In order to relate the design and analysis of an optical pattern recognition system with the structural parameters, only by introducing the prolate spheroidal wave function (PSWF) can the amount of information be computed. Combining the imaging wave function set {ψi(x)} and distorted wave function set {b_i(p)} and two integral equations they satisfy derives the expression of the amount of information. The design method of matched filter.connected with its amount of information is studied, and their amounts of information belonging to different pattern recognition systems are illustrated. It can be seen that the difference of the amounts of information for various systems is obvious.

This paper proposes a new multi-baseline extended particle filter.ng phase unwrapping algorithm which combines an extended particle filter.with an amended matrix pencil model and a quantized path-following strategy. The contributions to multibaseline synthetic aperture radar(SAR) interferometry are as follows: a new recursive multi-baseline phase unwrapping model based on an extended particle filter.is built, and the amended matrix pencil model is used to acquire phase gradient information with a higher precision and lower computational cost, and the quantized path-following strategy is introduced to guide the proposed phase unwrapping procedure to efficiently unwrap wrapped phase image along the paths routed by a phase derivative variance map.

The application of remote sensing monitoring techniques plays a crucial role in evaluating and governing the vast amount of ecological construction projects in China. However, extracting information of ecological engineering target through high-resolution satellite image is arduous due to the unique topography and complicated spatial pattern on the Loess Plateau of China. As a result, enhancing classification accuracy is a huge challenge to high-resolution image processing techniques. Image processing techniques have a definitive effect on image properties and the selection of different parameters may change the final classification accuracy during post-classification processing. The common method of eliminating noise and smoothing image is majority filter.ng. However, the filter.function may modify the original classified image and the final accuracy. The aim of this study is to develop an efficient and accurate post-processing technique for acquiring information of soil and water conservation engineering, on the Loess Plateau of China, using SPOT image with 2.5 rn resolution. We argue that it is vital to optimize satellite image filter.ng parameters for special areas and purposes, which focus on monitoring ecological construction projects. We want to know how image filter.ng influences final classified results and which filter.ng kernel is optimum. The study design used a series of window sizes to filter.the original classified image, and then assess the accuracy of each output map and image quality. We measured the relationship between filter.ng window size and classification accuracy, and optimized the post-processing techniques of SPOT5satellite images. We conclude that (1) smoothing with the majority filter.is sensitive to the information accuracy of soil and water conservation engineering, and (2) for SPOT5 2.5 m image, the 5×5 pixel majority filter.is most suitable kernel for extracting information of ecological construction sites in the Loess Plateau of Chi

A new technique combining the transverse resonance method with the singular integral equation technique is presented for the unified analysis of discontinuities occurring in the E-plane fin septa. Two shorting planes are placed at some distances away from the discontinuity so as to form a closed resonator. According to the resonant condition, the equivalent circuit parameters for the discontinuity are expressed in terms of the distances between the shorting planes and the reference planes. The distances, in turn, are determined with the singular integral equation technique. A set of curves of the equivalent circuit parameters for the discontinuities are given. Based on the present analysis, the bandpass filter. composed of unilateral and bilateral E-plane fin septa are designed and fabricated at Ka-band. The experimental results agree well with the theoretical predictions.

In this paper, it is argued that the mathematical morphological method seems to be morereasonable and powerful in studying vision problems than Marr ’s approach which uses deri-vatives of Gaussian-shaped filter. in different sizes. To show the validity of this method,an application is given to form scale-space image of a 2-D shape employing morphologicalopening filter.ng. Proof is given to show that the morphological opening filter.has the pro-perty of not introducing additional zero-crossings as one moves to coarser scale. This con-tradicts the conclusion by Poggio et al. that the Gaussian filter.is the only filter.with thisremarkable property. Besides, the opening filter.is computationally simpler than theGaussian filter.

Because of wide variation in gray levels and particle dimensions and the presence of many small gravel objects in the background, as well as corrupting the image by noise, it is difficult to segment gravel objects. In this paper, we develop a partial entropy method and succeed to realize gravel objects segmentation. We give entropy principles and fast calculation methods. Moreover, we use minimum entropy error automaticly to select a threshold to segment image. We introduce the filter.method using mathematical morphology. The segment experiments are performed by using different window dimensions for a group of gravel image and demonstrates that this method has high segmentation rate and low noise sensitivity.
