Evidence-Based Dampness-Heat ZHENG(Syndrome) in Cancer: Current Progress toward Establishing Relevant Animal Model with Pancreatic Tumor

Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases affecting the health of human beings. With limited therapeutic options available, complementary and alternative medicine has been widely adopted in cancer management and is increasingly becoming accepted by both patients and healthcare workers alike. Chinese medicine characterized by its unique diagnostic and treatment system is the most widely applied complementary and alternative medicine. It emphasizes symptoms and ZHENG(syndrome)-based treatment combined with contemporary disease diagnosis and further stratifies patients into individualized medicine subgroups. As a representative cancer with the highest degree of malignancy, pancreatic cancer is traditionally classified into the "amassment and accumulation". Emerging perspectives define the core pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer as "dampness-heat" and the respective treatment "clearing heat and resolving dampness" has been demonstrated to prolong survival in pancreatic cancer patients, as has been observed in many other cancers. This clinical advantage encourages an exploration of the essence of dampness-heat ZHENG(DHZ) in cancer and investigation into underlying mechanisms of action of herbal formulations against dampness-heat. However, at present, there is a lack of understanding of the molecular characteristics of DHZ in cancer and no standardized and widely accepted animal model to study this core syndrome in vivo. The shortage of animal models limits the ability to uncover the antitumor mechanisms of herbal medicines and to assess the safety profile of the natural products derived from them. This review summarizes the current research on DHZ in cancer in terms of the clinical aspects, molecular landscape, and animal models. This study aims to provide comprehensive insight that can be used for the establishment of a future standardized ZHENG-based cancer animal model.

Low temperature cracking behavior of asphalt binders and mixtures: A review

Low temperature cracking(LTC)distress on pavement seriously affects road life.This paper finished a literature review of the research on the mechanism of LTC of asphalt composites(asphalt composites refers to asphalt binder and asphalt mixture in this article),test methods,factors contributing to LTC,measures to prevent and control the distress,and prediction of LTC in asphalt pavements.The following conclusions were obtained:the cracking mechanism of asphalt mixtures needs to be further revealed by means of simulation at the micro level,the BBR and 4 mm plate test(by DSR)methods are currently optimal,and a correlation between asphalt and asphalt mixture evaluation indexes needs to be established.Sensitivity analyses are needed for the factors affecting LTC of asphalt mixtures.It is necessary to calculate the contribution of each factor to the LTC of asphalt mixtures.The aim is to propose targeted improvement measures for the most unfavourable factors,as well as to carry out research and development of key materials for anti-cracking.Measures for the prevention and control of LTC of asphalt pavement are analyzed and discussed.Existing researches on the prediction of LTC of asphalt pavements is discussed.It is necessary to analyse the mechanical response of asphalt pavement,the damage process and the sensitivity of anti-cracking parameters on the basis of considering the complex geometrical characteristics and material properties of asphalt pavement materials.Finally,the mechanism of LTC,evaluation methods,factors influencing LTC,and remedial measures for asphalt composites were summarized,and future research prospects were suggested.This paper provides theoretical support for the further solution of LTC distress of asphalt pavement,which is effective on the improvement of pavement life.

Total dose ionizing irradiation effects on a static random access memory field programmable gate array

SRAM-based FPGA devices are irradiated by ^（60）Coγrays at various aose rates 10 investigate total dose effects and the evaluation method.The dependences of typical electrical parameters such as static power current, peak-peak value,and delay time on total dose are discussed.The experiment results show that the static power current of the devices reduces rapidly at room temperature（25℃） and high temperature（80℃） annealing after irradiation.When the device is irradiated at a low dose rate,the delay time and peak-peak value change unobviously with an increase in the accumulated dose.In contrast,the function parameters completely fail at 2.1 kGy（Si） when the dose rate increases to 0.71 Gy（Si）/s.

Secure Coding is an indispensable part of the undergraduate training program for Information Security Major.As a basic course for undergraduates to carry out project engineering,its importance is self-evident.In the actual teaching activities,the program design courses have to be solved in terms of content update,practical ability improvement and scientific research project,so the curriculum reform is imperative.This paper analyses the main problems existing in the Secure Coding course,explores the solution,proposes teaching methods,and gives the evaluation method.The practice shows that the reform exploration can obtain good teaching results.

Versus—A tool for evaluating visualizations and image quality using a 2AFC methodology

Novel visualization methods and strategies are necessary to cope with the deluge of datasets present in any scientific field to make discoveries and find answers to previously unanswered questions.These methods and strategies should not only present scientific findings as images in a concise way but also need to be effective and expressive,which often remain untested.Here,we present Versus,a tool to enable easy image quality assessment and image ranking,utilizing a two-alternative forced choice methodology(2AFC)and an efficient ranking algorithm based on a binary search.The tool provides a systematic way of setting up evaluation experiments via the web without the necessity to install any additional software or require any programming skills.Furthermore,Versus can easily interface with crowdsourcing platforms,such as Amazon’s Mechanical Turk,or can be used as a stand-alone system to carry out evaluations with experts.We demonstrate the use of Versus by means of an image evaluation study,aiming to determine if hue,saturation,brightness,and texture are good indicators of uncertainty in three-dimensional protein structures.Drawing from the power of crowdsourcing,we argue that there is demand and also great potential for this tool to become a standard for simple and fast image evaluations,with the aim to test the effectiveness and expressiveness of scientific visualizations.

Performance measures in evaluating machine learning based bioinformatics predictors for classifications

Many existing bioinformatics predictors are based on machine learning technology. When applying these predictors in practical studies, their predictive performances should be well understood. Different performance measures are applied in various studies as well as different evaluation methods. Even for the same performance measure, different terms, nomenclatures or notations may appear in different context. Results： We carried out a review on the most commonly used performance measures and the evaluation methods for bioinformatics predictors. Conclusions： It is important in bioinformatics to correctly understand and interpret the performance, as it is the key to rigorously compare performances of different predictors and to choose the right predictor.

在质性研究中，资料饱和通常被用以评估研究资料的充足性。但在研究实践中，资料饱和却存在概念模糊及操作性问题。作为某项质性研究所抽取的样本量已满足研究需要的标志，按照在研究过程中判定时点的先后顺序，资料饱和可划分为数据饱和、编码或主题饱和、意义饱和及理论饱和4种主要形式。4种形式的资料饱和各有其特定的内涵、评估方式和判定标准。研究认为，达到资料饱和的样本量标准不应统一设定，其检验需嵌入具体的研究过程；资料饱和存在逻辑上的不确定性，适度追加抽样有助于进一步确认；资料饱和作为考察研究质量的一项重要指标，并不适用于所有质性研究。

我国的人文社会科学评价已成为学术发展的瓶颈，不科学、不合理的评价已催生了大量的学术不端现象甚至学术腐败，严重阻碍了学术的繁荣和发展。对目前人文社会科学评价的主要方法进行梳理和比较，认为引文分析评价具有事实上的客观性、数量上的可累积性、学科上的公平性、实践上的易操作性。这使得引文分析既可以用来评价单项成果，更适合从整体上建立学科评价体系。
