Granular Ionogel Particle Inks for 3D Printed Tough and Stretchable Ionotronics

Ionogels have garnered great attention as promising soft conducting materials for the fabrication of flexible energy storage devices,soft actuators,and ionotronics.However,the leakage of the ionic liquids,weak mechanical strength,and poor manufacturability have greatly limited their reliability and applications.Here,we propose a new ionogel synthesis strategy by utilizing granular zwitterionic microparticles to stabilize ionic liquids.The ionic liquids swell the microparticles and physically crosslink microparticles via either electronic interaction or hydrogen bonding.Further introducing a photocurable acrylic monomer enables the fabrication of double-network(DN)ionogels with high stretchability(>600%)and ultrahigh toughness(fracture energy>10 kJ/m^(2)).The synthesized ionogels exhibit a wide working temperature of−60 to 90℃.By tuning the crosslinking density of microparticles and physical crosslinking strength of ionogels,we synthesize DN ionogel inks and print them into three-dimensional(3D)motifs.Several ionogelbased ionotronics are 3D printed as demonstrations,including strain gauges,humidity sensors,and ionic skins made of capacitive touch sensor arrays.Via covalently linking ionogels with silicone elastomers,we integrate the ionogel sensors onto pneumatic soft actuators and demonstrate their capacities in sensing large deformation.As our last demonstration,multimaterial direct ink writing is harnessed to fabricate highly stretchable and durable alternating-current electroluminescent devices with arbitrary structures.Our printable granular ionogel ink represents a versatile platform for the future manufacturing of ionotronics.

The implementation of an intelligent road network system requires many sensors for acquiring data from roads,bridges,and vehicles,thereby enabling comprehensive monitoring and regulation of road networks.Given this large number of required sensors,the sensors must be cost-effective,dependable,and environmentally friendly.Here,we show a laser upgrading strategy for coal tar,a low-value byproduct of coal distillation,to manufacture flexible strain-gauge sensors with maximum gauge factors of 15.20 and 254.17 for tension and compression respectively.Furthermore,we completely designed the supporting processes of sensor placement,data acquisition,processing,wireless communication,and information decoding to demonstrate the application of our sensors in traffic and bridge vibration monitoring.Our novel strategy of using lasers to upgrade coal tar for use as a sensor not only achieves the goal of turning waste into a resource but also provides an approach to satisfy large-scale application requirements for enabling intelligent road networks.

Atom-optically synthetic gauge fields for a noninteracting Bose gas

Synthetic gauge fields in synthetic dimensions are now of great interest.This concept provides a convenient manner for exploring topological phases of matter.Here,we report on the first experimental realization of an atom-optically synthetic gauge field based on the synthetic momentum-state lattice of a Bose gas of ^(133)Cs atoms,where magnetically controlled Feshbach resonance is used to tune the interacting lattice into noninteracting regime.Specifically,we engineer a noninteracting one-dimensional lattice into a two-leg ladder with tunable synthetic gauge fields.We observe the flux-dependent populations of atoms and measure the gauge field-induced chiral currents in the two legs.We also show that an inhomogeneous gauge field could control the atomic transport in the ladder.Our results lay the groundwork for using a clean noninteracting synthetic momentum-state lattice to study the gauge field-induced topological physics.

Application of distributed model predictive control based on neighborhood optimization in gauge-looper integrated system of tandem hot rolling

To solve the coupling relationship between the strip automatic gauge control and the looper control in traditional control strategy of tandem hot rolling,a distributed model predictive control(DMPC)strategy for the tandem hot rolling was explored,and a series of simulation experiments were carried out.Firstly,based on the state space analysis method,the multivariable dynamic transition process of hot strip rolling was studied,and the state space model of a gauge-looper integrated system in tandem hot rolling was established.Secondly,DMPC strategy based on neighborhood optimization was proposed,which fully considered the coupling relationship in this integrated system.Finally,a series of experiments simulating disturbances and emergency situations were completed with actual rolling data.The experimental results showed that the proposed DMPC control strategy had better performance compared with the traditional proportional-integral control and centralized model predictive control,which is applicable for the gauge-looper integrated system.

