The fish fauna of the Hwajinpo Lake,one of the lagoons on the east coast of Korea,was investigated during six days between November,2003 and May,*** species belonging to eight families and six orders were *** the 15 species recorded,brackish water and/or marine fishes were represented by six species,while three additional species were identified as migratory fish,and six species were purely freshwater *** the six months,all of the survey period with six sampling dates,nine species belonging to six families were collected at Station 1,with Chaenogobius urotaenia presenting the highest biomass (39%).Twelve species belonging to six families were collected at Station 2,with Carassiu cuvieri showing the highest biomass (20%).Five species belonged to three families at Station 3,with Hemiculter eigenmanni showing the highest biomass (69%).The dominant and subdominant species were *** (16%),Carassius auratus and Tribolodon hakonensis (14%),***,diversity indices were 0.95 (Station 3) and 2.08 (Station 2),while the dominant indices were 38.40 (Station 2) and 87.18 (Station 3).The evenness indices were calculated with 0.59 (Station 3) and 0.84 (Station 2).

There are 3048 species of fish occurring in the China Seas （CS）, of which at least 2321 species are found in the South China Sea （SCS）, belonging to 35 orders, 236 families and 822 genera. The fish species diversity is analyzed in this paper based on biogeography, biostatistics, fishing methods, etc. It is found that the regional environment, especially biological factors, plays an important role in the distribution of faunas, and there are two fish faunas in the SCS, one in the north and another in the center and south. This regional division is of value for sustainable fishery production and eiTlcient management of fishery resources.

Composition of fish species in the Bering and Chukchi Seas and their responses to changes in the ecological environment

Based on trawl surveys in the Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea during the 2010 Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition, fish biodiversity characteristics, such as fish composition, dominant species, biodiversity, and faunal characteristics were conducted. We also discussed the responses of fishes to the quick changes in Arctic climate. The results showed that a total of 41 species in 14 families were recorded in these waters. The dominant species were Hippoglossoides robustus, Boreogadus saida, Myoxocephalus scorpius, Lumpenus fabricii, and Artediellus scaber. There were 35 coldwater species, accounting for 85.37%, and six cold temperate species, occupying 14.63%. The habitat types of fish could be grouped as follows： 35 species of demersal fishes, five benthopelagic fishes, and one pelagic fish. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index （H＇）（range between 0 and 2.18, 1.21 on average） was not high, and descended from south to north. Climate change has caused some fishes to shift along their latitudinal and longitudinal distribution around the Arctic and Subarctic areas, and this could lead to the decline of Arctic fishery resources.

A Comparative Study of fish Community in Four Main Estuaries of China Southeastern Coastal Areas and Their Adjacent Waters

Based on literature and survery data of fish composition collected by bottom trawl investigation from 2006 to 2007 infour main estuaries of China southeastern coastal areas and their adjacent waters,changes of the taxonomic diversity across spatialand temporal scales of fish community were analyzed by taxonomic diversity *** results are as follows:a total number of1397 fish species(including some freshwater species),belonging to 2 classes,42 orders,186 families and 593 genera,were collected inthe studied sea *** species richness increased with lower latitudes,particularly so with *** were 339 fish spe-cies in the Yangtze River Estuary and adjacent waters,belonging to 2 classes,31 orders,101 families and 231 *** were 535fish species in the Minjiang River Estuary and adjacent waters,belonging to 2 classes,33 orders,133 families and 323 genera.A totalnumber of 803 fish species were collected in the Jiulongjiang River Estuary and adjacent waters,which belonged to 2 classes,35 orders,155 families and 419 *** 1021 fish species which belonged to 2 classes,32 orders,153 families,and 466 genera were collectedin the Pearl River Estuary and adjacent *** numbers of orders and families of fish species from the northern to the southern wa-ters first increased and then *** average variation in taxonomic distinctness(Λ+)gradually decreased with lower latitudes inthe four estuaries and adjacent *** were no significant differences in the average taxonomic distinctness(△+)among the fourestuaries and adjacent waters,and fish fauna were closely related with each other,and all of them belonged to the same zoogeographicalfauna(Indian-Malaysia fauna).fish composition in the Minjiang River Estuary and adjacent waters was more similar to that in the Jiu-longjiang River Estuary and adjacent waters among the four *** with the historical data,the average taxonomic dis-tinctness of fish community showed a great
