The objective of this work is to dry the mushrooms to evaluate the impact of drying on them. The drying of mushrooms in the oven, in the solar dryer and in the microwave indicated that for Termitomyces sp. the total polyphenol contents were 15.20 mgEAG/gMs for the microwave drying (280 W), 13.61 mgEAG/gMs for the oven drying (60°C), and 9.81 mgEAG/gMs for the solar dryer drying (40°C). For Pleurotus sp., the contents obtained were 13.79 mgEAG/gMs for microwave drying (280 W), 8.36 mgEAG/gMs for oven drying (60°C) and 8.98 mgEAG/gMs for solar drying (40°C). Regarding flavonoids, for Termitomyces sp., this revealed 0.5797 mgECa/gMs for microwave drying (280 W), 0.729 mgECa/gMs for oven drying (60°C) and 0.5671 mgECa/gMs for solar drying (40°C). The flavonoid contents for Pleurotus sp. gave 0.842 mgECa/gMs for microwave drying (280 W), 1.06 mgECa/gMs for oven drying (60°C) and, 0.425 mgECa/gMs for solar drying (40°C). For Termitomyces sp., the levels of free radical scavenging activity varied from 13.02 mg/mL for microwave drying, 25.08 mg/mL for oven drying, and 22.25 mg/mL for solar drying;while for Pleurotus sp., 15.96 mg/mL for microwave drying, 39.90 mg/mL for oven drying, and 31.60 mg/mL for solar drying.

evaluation of absolute phase for 3D profile measurement using fringe projection

A new method of absolute phase evaluation for three-dimensional （3D） profilc measurement using fringe projection is presented, which combines the gray code and the phase shift technique. Two kinds of fringe patterns are projected onto the object surface respectively, one is sinusoidal intensity distribution used for phase demodulation and the other is gray code fringe pattern for unwrapping. These images are acquired by camera and stored into computer. The absolute phase is obtained by analyzing these images. The validity of this method is verified experimentally. The method is superior to other phase unwrapping methods.

Establishment and evaluation of a theater influenza monitoring platform

Background:Influenza is an acute respiratory infectious disease with a high incidence rate in the Chinese army,which directly disturbs military training and affects soldiers’health.Influenza surveillance systems are widely used around the world and play an important role in influenza epidemic prevention and control.Methods:As a theater centers for disease prevention and control,we established an influenza monitoring platform(IMP)in 2014 to strengthen the monitoring of influenza-like illness and influenza virus infection.In this study,we introduced the constitution,influenza virus detection,and quality control for an IMP.The monitoring effect was also evaluated by comparing the monitoring data with data from national influenza surveillance systems.The experiences and problems associated with the platform also were summarized.Results:A theater IMP was established based on 3 levels of medical units,including monitoring sites,testing laboratories and a checking laboratory.A series of measures were taken to guarantee the quality of monitoring,such as technical training,a unified process,sufficient supervision and timely communication.The platform has run smoothly for 3 monitoring years to date.In the 2014–2015 and 2016–2017 monitoring years,sample amount coincided with that obtained from the National Influenza Surveillance program.In the 2015–2016 monitoring year,due to the strict prevention and control measures,an influenza epidemic peak was avoided in monitoring units,and the monitoring data did not coincide with that of the National Influenza Surveillance program.Several problems,including insufficient attention,unreasonable administrative intervention or subordination relationships,and the necessity of detection in monitoring sites were still observed.Conclusion:A theater IMP was established rationally and played a deserved role in the prevention and control of influenza.However,several problems remain to be solved.

Reliability, Accuracy, and Use Frequency of evaluation Methods for Amount of Tongue Coating

Objective: To classify the evaluation methods for amount of tongue coating(TC) and investigate their reliability, accuracy, and frequency of use. Methods: Articles published from 1985 to 2015 were searched for evaluation methods for the amount of TC in PubMed and the Cochrane Library. Only clinical researches were included except protocol articles. The methods were classi?ed according to their characteristics. Results: Finally,113 articles were selected. The evaluation method for the amount of TC from the articles was classi?ed into 4 types: intuitive, specificative, computerized, and weighing TC. The reliability in the intuitive and specificative methods(κ=0.33–0.92) showed varying levels among the studies. In general, the amount of TC calculated by the speci?cative method(Spearman's r=0.68–0.80) was more strongly related to the directly measured value than to the value estimated by the computerized method(Pearson's r=0.442). The number of articles published on this topic has increased consistently, and the speci?cative method was the most frequently used. Despite the higher reliability of the computerized method, it has not been widely used. Conclusions: The high prevalence of the speci?cative method would continue in clinical practice because of its convenience and accuracy. However,to establish higher reliability, the limitation of the subjectivity of the assessors should be overcome through calibration training. In the computerized method, novel algorithms are needed to obtain a higher accuracy so that it can help the practitioners con?dently estimate the amount of TC.

