulating seedling de-etiolation, root gravitropic response and elongation, plant architecture, flowering time and fertility is summarized. Additionally, the important issues in the field of rice phytochromes are proposed.

[ Objective ] The paper was to study growth and physical structure of Holstein cows at specific phase under intensive rearing conditions in the South China. [ Method] The body sizes of 279 Holstein cows including 49 calves, 35 young cows and 195 adult cows in the experimental farm of Yangzhou University were measured. The raw data were processed by computer to obtain body size index at various physiological stages. The body size indexes were analyzed by SPSS 15.0 software to reflect changes in different physiological stages and various parities of cows. Body size indexes such as body height, body length and heart girth of young cows and calves were fitted by scatter plot. [ Result] The eider the cows were, the longer their bodies were. Calves had a stable growth and development. The body size of young cow at different month-ages was imbalanced. The physical structure of adult cows showed no regularity at different parities, so the specific feeding for growth and development of bone should be strengthened in multiparous cows. [ Conclusion] The study provides reference for keeping management of calves, breeding and keeping management of young cows as well as selection and assortative mating of adult cows.
