Manufacture of biomorphic Al2O3 ceramics using filter paper as template

Biomorphic Al2O3ceramics were prepared through the surface sol-gel process with filter papers as *** filter papers were infiltrated withγ-AlOOH sol and subsequently sintered in air at high temperatures to produce the biomorphic *** results show that the final materials have a hierarchical structure originated from the morphology of cellulose paper. The sintering temperatures exhibit a strong effect on the surface pore-size distribution of obtained *** scanning calorimeter,scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction and BET analysis were employed to characterize the microstructure,morphology and phase compositions of the final products.

Photocatalysis of TiO2 Sheets Prepared by Templating filter paper

Titanium dioxide sheet photocatalysts composed of interwoven microstrips were successfully synthesized using filter paper as templates. The synthesized samples were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, surface area analyzer, thermogravimetric analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy. The photocatalytic activities of the samples were evaluated by the degradation of methyl orange in an aqueous solution under UV-illumination. The results demonstrated that the paper-like TiO2 sheets with the optimum proportion of anatase/rutile （10/1） had the highest photoactivity. And the presence of the filter paper fiber can improve the crystallinity, raise the anatase-rutile transformation temperature and contribute to the formation of being paper-like. A detailed formation mechanism for TiO2 sheets is proposed.

Cancer stem cells（CSCs） play critical roles in tumor invasion, metastasis and recurrence. In the present study, a low-cost and efficient method for CSC enrichment by culturing prostate cancer cells on hydrophilic filter paper was established. Tumor spheroids formed spontaneously on pristine filter paper solely with regular cell culture medium. paper-grown cells had elevated expression of CSC markers, indicating increased stemness of the cancer cells. Reduced cytotoxic effects of Doxorubicin were observed on the formed CSC spheroids compared. The properties of the filter paper were characterized to investigate the underlying mechanism behind the promoted tumor spheroid formation. The excellent hydrophilicity of the cellulose fibers retarded the hydrophobic interaction-mediated cell anchoring on fibers, while the limited space/niche between fibers promoted the aggregation of cells. Hydrophilic filter papers could be a low-cost for construction of assay platforms for isolating and enriching CSCs, screening anti-tumor drugs, and constructing tumor models in vitro.

CdTe-paper-based Visual Sensor for Detecting Methyl Viologen

This study developed a method on detecting methyl viologen(paraquat)using a CdTe-paper-based visual *** CdTe Qdots were immobilized on the paper using *** volume percentages of CdTe in glycerin were optimized to be 50%.The sensing principle is that the methyl viologen quenches the fluorescence intensity of CdTe Qdots in a concentration dependent *** sensor is linearly response to the logarithm concentration of the methyl viologen in the range from 0.39μmol/L to 3.89 mmol/L with a detection limit of 0.16μmol/L and the corre-lation coefficient R^(2) of *** parallel experiments at the methyl viologen concentration of 38.89μmol/L give a relative error of 2.45%,which indicates a good *** sensor is not disturbed by other pestisides in-cluding omethoate,anilofos,machete and glyphosate isopropylamine *** advantages of this sensor are dis-posable,stable,convenient,and easy to operate.

Experimental and numerical analysis of an air cleaner's acoustic performance