Field evaluation of some bait additives against Indian crested porcupine(Hystrix indica)(Rodentia:Hystricidae)

This research study evaluated the effect of different additives on the bait consumption by Indian crested porcupine,a serious forest and agricultural pest,under field conditions.Different additives(saccharin,common salt,bone meal,fish meal,peanut butter,egg yolk,egg shell powder,yeast powder,mineral oil and coconut oil)at 2 and 5%each were tested for their relative preference,using groundnut-maize(1:1)as basic bait.All the additives were tested under a no-choice test pattern.For control tests,no additive was mixed with the basic bait.Saccharin at 5%concentration significantly enhanced the consumption of bait over the basic bait,while 2%saccharin supplemented bait resulted in a non-significant bait consumption.All other additives did not enhance the consumption of the bait material;rather,these worked as repellents.However,the repellency was lowest with the common salt,followed by egg yolk,egg shell powder,bone meal,peanut butter,mineral oil,fish meal and yeast powder,while coconut remained the most repellent compound.The present study suggested that groundnut-maize(1:1)supplemented with 5%saccharin was the preferred bait combination,and can be used with different rodenticides for the management of Indian crested porcupine.

Spatial analysis and evaluation of a coal deposit by coupling AHP & GIS techniques

Nowadays,the evaluation of coal deposits becomes crucial,due to many uncontrollable factors,which affect the energy sector.A comparative evaluation of coal deposits is essential for their hierarchical classification regarding their sustainable exploitation,when compared to other coal deposits or competitive fuels,which may be used as alternative solutions for electricity generation.In this paper,a method for spatial analysis and evaluation of a lignite deposit is proposed,by creating four spatial key indicators via GIS analysis,which are then aggregated by applying a weighted linear combination.The analytical hierarchy process is applied to estimate the relative weights of the indicators,in order to perform a weighted cartographic overlay.Through the synthesis of the indicators,an overall,total spatial quality indicator is calculated.The weighted analysis was shown to be more effective compared to the unweighted one,because it can provide more reliable results regarding the exploitation of the examined lignite deposit.The implementation of GIS-based analytical hierarchy process in spatial analysis and evaluation of lignite deposits,in terms of sustainable exploitation,demonstrates that this method can be extensively applied for evaluating the economic potential of mineral deposits.

Standardized evaluation of Camera-based Driver State Monitoring Systems

Driver state sensing technologies, such as vehicular systems, start to be widely considered by automotive manufacturers. To reduce the cost and minimize the intrusiveness towards driving, the majority of these systems rely on the in-cabin camera(s) and other optical sensors. With their great capabilities in detecting and intervening of driver distraction and inattention,these technologies may become key components in future vehicle safety and control systems. However, to the best of our knowledge,currently, there is no common standard available to objectively compare the performance of these technologies. Thus, it is imperative to develop one standardized process for evaluation purposes.In this paper, we propose one systematic and standardized evaluation process after successfully addressing three difficulties:1) defining and selecting the important influential individual and environmental factors, 2) countering the effects of individual differences and randomness in driver behaviors, and 3) building a reliable in-vehicle driver head motion tracking tool to collect ground-truth motion data. We have collected data on a large scale on a commercial driver state-sensing platform. For each subject, 30 to 40 minutes of head motion data was collected and included variables, such as lighting conditions, head/face features,and camera locations. The collected data was analyzed based on a proposed performance measure. The results show that the developed process can efficiently evaluate an individual camerabased driver state sensing product, which builds a common base for comparing the performance of different systems.

