The present paper deals with the use of a new polymeric flame retardant material, polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) for plastics. Incorporation of 15—20% PPS into nylon-6 has provided UL V-0 rating for the system and there is enhancement in tensile and flexural properties. The results obtained on the thermal, crystallization and flow characteristics of the nylon-PPS system upto a loading of 40% PPS are also discussed.

This paper synthesizes a kind of phosphorus flame retardant -allyl dimethyl *** retardant functional layer comes into being on the surface of jute by integrating ultraviolet ray （UV） radiation with *** functional layer was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）,scanning electron microscopy （SEM）,thermogravimetry （TG）,differential thermal analyzer （DTA）,and X-ray diffractometer （XRD）.The results indicate that UV radiation promotes the formation of free radicals on the jute’s surface,which are liable to produce grafting reaction with phosphate *** leads to the formation of flame retardant functional layer in the form of valence bond so that the processed jute possesses lasting flame retardant *** combustion testing,the combustion performance reaches to B 2 level of GB 8624-1997 Classification on Burning Behaviour for Building *** addition,the formation mechanism and flame-retardant mechanism of functional layer on the surface of jute has laid theoretical research foundation for the material design and controlled craft of jute fiber’s *** evaluation on the feeling of jute and the elements that affect the hand feeling are analyzed.
