In modeling the bilateral selection of states of the process,Dynkin(Dokl Akad Nauk USSR 185:241–288,1969)proposed a two-person game in which players use stopping moments as strategies.The purpose of this work is to present a model of the game in which the players have different information about the process itself,as well as various laws to stop the process and accept its state.The game model uses the stochastic process apparatus,in particular,the ability to create different filters for the same process.The sets of stopping moments based on different filters are not identical,which allows us to model different sets of strategies for players.We show that the follower,by observing the behavior of a rational leader,can recover information that is lost due to the lack of complete observation of the state of the process.In the competition of two opponents for the maximum of the i.***.d.sequence,one of whom has access to full information and the other only knows their relative ranks,we found the generalized Stackelberg equilibrium.If the priority of a player observing the relative ranks is less than 50%,then that player modifies his strategy based on the behavior of the second player.For a player with full information,information about the behavior of the player observing the relative ranks is useless.

The natural filtrations of infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebras of O-type over a field of positive characteristic are proved to be invariant under automorphisms by studying ad-nilpotent elements.We observe that two Lie superalgebras of O-type are isomorphic if and only if the integers in the definition of these Lie superalgebras are intrinsic.Thereby,all the Lie superalgebras of O-type are classified in the sense of isomorphism.

Isolating rare circulating tumor cells(CTCs)from blood is critical for the downstream analysis that is important in cancer-related research,diagnosis,and medicine,and efforts are ongoing to increase the efficiency and purity of CTC isolation in microfluidics.Reported in this paper is a two-stage integrated microfluidic chip for coarse-to-fine CTC isolation from whole blood.First,blood cells are removed by filtration using a micropore-array membrane,then CTCs and other cells that are trapped in the micropores are peeled off the membrane by a novel release method based on air–liquid interfacial tension,which significantly increases the recovery rate of CTCs.The second stage is CTC capture based on an on-chip dense immuno-magnetic-bead clump,which offers high capture efficiency and purity.Both the micropore filtration and immuno-magnetic-bead capture are validated and optimized experimentally.Overall,the integrated microfluidic chip can realize a recovery rate of 85.5%and a purity of 37.8%for rare cancer cells spiked in whole blood.

Electrospun nanofibers are regarded as a promising candidate for filtration because of their prominent size effect.The precise control of nanofiber diameter is the key to the material’s outstanding filtration capability,but it remains a challenge.Herein,an electrohydrodynamic scaling model is established for the accurate prediction of fiber diameter based on the velocity of the whipping jet.In this model,the velocity reflects jet stretching and is tuned by adding salt.The theoretical predictions agree well with the experimental results.With the proposed diameter model,the filtration property of the membrane is significantly optimized by governing the fiber diameter.When the nanofiber is slenderized to 183 nm,an ultralight (0.521 g m;) membrane exhibits high filtration efficiency (99.93%) and low pressure drop (105.2 Pa) against ultrafine aerosol particles (≤0.26μm) under an airflow face velocity of 5.33 cm s^(-1).These findings demonstrate that the established surface charge-based diameter model provides an excellent platform to timely and accurately control the nanofiber diameter via the velocity of whipping jets for highefficiency air filtration.

filtration control is important to ensure safe and high efficient drilling.The aim of the current research is to explore the feasibility of using basil seed powders(BSPs)to reduce filtration loss in water-based drilling fluid.The effect of BSP concentration,thermal aging temperature,inorganic salts(NaCl and CaCl_(2))on the filtration properties of bentonite/basil suspensions was investigated.The filtration control mechanism of BSP was probed via water absorbency test,zeta potential measurement,particle size distribution measurement,and filter cake morphologies observation by scanning electron microscope.The incorporation of BSPs into the bentonite suspension generated acceptable rheology below 1.0 w/v%.The BSPs exhibited effective filtration control after thermal aging at 120C,but less efficiency at 150C.After thermal aging at 120℃,the bentonite suspension containing 1.0 w/v%BSPs could resist NaCl and CaCl_(2) pollution of 5.0 w/v%and 0.3 w/v%respectively.Besides general filtration control behaviors,the exceptional water retaining capability formed by numerous nanoscale 3D networks in the basil seed gum and considerable insoluble small particles in BSPs might further contribute to the filtration control.The excellent filtration properties bring basil seed a suitable and green candidate for the establishment of high-performance drilling fluids.