Generalized laws of refraction and reflection at interfaces between different photonic artificial gauge fields

Artificial gauge fields the control over the dynamics of uncharged particles by engineering the potential landscape such that the particles behave as if effective external fields are acting on them.Recent years have witnessed a growing interest in artificial gauge fields generated either by the geometry or by time-dependent modulation,as they have been enablers of topological phenomena and synthetic dimensions in many physical settings,e.g.,photonics,cold atoms,and acoustic waves.Here,we formulate and experimentally demonstrate the generalized laws of refraction and reflection at an interface between two regions with different artificial gauge fields.We use the symmetries in the system to obtain the generalized Snell law for such a gauge interface and solve for reflection and transmission.We identify total internal reflection(TIR)and complete transmission and demonstrate the concept in experiments.In addition,we calculate the artificial magnetic flux at the interface of two regions with different artificial gauge fields and present a method to concatenate several gauge interfaces.As an example,we propose a scheme to make a gauge imaging system-a device that can reconstruct(image)the shape of an arbitrary wavepacket launched from a certain position to a predesigned location.

The discovery of artificial gauge fields controlling the dynamics of uncharged particles that otherwise elude the influence of standard electromagnetic fields has revolutionised the field of quantum simulation.Hence,developing new techniques to induce these fields is essential to boost quantum simulation of photonic structures.Here,we experimentally demonstrate the generation of an artificial gauge field in a photonic lattice by modifying the topological charge of a light beam,overcoming the need to modify the geometry along the evolution or impose external fields.In particular,we show that an effective magnetic flux naturally appears when a light beam carrying orbital angular momentum is injected into a waveguide lattice with a diamond chain configuration.To demonstrate the existence of this flux,we measure an effect that derives solely from the presence of a magnetic flux,the Aharonov-Bohm caging effect,which is a localisation phenomenon of wavepackets due to destructive interference.Therefore,we prove the possibility of switching on and off artificial gauge fields just by changing the topological charge of the input state,paving the way to accessing different topological regimes in a single structure,which represents an important step forward for optical quantum simulation.

A Lattice Non-Perturbative Definition of an SO(10) Chiral gauge Theory and Its Induced Standard Model

The standard model is a chiral gauge theory where the gauge fields couple to the right-hand and the left-hand fermions differently.The standard model is defined perturbatively and describes all elementary particles(except gravitons)very well.However,for a long time,we do not know if we can have a non-perturbative definition of the standard model as a Hamiltonian quantum mechanical theory.Here we propose a way to give a modified standard model(with 48 two-component Weyl fermions)a non-perturbative definition by embedding the modified standard model into an SO(10)chiral gauge theory.We show that the SO(10)chiral gauge theory can be put on a lattice(a 3D spatial lattice with a continuous time)if we allow fermions to interact.Such a non-perturbatively defined standard model is a Hamiltonian quantum theory with a finite-dimensional Hilbert space for a finite space volume.More generally,using the defining connection between gauge anomalies and the symmetry-protected topological orders,one can show that any truly anomaly-free chiral gauge theory can be non-perturbatively defined by putting it on a lattice in the same dimension.

gauge Transformation for BCr-KP Hierarchy and Its Compatibility with Additional Symmetry

The BCr-KP hierarchy is an important sub-hierarchy of the KP hierarchy. In this paper, the BCr-KP hierarchy is investigated from three aspects. Firstly, we study the gauge transformation for the BCr-KP hierarchy.Different from the KP hierarchy, the gauge transformation must keep the constraint of the BCr-KP hierarchy. Secondly,we study the gauge transformation for the constrained BCr-KP hierarchy. In this case, the constraints of the Lax operator must be invariant under the gauge transformation. At last, the compatibility between the additional symmetry and the gauge transformation for the BCr-KP hierarchy is explored.
