Analysis of structural distortion in eshelby twisted InP nanowires by scanning precession electron diffraction

Tran smissio n electro n microscopes (TEM) are widely used in nan otech no logy research. However, it is still challe nging to characterize nano scale objects;their small size coupled with dynamical diffraction makes interpret!ng real- or reciprocal-space data difficult. Scanning precession electron diffraction ((S)PED) represents an invaluable contribution, reducing the dynamical contributions to the diffraction pattern at high spatial resolution. Here a detailed analysis of wurtzite InP nanowires (30-40 nm in diameter) containing a screw dislocation and an associated wire lattice torsion is presented. It has been possible to characterize the dislocation with great detail (Burgers and line vector, handedness). Through careful measurement of the strain field and comparison with dynamical electron diffraction simulations, this was found to be compatible with a Burgers vector modulus equal to one hexagonal lattice cell parameter despite the observed crystal rotation rate being larger (ca. 20%) than that predicted by classical elastic theory for the nominal wire diameter. These findings corroborate the importance of the (S)PED technique for characterizing nano scale materials.

An irreducible polynomial functional basis of two-dimensional eshelby tensors

The two-dimensional (2D) eshelby tensors are discussed. Based upon the complex variable method, an integrity basis of ten isotropic invariants of the 2D eshelby tensors is obtained. Since an integrity basis is always a polynomial functional basis, these ten isotropic invariants are further proven to form an irreducible polynomial functional basis of the 2D eshelby tensors.

利用eshelby等效夹杂理论研究了沥青混合料的单轴压缩蠕变行为。通过时间域内的Laplace变换将问题线性化,得到了沥青混合料的蠕变本构关系。开展了不同温度、应力水平条件下沥青砂的单轴压缩蠕变实验,根据数据拟合了沥青砂四参量流变模型的模型参数。在此基础上,预测了沥青混合料在不同温度、应力水平下的蠕变曲线,分析了温度、应力水平对沥青混合料蠕变行为的影响。结果表明:在相同的应力水平下,沥青混合料的应变和应变率都随温度的升高而增大,并且在沥青软化点附近发生明显突变;在相同的温度下,沥青混合料的应变和应变率都随加载应力的增加而增大。

Efficient Solution of 3D Solids with Large Numbers of Fluid- Filled Pores Using Eigenstrain BIEs with Iteration Procedure

To deal with the problems encountered in the large scale numerical simulation of three dimensional(3D)elastic solids with fluid-filled pores,a novel computational model with the corresponding iterative solution procedure is developed,by introducing eshelby’s idea of eigenstrain and equivalent inclusion into the boundary integral equations(BIE).Moreover,by partitioning all the fluid-filled pores in the computing domain into the near-and the far-field groups according to the distances to the current pore and constructing the local eshelby matrix over the near-field group,the convergence of iterative procedure is guaranteed so that the problem can be solved effectively and efficiently in the numerical simulation of solids with large numbers of fluid-filled pores.The feasibility and correctness of the proposed computational model are verified in the numerical examples in comparison with the results of the analytical solution in the case of a single spherical fluid-filled pore under uniform pressure in full space and with the results of the subdomain BIE in a number of other cases.The overall mechanical properties of solids are simulated using a representative volume element(RVE)with a single or multiple fluid-filled pores,up to one thousand in number,with the proposed computational model,showing the feasibility and high efficiency of the model.The effect of random distribution of fluid-filled on overall properties is also discussed.Through some examples,it is observed that the effective elastic properties of solids with a large number of fluid-filled pores in random distributions could be studied to some extent by those of solids with regular distributions.

本文应用eshelby等效夹杂法研究了含多圆孔的无限大平面受均匀荷载时的弹性场分布.首先采用了二维圆形夹杂的eshelby内部张量和外部张量对无限平面内含多圆形夹杂时的弹性场分布进行推导;然后将圆形夹杂进一步简化成圆孔;最后采用FORTRAN编制相关计算程序,对典型算例进行计算分析,并与有限元计算结果进行了对比.计算结果表明本文方法结果准确、计算效率高,并具有特殊的优越性.
