This is a qualitative study aimed at finding the lexical and grammatical errors students of three Senior High Schoolsin the Central Region of Ghana commit in their essay writing. The study also sought to examine the frequency ofthe errors and what can be done to improve the teaching of L2 （English） writing in the Senior High School. Thestudy used a corpus of essay writings of 150 second year students. The schools and the participants werepurposively selected. The data were analyzed using the content analysis approach. The study identified that thelexical errors in the students＇ writing were due to homophone problems and semantic lexical errors. Thegrammatical errors identified were agreement errors, tense errors, singular-plural （number） errors, prepositionalerrors, and article errors. The study also found that the most frequently committed grammatical error was tenseerrors followed by agreement errors. The implications of these findings to the teaching of English writing are thatteachers where possible should have understanding of both the L1 and L2 of the students and teachers shouldexplicitly teach for transfer, have adequate knowledge of how to identify students＇ writing errors, and use effectiveteaching strategies to improve students＇ English writing. Additionally, teachers should serve as models of usingappropriate English for students to emulate and also create a conducive classroom environment for students toparticipate in class activities. Lastly, teachers should create more opportunities for students to write.

Music,as an informal variety of language,is an indispensable component of culture,which has permeated into every corner of society,with an extreme intimate tie with people’s everyday life.Song lyrics,the carrier of music,are the representation of the style of this language variety,music.Once song lyrics are written,not matched with the melody,they acquire the independent value of literature.As a result,stylistic features of song lyrics are certainly different from those features of poetry,prose,novel,etc.Therefore,it is of necessity and importance to study the stylistic features of song lyrics.Bruno Mars,as a singer and songwriter,is now regarded as one of the most successful solo artists in all over the world.He participates in the creation of his songs.This paper,from the point of stylistics,aims at the analysis of the grammatical features of the pop songs of Bruno Mars on examples of 4 number-one singles on th e Billboard Hot 100.

Quantitative correlation of several theoretical electrophilicity measures over different families of organic compounds are examined relative to the experimental values of Mayr et al.Notably,the ability to predict these values accurately will help to elucidate the reactivity and selectivity trends observed in charge-transfer reactions.A crucial advantage of this theoretical approach is that itprovides this information without the need of experiments,which are often demanding and time-consuming.Here,two different types of electrophilicity measures were analyzed.First,models derived from conceptual density functional theory(c-DFT),including Parr's original proposal and further generalizations of this index,are investigated.For instance,the approaches of Gázquez et al.and Chamorro et al.are considered,whereby it is possible to distinguish between processes in which a molecule gains or loses electrons.Further,we also explored two novel electrophilicity definitions.On one hand,the potential of environmental perturbations to affect electron incorporation into a system is analyzed in terms of recent developments in c-DFT.These studies highlight the importance of considering the molecular surroundings when a consistent description of chemical reactivity is needed.On the other hand,we test a new definition of electrophilicity that is free from inconsistencies(so-called thermodynamic electrophilicity).This approach is based on Parr's pioneering insights,though it corrects issues present in the standard working expression for the calculation of electrophilicity.Additionally,we use machine-learning tools(i.e.,symbolic regression) to identify the models that best fit the experimental values.In this way,the best possible description of the electrophilicity values in terms of different electronic structure quantities is obtained.Overall,this straightforward approach enables one to obtain good correlations between the theoretical and experimental quantities by using the simple,yet powerful,interpretative advantage of c-DFT method

【hypothesis】Classically a prediction derived from a theory,such that if the prediction itself proves false then the theory must be questioned.For example,if a learning theory predicts that language learners will benefit more from uncontrolled practice than from controlled practice with grammatical explanations,we can therefore hypothesize,for the sake of an experiment,that a given group of learners will make significantly more practical linguistic progress engaging in uncontrolled practice than a parallel group engaging in controlled practice with grammatical explanations.If this result is not obtained,then the original learning theory will need to be re-examined.

[grammatical syllabus]This is the oldest type of syllabus used in foreign language teaching.It was not until the grammar translation method became firmly established in the nineteenth century and supplanted the"classical method",which set out to teach style and rhetoric as well as grammar,that structure came to be seen,until the early 1970s and the proposal of the notional/functional syllabus(see NOTIONAL/FUNCTIONAL SYLLABUSES),as the major obstacle facing the language learner,and mastery of structure as the key to understanding and using the target language.

It should be presupposed that all writers and texts have their individual qualities before the analysis goes ahead.In this paper,the analysis will be made respectively in terms of the four categories listed as follows:lexical categories,grammatical categories,figures of speech,and cohesion and context.We can draw a conclusion that the style of D.H.Lawrence is simpleness and directness and he seems not fond of complicating the superficial account,and turns to the natural and the essential tools to reveal the most original and animalized nature of the human being which,in his mind,is the most important and the essence of the nature rules.
