A superresolution imaging approach that localizes very small targets,such as red blood cells or droplets of injected photoacoustic dye,has significantly improved spatial resolution in various biological and medical imaging modalities.However,this superior spatial resolution is achieved by sacrificing temporal resolution because many raw image frames,each containing the localization target,must be superimposed to form a sufficiently sampled high-density superresolution image.Here,we demonstrate a computational strategy based on deep neural networks(DNNs)to reconstruct high-density superresolution images from far fewer raw image frames.The localization strategy can be applied for both 3D label-free localization optical-resolution photoacoustic microscopy(OR-PAM)and 2D labeled localization photoacoustic computed tomography(PACT).For the former,the required number of raw volumetric frames is reduced from tens to fewer than ten.For the latter,the required number of raw 2D frames is reduced by 12 fold.Therefore,our proposed method has simultaneously improved temporal(via the DNN)and spatial(via the localization method)resolutions in both label-free microscopy and labeled tomography.Deep-learning powered localization PA imaging can potentially provide a practical tool in preclinical and clinical studies requiring fast temporal and fine spatial resolutions.

Digital light projector systems are crucial components in applications,including computational imaging,fluorescence microscopy,and highly parallel data communications.Current technology based on digital micromirror displays are limited to absolute frame rates in the few tens of kiloframes per second and require the use of external light sources and coupling optics.Furthermore,to realize gray-scale pixel values using duty cycle control,frame rates are reduced proportionally to the number of gray levels required.Here we present a self-emissive chip-scale projector system based on micro-LED pixels directly bonded to a smart pixel CMOS drive chip.The 128×128 pixel array can project binary patterns at up to 0.5 Mfps and toggle between two stored frames at megahertz rates.The projector has a 5-bit gray-scale resolution that can be updated at up to 83 kfps,and can be held in memory as a constant bias for the binary pattern projection.Additionally,the projector can be operated in a pulsed mode,with individual pixels emitting pulses down to a few nanoseconds in duration.Again,this mode can be used in conjunction with the high-speed spatial pattern projection.As a demonstration of the data throughput achievable with this system,we present an optical camera communications application,exhibiting data rates of>5 Gb/s.

On an internet of video things(IoVT), an encoder needs to collect a large number of signal samples to improve the reconstruction quality. It is challenging to some occasions where the resources of an encoder are extremely limited. The distributed video compressive sensing(DVCS) can save a lot of resources for the encoder. For the skip-block coding at such an encoder, this paper proposes a motion-adaptive adjacent-reference skipping(MAS) algorithm for DVCS with general decoders. The proposed algorithm makes full use of the spatial-temporal correlation between consecutive frames, and the reconstruction quality can be improved significantly. What’s more, the skipping ratio of non-keyframes is adaptive to the difference of their motion-speeds. The proposed algorithm does not need to change any decoder, so it can be easily applied to general decoders. The simulation results show that under different skipping ratios, the proposed algorithm can achieve better reconstruction quality than other existing algorithms, and thus improve the energy-efficiency of the encoder.

Objective.Atherosclerosis is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity.Optical endoscopy,ultrasound,and X-ray offer minimally invasive imaging assessments but have limited sensitivity for characterizing disease and therapeutic response.Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)endoscopy is a newer idea employing tiny catheter-mounted detectors connected to the MRI scanner.It can see through vessel walls and provide soft-tissue sensitivity,but its slow imaging speed limits practical applications.Our goal is highresolution MRI endoscopy with real-time imaging speeds comparable to existing modalities.Methods.Intravascular(3 mm)transmit-receive MRI endoscopes were fabricated for highly undersampled radial-projection MRI in a clinical 3-tesla MRI scanner.Iterative nonlinear reconstruction was accelerated using graphics processor units connected via a single ethernet cable to achieve true real-time endoscopy visualization at the scanner.MRI endoscopy was performed at 6-10 frames/sec and 200-300μm resolution in human arterial specimens and porcine vessels ex vivo and in vivo and compared with fully sampled 0.3 frames/sec and three-dimensional reference scans using mutual information(MI)and structural similarity(3-SSIM)indices.Results.High-speed MRI endoscopy at 6-10 frames/sec was consistent with fully sampled MRI endoscopy and histology,with feasibility demonstrated in vivo in a large animal model.A 20-30-fold speed-up vs.0.3 frames/sec reference scans came at a cost of~7%in MI and~45%in 3-SSIM,with reduced motion sensitivity.Conclusion.High-resolution MRI endoscopy can now be performed at frame rates comparable to those of X-ray and optical endoscopy and could provide an alternative to existing modalities,with MRI’s advantages of soft-tissue sensitivity and lack of ionizing radiation.

Hepatitis E virus(HEV)infection is associated with epidemic and sporadic viral hepatitis worldwide.It is a small,quasi-enveloped,single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus(Emerson and Purcell 2003).Its genome varies from 6.6 to 7.3 kb in length,containing three open reading frames(ORFs)named ORF1,ORF2,and ORF3.They encode non-structural polyprotein,viral capsid protein,and a small phosphoprotein that is essential for viral release,respectively.

We present the entanglement measures of a tetrapartite W-class entangled system in a noninertial frame, where the transformation between Minkowski and Rindler coordinates is applied.Two cases are considered.First, when one qubit has uniform acceleration whilst the other three remain stationary.Second, when two qubits have nonuniform accelerations and the others stay inertial.The 1–1 tangle, 1–3 tangle, and whole entanglement measurements π4 and Π4, are studied and illustrated with graphics through their dependence on the acceleration parameter rd for the first case and rc and rd for the second case.It is found that the negativities(1–1 tangle and 1–3 tangle) and π-tangle decrease when the acceleration parameter rd or in the second case rc and rd increase, remaining a nonzero entanglement in the majority of the results.This means that the system will be always entangled except for special cases.It is shown that only the 1–1 tangle for the first case vanishes at infinite accelerations, but for the second case the 1–1 tangle disappears completely when r > 0.472473.An analytical expression for the von Neumann information entropy of the system is found and we note that it increases with the acceleration parameter.
