A highly-active,metal-free,carbon-based oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)cathode,i.e.,graphitized Ndoped carbon felt(GNCF),was prepared,for the first time,by in-situ modifying the doping species of polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon felt(CF)via a facile annealing process in Ar atmosphere.It was applied for dramatically enhanced organics degradation and Electricity generation in a photocatalytic fuel cell(PFC)system.The GNCF showed enhanced specific surface area,improved graphitization and raised ratio of graphitic N,therefore resulting in excellently improved ORR performance compared to the CF.When applying the GNCF as a cathode in a PFC system,the proposed PFC showed significant improvement in degrading various model organic contaminants and outputing Electricity simultaneously when compared with the PFC with CF.For instance,the apparent rate constant and Electricity output efficiency showed~10.6 times and~7.2 times,respectively,improvement when using rhodamine B as model waste.Further improved performance was also achieved by aeration of air or O^(2) due to the fu rther enhanced ORR.The proposed PFC was also efficient in a wide pH,and kept outsta nding stability in long-term utilization.

Atmospheric Electricity research has been conducted actively in China,having profited from the development and application of high temporal and spatial resolution lightning detection and location technologies.This paper reviews the scientific advances made in the field of atmospheric Electricity in China from 2011 to 2018,covering the following five aspects:(1)lightning detection and location techniques;(2)discharge processes and parameters associated with rocket-triggered lightning;(3)physical processes in natural lightning and attachment to the ground;(4)lightning activities and charge structure in different thunderstorms;and(5)effects of thunderstorms on the upper atmosphere.In addition,some outstanding questions for future research are outlined.

Extensive work have been done to harvest untapped water energy in formats of raindrops,flows,waves,and others.However,attaining stable and efficient Electricity generation from these low-frequency water kinetic energies at both individual device and large-scale system level remains challenging,partially owing to the difficulty in designing a unit that possesses stable liquid and charge transfer properties,and also can be seamlessly integrated to achieve preferential collective performances without the introduction of tortuous wiring and redundant node connection with external circuit.Here,we report the design of water Electricity generators featuring the combination of lubricant layer and transistor-like electrode architecture that endows enhanced electrical performances in different working environments.Such a design is scalable in manufacturing and suitable for facile integration,characterized by significant reduction in the numbers of wiring and nodes and elimination of complex interfacing problems,and represents a significant step toward large-scale,real-life applications.

Optimization modeling method for coal-to-Electricity heating load considering differential decisions

Heating by Electricity rather than coal is considered one effective way to reduce environmental problems. Thus, the electric heating load is growing rapidly, which may cause undesired problems in distribution grids because of the randomness and dispersed integration of the load. However, the electric heating load may also function as an energy storage system with optimal operational control. Therefore, the optimal modeling of electric heating load characteristics, considering its randomness, is important for grid planning and construction. In this study, the heating loads of distributed residential users in a certain area are modeled based on the Fanger thermal comfort equation and the predicted mean vote thermal comfort index calculation method. Different temperatures are considered while modeling the users' heating loads. The heat load demand curve is estimated according to the time-varying equation of interior temperature. A multi-objective optimization model for the electric heating load with heat energy storage is then studied considering the demand response(DR), which optimizes economy and the comfort index. A fuzzy decision method is proposed, considering the factors influencing DR behavior. Finally, the validity of the proposed model is verified by simulations. The results show that the proposed model performs better than the traditional method.

The effective supply of Electricity is the basis of ensuring economic development and people's normal life. It is difficult to store Electricity, as leading to the production and consumption must be completed simultaneously. Therefore, it is of great significance to accurately predict the demand for Electricity consumption for the production planning of Electricity and the normal operation of the society. In this paper, a hybrid model is constructed to predict the Electricity consumption in China. The structural breaks test of monthly Electricity consumption in China from January 2010 to December 2016 is carried out by using the structural breaks unit root test. Based on the existence of structura breaks, the Electricity consumption data are decomposed into low-frequency and high-frequency components by wavelet model, and the separated low frequency signal and high frequency signal are predicted by autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA) and nonlinear autoregressive neural network(NAR), respectively. Therefore the wavelet-ARIMA-NAR hybrid model is constructed. In order to compare the effect of the hybrid model, the structural time series(STS) model is applied to predicting the Electricity consumption. The results of prediction error test show that the hybrid model is more accurate for Electricity consumption prediction.

The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC)comprises of the world’s largest producers and consumers of energy,accounting for 60.3%of primary energy supply,50.0%of final energy consumption,and 63.0%of Electricity generation worldwide in 2016.This study discusses the primary energy supply and final energy consumption situation of the APEC and analyzes the characteristics of Electricity in terms of its generation structure based on fuel,consumption by the end-use sector,access to Electricity,and so on.The renewable energy and Electricity generation projections up to 2030 based on trends in the APEC are also assessed.It is seen that Electricity in final energy consumption has been on an upward trend,with an average annual growth rate of about 4.8%during 2006–2016,in 2016,its share reached 24.3%.The industry sector consumes the largest share of Electricity,accounting for about 45.5%in 2016.Coal supply and consumption peaked in 2011 and then began to decline,while renewable energy has been on an upward trend,with its primary energy supply share increasing from 4.80%in 2010 to 6.29%in 2016.Solar photovoltaic and onshore wind power are on the verge of costing less than the operating cost of existing coal-fired plants in 2018.In the APEC’s target scenario in which renewable energy is doubled,the predicted net growth from 2017 to 2030 of solar,wind,and hydro power is about 963,497,and 157 GW,respectively,and to reach this target,the APEC economies need to accelerate renewable energy development.

Electricity Price Influence Factors Analysis Using Stochastic Matrix for Real-Time Electricity Price Forecasting

Real-time Electricity price( RTEP) influence factor extraction is essential to forecasting accurate power system Electricity prices. At present,new Electricity price forecasting models have been studied to improve predictive accuracy,ignoring the extraction and analysis of RTEP influence factors. In this study,a correlation analysis method is proposed based on stochastic matrix theory.Firstly, an augmented matrix is formulated, including RTEP influence factor data and RTEP state data. Secondly, data correlation analysis results are obtained given the statistical characteristics of source data based on stochastic matrix theory.Mean spectral radius( MSR) is used as the measure of correlativity.Finally,the proposed method is evaluated in New England Electricity markets and compared with the BP neural network forecasting method. Experimental results show that the extracted index system comprehensively generalizes RTEP influence factors,which play a significant role in improving RTEP forecasting accuracy.