The present article deals with filtration of seawater to remove sodium chloride(NaCl)using filter made from organized structures of carbon nanotubes(CNTs).The filter consists of hollow carbon cylinder(length~10 cm,diameter~1 cm),which is composed of radially aligned CNTs.This carbon hollow cylinder has been synthesized by continuous spray pyrolysis of ferrocene–benzene solution in argon atmosphere.The hollow cylinder has been turned into a water filter by closing one end and keeping a small funnel at the other.filtration of seawater(Marina Beach,Chennai,India)has been obtained both under the self pressure of seawater column in the hollow cylinder and under the difference of pressure created by enclosing the filter in a vacuum tight container.It has been found that the efficiency of filtration is about two times higher under partial vacuum(~10–2 torr)created on the filtrate(water)side.After filtration of seawater,a deposit in the inner surface of hollow cylinder has been found.This deposit has been characterized by X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis,and it has been found that the deposit was NaCl.The filtration leads to almost complete removal of NaCl from the seawater.

This study investigated the filtration and continuous regeneration of a particulate filter system on an engine test bench, consisting of a diesel oxidation catalyst（DOC） and a catalyzed diesel particulate filter（CDPF）. Both the DOC and the CDPF led to a high conversion of NO to NO2 for continuous regeneration. The filtration efficiency on solid particle number（SPN） was close to100%. The post-CDPF particles were mainly in accumulation mode. The downstream SPN was sensitively influenced by the variation of the soot loading. This phenomenon provides a method for determining the balance point temperature by measuring the trend of SPN concentration.

Application of a hybrid gravity-driven membrane filtration and dissolved ozone flotation(MDOF)process for wastewater reclamation and membrane fouling mitigation

This study proposed a novel membrane filtration and dissolved ozone flotation integrated(MDOF) process and tested it at pilot scale. Membrane filtration in the MDOF process was operated in gravity-driven mode, and required no backwashing, flushing, or chemical cleaning. Because ozone was added in the MDOF process, ozonation, coagulation, and membrane filtration could occur in a single reactor. Moreover, in situ ozonation occurred in the MDOF process, which differs from the conventional pre-ozonation membrane filtration process. Significant enhancement of turbidity removal was further achieved through the addition of membrane filtration. Membrane fouling was mitigated in the MDOF process compared to the MDAF process. In situ ozonation in the MDOF process decreased the fluorescence intensity and transformed the high MW dissolved organics into small MW compounds. For the fouling layer, the extracellular polymeric substance(EPS) contents and cake layer morphology were analyzed. The results indicated that the contents of EPS decreased. Furthermore, a thinner and more loosely structured cake layer formed in the MDOF process. Because coagulation and ozonation occurred simultaneously in a single reactor, the generation of hydroxyl radicals was enhanced through the catalytic effect of Al-based coagulants on ozone decomposition, which further alleviated membrane fouling in the MDOF process.

Physicochemical interaction and its influence on deep bed filtration process

The capillary model was used to analyze the hydraulic conditions in the deep bed filtration process. The physicochemical interaction forces between the filter media and suspended particles and their influence on deep bed filtration process were also studied theoretically. Through the comparison of the hydraulic and physicochemical forces, the key influencing factors on the filtration process were proposed and investigated. Pilot study of the micro-flocculation deep bed filtration was carried out in the No. 9 Potable Water Treatment Plant of Beijing, and the experimental results of hydraulic head loss, particle distribution and entrapment were presented. The theoretical prediction was reasonably consistent with the experimental results under different conditions, which indicated that the regulation and control of micro-flocculation and deep bed filtration could be realized by the evaluation of the physicochemical interactions. Further theoretical and experimental research should be carried out to investigate the interaction mechanism and its application in the deep bed filtration and other cases.
