Characteristics of Mechanical and electrical power Transmission for Small-Scaled Wind Turbine

Small-scaled wind turbine is converted to mechanical power of windmill to electric power by generator. However almost all studies seems to have overlooked converting relation of mechanical & electric power. It the reason for was very difficult establishing wind turbine system. In this paper, it is define equation of converting relation of mechanical & electric power. And it is verified by experimental methods. Defined equation will be used in developing electric devices such as inverter and controller in wind turbines. In addition this method can be used in the fields that utilize the rotational power into electrical power through generator.

Αcloud-based home electricity data-monitoring system,which is based on an Arduino Mega controller,is proposed for monitoring the electricity consumption(electrical power)and power quality(PQ)in *** system is also capable of monitoring the fundamental frequency and supply-voltage transients to ensure that the appliances operate in a safe operation *** measured data(voltage and current)are transmitted through a Wi Fi device between the Arduino controller and *** transmission control protocol(TCP)server is set up to acquire the high-data transmission *** server system immediately displays the calculated parameters and the waveform of the acquired signal.A comparison with a standard measurement device shows that the proposed system,which can be built at a low cost,exhibits the same functions as a factory product.

Fabrication of Variable Optical Attenuator With Low Insertion Loss

A voltage-controlled variable optical attenuator (VOA) based on silica-based planar lightwave circuits (PLC) was fabricated by flame hydrolysis deposition (FHD). The variable attenuator with Cr heater achieves 20dB attenuation with 318mW electrical power at 1550 nm. The insertion loss and the polarization dependent loss (PDL) at 0 attenuation are 1dB and 0.23dB, respectively.

Investigation on available wind energy at Tungku beach

In this paper, wind velocities and directions （sea and land） are recorded in different days and times. The data collected were compared with the weather data from the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Service （BDMS） and the findings of other researchers and were found to be in good agreement. The potential of wind energy is predicted from the available data collected. The average generated power （forenoon and afternoon） is found to be 25 （mean） and 18W （median）, 101 （mean） and 73W （median）, 912 （mean） and 660 W （median）, 10137 （mean） and 7331 W （median） for a rotor with a diameter of 2.5, 5, 15 and 50 m, respectively. The power density Pd for wind farming is found to be 0.26 （mean） and 0.19 （median）, 0.31 （mean） and 0.22 （median） for the rotor whose diameter is 2.5 and 50 m, respectively, while the average Pd values are found to be 0.28 （mean） and 0.2 （median） for the rotor whose diameter is 5 and 15 m.

Assessment of Peat Deposits in Rwanda

The peat deposits in Rwanda are distributed over an area of 50,000 ha and were formed about the end of last glaciations period. However Akanyaru peat is 20,000 years old and contains peat of glacial and postglacial period. The studies show that Rwanda has 155 million tons of dry peat which can generate electrical energy and this deposit is sufficient to meet country’s vast energy requirements for 30 years. Hence, it was felt necessary to map prospective locations of peat and their energy potential. The result of the study and assessment of peat to power in Rwanda show that the average in-situ ash content, in-situ moisture content and in-situ bulk density of the collected peat samples are 36 wt%, 70.8 wt% and 1112 kg/m3 respectively. Their average thickness ranges from 0.9 to 7.8 m. In Finland, peat was used as fuel in 1996 and produced 10% of total installed capacity. Rwanda has the same operational peat power plant in Gishoma: Rusizi District generating 15 MW connected to the national electrical grid. A peat-fuelled power plant is under construction and is expected to generate 80 MW. This plant, once completed, is expected to connect 50% more households into national grid. Thus, this effort along with other projects will increase electrical power from 208 MW to 563 MW in 2024. Peat deposit is expected to generate 500 Megawatt electrical powers for 30 years. Although an effort was done to use peat as fuel, the power plant is still vulnerable to the lack of good quality of dry peat to operate and thus efforts are on to develop suitable technology for exploitation.
