Are genetically distinct lizard species able to hybridize？ A review

Animal species are delimited by reproductive isolation mechanisms （RIMs）. Postzygotic RIMs are mainly products of genetic differences and thus their strength increases with elapsed divergence time. The relationship between postzygotic repro- ductive isolation and genetic divergence, however, differs considerably among major clades of vertebrates. We reviewed the available literature providing empirical evidence of natural and/or experimental hybridization between distinct species of lizards （squamates except snakes）. We found that hybridization events are widely distributed among nearly all major lizard clades. The majority of research focuses on parthenogenetic species and/or polyploid hybrids in families Lacertidae, Teiidae and Gekkonidae. Homoploid bisexual hybrids are mainly reported within Lacertidae and Iguania groups. As a proxy of genetic divergence of the hybridizing taxa we adopted nucleotide sequence distance （HKY85） of mitochondrial cyt b gene. The upper limit of genetic di- vergence was similar with regard to both parthenogenetic and bisexual hybrids. Maximum values of these distances between hy- bridizing species of lizards approached 18%-21%, which is comparable to or even exceeds the corresponding values reported for other principal clades of vertebrates. In spite of this, F1 hybrids are typically at least partially fertile in lizards and thus genetic introgression between highly divergent species is possible. The relationship between the genetic distance and hybrid fertility was not found [Current Zoology 61 （1）： 155-180, 2015].

genetic Diversity and Interrelationship Among Mulberry Genotypes

Fourteen morphometric traits were used to examine the genetic divergence of 25 mulberry （Morus spp.） genotypes from varied agroclimatic conditions of India. Wide variation was observed for all the traits. The genotypes irrespective of their place of collection were grouped into 10 different clusters. Seven accessions, that is, Baragura-2, Gorabandha-2, Kalimpong, Herbertpur, Kollegal, Resham majri-7, and UP-14 each a cluster of unique entries will be of useful for genetic resources. Nevertheless, the correlation and path analysis suggest the direct selection of lamina length, fresh leaf weight, leaf area, and single leaf weight will be rewarding for mulberry leaf yield improvement.

Description of a new parthenogenetic species of Thalassaphorura (Collembola: Onychiuridae) from East China, with DNA barcoding analyses

Thalassaphorura houtanensis sp. nov. from Shanghai, East China is described. It is similar to T. encarpata （Denis, 1931） in having labial palp of type A and the same pseudocelli formula on the body. It can be distinguished by the shape of unguis, chaetotaxy of labium, maxillary out lobe and ventral tube. It was confirmed as an absolutely parthenogenetic species after a reproduction test in the lab. In addition, the DNA barcoding sequences of this new species were sequenced and analyzed. The intraspecific genetic divergence is 0.18% on average and ranges from zero to 0.46%.

The Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau（QTP） is well known an extensive mountain range,whose heterogeneous landscape together with Quaternary climatic oscillations significantly affected organism diversity and distribution in *** genus Aquilegia is a model example of a rapid and recent radiation through the Northern ***,the processes governing genetic differentiation of the genus in this complex geographic area are still widely ***,Aquilegia ecalcarata,characterized by non spur marked morphological specificity and occurring in the mountains of QTP and adjacent region was used to test the correlation between evolutionary *** genotyped individuals from 17 populations throughout the entire range in western China using five the chloroplast genes,nuclear internal transcribed spacer（ITS） and 13 nuclear microsatellite loci to determine the genetic structure,divergence time and demographic history of populations and the variation in floral traits associated with reproductive *** found that diversity and differentiation among populations of *** at the ecological,morphological and reproductive levels also involved divergence at the genetic *** populations were divided into two distinct evolutionary units,including Hengduan Mountains and Eastern QTP lineages,during the late *** floral traits（e.g herkogamy） is important to explore the ecological impact of reproductive success in *** analytical comparison of fixation and population differentiation indexes allowed us to infer hypotheses of the postglacial history and more recent demographic events that have influenced the genetics of the *** findings suggest that heterogeneous environment have facilitated the formation of distinct genetic divergence patterns in *** and habitat adaptation has been driving the subsequent ecological and reproductive divergence.

Peroxide isoenzyme pattern and RAPD profiling of Inonotus obliquus strain JL01 and other three strains JLZ1、JLZ2、JLC 1 which were mutated from JL01 by ultraviolet radiation and C were conducted in order to determine genetic *** number and colour of isozyme bands and DNA fragments of JLZ1、JLZ2、JLC 1 were different from JL01,indicating that genes of mutagenic strains relative to the original one had changed greatly.
