A fiber Bragg grating （FBG） hydrophone with high sensitivity was demonstrated. This hydrophone used a rubber diaphragm and a copper hard core as the sensing element. To compensate the hydrostatic pressure, a capillary tube was fixed at the end of the hydrophone. Theoretical analysis of the acoustic pressure sensitivity was given in this letter. Experiments were carried out to test the frequency response of the hydrophone. The result shows that when the Young＇s modulus of the diaphragm is higher, a flatter frequency response will be obtained.

The ultra-compact biosensor based on the two-dimensional （2D） photonic crystal （PhC） microcavity is investigated. The performances of the sensor are analyzed theoretically using the Fabry-Perot （F-P） cavity model and simulated using the finite-difference time-domain （FDTD） method. The simulation results go along with the theoretical analysis.

A type of combined optical fiber interferometric acoustic emission sensor is proposed. The sensor can be independent on the laser source and make light interference by matching the lengths of two arms,so it can be used to monitor the health of large structure. Theoretical analyses indicate that the system can be equivalent to the Michelson interferometer with two optical fiber loop reflectors,and its sensitivity has been remarkably increased because of the decrease of the losses of light energy. PZT is powered by DC regulator to control the operating point of the system,so the system can accurately detect feeble vibration which is generated by ultrasonic waves propagating on the surface of solid. The amplitude and the frequency of feeble vibration signal are obtained by detecting the output light intensity of interferometer and using Fourier transform technique. The results indicate that the system can be used to detect the acoustic emission signals by the frequency characteristics.

An equivalent circuit model for the analysis and design of terahertz （THz） metamaterial filters is *** proposed model,derived based on LMC equivalent circuits,takes into account the detailed geometrical parameters and the presence of a dielectric substrate with the existing analytic expressions for self-inductance,mutual inductance,and *** model is in good agreement with the experimental measurements and full-wave *** the circuit model has made it possible to predict accurately the resonance frequency of the proposed structures and thus,quick and accurate process of designing THz device from artificial metamaterials is offered.