Screening and evaluation of commonly-used anti-influenza Chinese herbal medicines based on anti-neuraminidase activity

Anti-influenza Chinese herbal medicines(anti-flu CHMs) have advantages in preventing and treating influenza virus infection. Despite various data on antiviral activities of some anti-flu CHMs have been reported, most of them could not be compared using the standard evaluation methods for antiviral activity. This situation poses an obstacle to a wide application of anti-flu CHMs. Thus, it was necessary to develop an evaluation method to estimate antiviral activities of anti-flu CHMs. In the present study, we searched for anti-flu CHMs, based on clinic usage, to select study objects from commonly-used patented anti-flu Chinese medicines. Then, a neuraminidase-based bioassay, optimized and verified by HPLC method by our research group, was adopted to detect antiviral activities of selected 26 anti-flu CHMs. Finally, eight of these herbs, including Coptidis Rhizoma, Isatidis Folium, Lonicerae Flos, Scutellaria Radix, Cyrtomium Rhizome, Houttuynia Cordata, Gardeniae Fructus, and Chrysanthemi Indici Flos, were shown to have strong antiviral activities with half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC_(50)) values being 2.02 to 6.78 mg·m L^(–1)(expressed as raw materials). In contrast, the IC_(50) value of positive control peramivir was 0.38 mg·m L^(–1). Considering the extract yields of CHMs, the active component in these herbs may have a stronger antiviral activity than peramivir, suggesting that these herbs could be further researched for active compounds. Moreover, the proposed neuraminidase-based bioassay was high-throughput and simple and could be used for evaluation and screening of anti-flu CHMs as well as for their quality control.

Development and evaluation of a 7-DOF Haptic Interface

With the development of human robot interaction technologies, haptic interfaces are widely used for 3 D applications to provide the sense of touch. These interfaces have been utilized in medical simulation, virtual assembly and remote manipulation tasks. However, haptic interface design and control are still critical problems to reproduce the highly sensitive touch sense of humans. This paper presents the development and evaluation of a7-DOF(degree of freedom) haptic interface based on the modified delta mechanism. Firstly, both kinematics and dynamics of the modified mechanism are analyzed and presented. A novel gravity compensation algorithm based on the physical model is proposed and validated in simulation. A haptic controller is proposed based on the forward kinematics and the gravity compensation algorithm. To evaluate the control performance of the haptic interface, a prototype has been implemented. Three kinds of experiments: gravity compensation, static response and force tracking are performed respectively. The experimental results show that the mean error of the gravity compensation is less than 0.7 N and the maximum continuous force along the axis can be up to 6 N. This demonstrates the good performance of the proposed haptic interface.

Comparison of Two Dose-response Relationship of Noise Exposure evaluation Results with High Frequency Hearing Loss

Background:Complex noise and its relation to hearing loss are difficult to measure and evaluate.In complex noise measurement,individual exposure results may not accurately represent lifetime noise exposure.Thus,the mean LAeq,8 h values of individuals in the same workgroup were also used to represent LAeq,8h in our study.Our study aimed to explore whether the mean exposure levels of workers in the same workgroup represented real noise exposure better than individual exposure levels did.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted to establish a model for cumulative noise exposure (CNE) and hearing loss in 205 occupational noise-exposed workers who were recruited from two large automobile manufacturers in China.We used a personal noise dosimeter and a questionnaire to determine the workers' occupational noise exposure levels and exposure times,respectively.A qualified audiologist used standardized audiometric procedures to assess hearing acuity after at least 16 h of noise avoidance.Results:We observed that 88.3％ of workers were exposed to more than 85 dB(A) of occupational noise (mean:89.3 ± 4.2 dB(A)).The personal CNE (CNEp) and workgroup CNE (CNEg) were 100.5 ± 4.7 dB(A) and 100.5 ± 2.9 dB(A),respectively.In the binary logistic regression analysis,we established a regression model with high-frequency hearing loss as the dependent variable and CNE as the independent variable.The Wald value was 5.014 with CNEp as the independent variable and 8.653 with CNEg as the independent variable.Furthermore,we found that the figure for CNEg was more similar to the stationary noise reference than CNEp was.The CNEg model was better than the CNEp model.In this circumstance,we can measure some subjects instead of the whole workgroup and save manpower.Conclusions:In a complex noise environment,the measurements of average noise exposure level of the workgroup can improve the accuracy and save manpower.
