One of the most obvious markers of an individual’s identity is their language.However,in some ways,the relationship between identity and language acquisition seems to be missed.In fact,a lot of studies have shown that identity may influence the reasons behind language acquisition,especially in bilingual or multilingual societies.learning english can provide EFL(english as a Foreign Language)students with a good sense of identity and encourage them to practice their agency,which can improve learning efficiency and effectiveness.This paper examines how the efficacy and results of language learning are influenced by the learner’s identity.

Need analysis is not only the important basis for the planning and innovation of teaching,but the starting point to carry out basic teaching activities.This study is based on the needs analysis theory and an investigation was given to the non-english major in grade one in HVTC of China West Normal University(CWNU).The questionnaire is based on Hutchinson and Waters’ needs analysis model and references Shu Dingfang’s questionnaire on english learning needs analysis.The data was analyzed by SPSS19.0.It aims at finding out and analyzing the students’ needs for english teachers, learning environment,textbooks,ect On the basis of data analysis, some suggestions about HVTC english teaching are put forward,followed with the problems needing further study.

Over the decades, english learning motivation has drawn much attention. The present case study aims to explore college students' motivation of english learning. Based on SDT, the present study was conducted qualitatively. The researcher interviewed three non-english major students. This study found five types of motivation of english learning. Besides, a person may have multiple motivations at the same time.

This paper reports how english learning can be promoted in a self-access centre where students are not required to attend classes. The paper starts with an examination of learner autonomy, especially learner autonomy at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, which was done by an analysis of a student survey when the Centre was first established. Such survey results guided the installation of equipment and the provision of resources. In later years, the usage rate of self-access learning materials and the attendance rate of teacher guided workshops are compared to see how autonomous students are. A typical visit to the Independent learning Centre is described. Record keeping procedure is given. Then the paper goes on to provide data on monthly usage of in-house visits versus access by the web, loan rate of books, audio tapes, video tapes, computer software, laser discs, VCDs, DVDs versus attendance rate of workshops on oral/aural fluency, oral accuracy and IELTS familiarization workshops. Student evaluation through an online questionnaire is also examined to find out their perceived usefulness of different materials or activities. Based on the data analyzed, recommendations are made to improve the effectiveness of the centre to help students enhance their english proficiency.

This paper attempts to investigate the feasibility and learning effects of english fragmented learning via mobile devices.Questionnaires and interviews were employed to do the survey on 157 undergraduates from 24 universities in China.The research findings reveal that english fragmented learning via mobile devices has some positive effects on the improvement of learners’knowledge and learning ability.In addition,there have been a certain number of useful learning resources and platforms with diversified features.The study has the implications that fragmented mobile learning is feasible and can be popularized in english learning.
