A base level is an erosion-deposition equilibrium surface, the rising and falling of which is responsible for sedimentation. A base level could not always come into being in geological history. How to describe the rising and falling of a paleobase level and how to reflect its controlling on sedimentation are dealt with in this paper based on study of the sandstone developed in the Yanshan Sedimentary Basin of the Changcheng Period (the Yanshan Basin for short).

Based on system identification theory and FWD testing data, the effect of thickness error on backcalculating pavement layer moduli is studied and the method of singular value decomposition (SVD) is presented to solve the morbidity problem of sensitivity matrix in this paper.The results show that the thickness error has great effects on the backcalculated pavement layer moduli. The error of backcalculated moduli can be controlled within the range of ±15% by limiting the thickness error within the range of ±5%.

The dynamical process in H_α flare loops on solar disc is quantitatively discussed byusing the observed data of the two--ribbon flare on May 16,1981, taken with the H_α spectra-spectroheliograph (H_α--SSHG) and H_α chromospheric telescope at Yunnan Observatory, Kun-ming, PRC, as well as the X-ray data of the same flare from satellite "HINOTORI". It isfirstly found that matter at the top of the H_α flare loops kas initial velocity of severalhundred km/s and the falling velocity of matter within the loops decelerates. We believethat these dynamical problems are related to the physical mechanism of flare loops.

The paper discusses the falling back of economic growth from four aspects. From the aspect of production, the traditional industry has the greatest impact on the falling back of economic growth. From the perspective of demand, the consumption demand, investment demand, and export demand have jointly caused the falling back of the economic growth, in which the pulling function of investment demand is more obvious. From the standpoint of cardinality, the growth rate of the economy is restrained by the increase of economic scale. From the perspective of production factors, changes in the supply of labor force affect the falling back of economic growth rate.

This report makes a systematic study of flooding in vertical tubes, and gives a clear definition of two types of flooding; investigates and analyzes the influence factors on flooding, especially the influence of tube ends. It puts forward the flooding correlations in sharp-edged tubes as well as in tapered end tubes, and points out the ways to raise the flooding velocities. All the above theories and correlations are tested and verified by the experimental results.

This paper mainly discusses the variation of cosmic ray intensitycaused by solar flares in Mar. and Aug. 1989. Qualitative comparisonand analysis have been made for the events in Mar. and Aug. especiallyfrom the difference of the variation of cosmic ray intensity in BeijingTokoy, and Guangzhou, and the anisotropic character of cosmic rayintensity from East to West direction recorded by the scintillator telescope in Guangzhou. It is found that though the events of decreaseof cosmic ray in Mar. and Aug. both coused by solar flares, there aredifference between two events, either in the shape of the decrease of cosmic ray or in the energy distribution of the falling particles.1989 is one of the years of the nationwide joint observation for the 22’ Max. The scintillator multi-directional telescope in Guang-zhou Observatory took part in the work.
