AtWRKY75 positively regulates age-triggered leaf senescence through gibberellin pathway

WRKY transcription factors play essential roles during leaf senescence.However,the mechanisms by which they regulate this process remains largely unknown.Here,we identified the transcription factor WRKY75 as a positive regulator during leaf senescence.Mutations of WRKY75 caused a delay in agetriggered leaf senescence,whereas overexpression of WRKY75 markedly accelerated this process.Expression of senescence-associated genes(SAGs)was suppressed in WRKY75 mutants but increased in WRKY75-overexpressing plants.Further analysis demonstrated that WRKY75 directly associates with the promoters of SAG12 and SAG29,to activate their expression.Conversely,gaI and RGL1,two DELLA proteins,can suppress the WRKY75-mediated activation,thereby attenuating SAG expression during leaf senescence.Genetic analyses showed that gaI gain-of-function or RGL1 overexpression can partially rescue the accelerated senescence phenotype caused by WRKY75 overexpression.Furthermore,WRKY75 can positively regulate WRKY45 expression during leaf senescence.Our data thus imply that WRKY75 may positively modulate age-triggered leaf senescence through the gibberellin-mediated signaling pathway。

Hypocotyl formation during the epigeal germination of seedlings is under strict hormonal regulation. In a 3 d old Zinnia elegans seedling system, gibberellic acid （ga3） exerts an opposite effect to that exerted by light on hypocotyl photomorphogenesis because gaz promotes an etiolated-like growth with an inhibition of radial （secondary） growth. For this reason, the effect of ga3 on the basic peroxidase isoenzyme from Z. elegans （ZePrx）, an enzyme involved in hypocotyl lignin biosynthesis, was studied. The results showed that ga3 reduces ZePrx activity, similarly to the way in which it reduces seedling secondary growth. This hormonal response is supported by the analysis of the ZePrx promoter, which contains four types of ga3-responsive cis.elements： the W Box/O2S; the Pyr Box; the gaRE; and the Amy Box. Taken together, these results suggest that ZePrx is directly regulated by ga3, with this effect matching the inhibitory effect of ga on the hypocotyl secondary growth.

In order to obtain accurate probability integration method(PIM) parameters for surface movement of multi-panel mining, a genetic algorithm(ga) was used to optimize the parameters. As the measured surface movement is affected by more than one mining panel, traditional PIM parameter inversion model is difficult to ensure the reliability of the results due to the complexity of rock movement. With crossover,mutation and selection operators, ga can perform a global optimization search and has high computation efficiency. Compared with the pattern search algorithm, the fitness function can avoid falling into local minima traps. ga reduces the risk of local minima traps which improves the accuracy and reliability with the mutation mechanism. Application at Xuehu colliery shows that ga can be used to inverse the PIM parameters for multi-panel surface movement observation, and reliable results can be obtained. The research provides a new way for back-analysis of PIM parameters for mining subsidence under complex conditions.

Seed plants have evolved to maintain the dormancy of freshly matured seeds until the appropriate time for germination. Seed dormancy and germination are distinct physiological processes, and the transition from dormancy to germination is not only a critical developmental step in the life cycle of plants but is also impor- tant for agricultural production. These processes are precisely regulated by diverse endogenous hormones and environmental cues. Although ABA （abscisic acid） and gas （gibberellins） are known to be the primary phytohormones that antagonistically regulate seed dormancy, recent findings demonstrate that another phytohormone, auxin, is also critical for inducing and maintaining seed dormancy, and therefore might act as a key protector of seed dormancy. In this review, we summarize our current understanding of the sophisticated molecular networks involving the critical roles of phytohormones in regulating seed dormancy and germination, in which AP2-domain-containing transcription factors play key roles. We also discuss the interactions （crosstalk） of diverse hormonal signals in seed dormancy and germination, focusing on the ABA/ga balance that constitutes the central node.

This paper presents an efficient and reliable genetic algorithm (ga) based particle swarm optimization (PSO) tech- nique (hybrid gaPSO) for solving the economic dispatch (ED) problem in power systems. The non-linear characteristics of the generators, such as prohibited operating zones, ramp rate limits and non-smooth cost functions of the practical generator operation are considered. The proposed hybrid algorithm is demonstrated for three different systems and the performance is compared with the ga and PSO in terms of solution quality and computation efficiency. Comparison of results proved that the proposed algo- rithm can obtain higher quality solutions efficiently in ED problems. A comprehensive software package is developed using MATLAB.

Hormone modulation of legume-rhizobial symbiosis

Leguminous plants can establish symbiotic associations with diazotropic rhizobia to form nitrogen- fixating nodules, which are classified as determinate or indeterminate based on the persistence of nodule meristem. The formation of nitrogen-fixing nodules requires coordinating rhizobial infection and root nodule organogenesis. The formation of an infection thread and the extent of nodule formation are largely under plant control, but vary with environmental conditions and the physiological state of the host plants. Many achievements in these two areas have been made in recent decades. Phytohormone signaling pathways have gradually emerged as important regulators of root nodule symbio- sis. Cytokinin, strigolactones （SLs） and local accumulation of auxin can promote nodule development. Ethylene, jasmonic acid （JA）, abscisic acid （ABA） and gibberellic acid （ga） all negatively regulate infection thread formation and nodule development. However, salicylic acid （SA） and brassinosteroids （BRs） have different effects on the formation of these two nodule types. Some peptide hormones are also involved in nodulation. This review summarizes recent findings on the roles of these plant hormones in legume-rhizobial symbiosis, and we propose that DELLA proteins may function as a node to integrate plant hormones to regulate nodulation.

gallium(ga)-doped Zn O is regarded as a promising plasmonic material with a wide range of applications in plasmonics. In this study, zinc self-diffusion experiments are adopted to disclose the nature of the dominant compensating defect in ga-doped Zn O isotopic heterostructures. The(ga_(Zn)-V_(Zn))^- complex defect, instead of the isolated V_(Zn)^(2-), is identified as the predominant compensating acceptor center responsible for the low donor doping efficiency. The comparative diffusion experiments operated by the secondary ion mass spectrometry reveal a ~0.78 e V binding energy of this complex defect, which well matches the electrical activation energy derived from the temperature-dependent Hall effect measurements(^(0.82±0.02) e V). These findings contribute to an essential understanding of the(ga_(Zn)-V_(Zn))^- complex defect and the potential engineering routes of heavily ga-doped ZnO.

PID Controller Optimization by ga and Its Performances on the Electro-hydraulic Servo Control System

A proportional integral derivative （PID） controller is designed and attached to electro-hydraulic servo actuator system （EHSAS） to control the angular position of the rotary actuator which control the movable surface of space vehicles. The PID gain parameters are optimized by the genetic algorithm （ga）. The controller is verified on the new state-space model of servo-valves attached to the physical rotary actuator by SIMULINK program. The controller and the state-space model are verified experimentally. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the PID controller adaptive by ga to control the angular position of the rotary actuator as compared with the classical PID controller and the compensator controller.
