The study deals with the cooling of a high-speed electric machine through an air gap with numerical and experimental *** rotation speed of the test machine is between 5000-4000 r/rain and the machine is cooled by a forced gas flow through the air *** the previous part of the research the friction coefficient was measured for smooth and grooved stator cases with a smooth *** heat transfer coefficient was recently calculated by a numerical method and measured for a smooth stator-rotor *** this report the cases with axial groove slots at the stator and/or rotor surfaces are *** flow simulations and measurements have been done for the test machine dimensions at a large velocity *** constant mass flow rate the heat transfer coefficients by the numerical method attain bigger values with groove slots on the stator or rotor *** results by the numerical method have been confirmed with *** RdF-sensor was glued to the stator and rotor surfaces to measure the heat flux through the surface,as well as the temperature.

Accurate estimation of the internal temperatures of electric machines is critical to increasing their power density and reliability since key temperatures,such as magnet temperature,are often difficult to *** work presents a new machine learning based modelling approach,incorporating novel physically informed feature engineering,which achieves best-in-class accuracy and reduced training *** different features introduced are proportional to sources of machine losses and require no prior knowledge of the machine,hence the models are completely data *** using a standard experimental dataset shows that modelling errors can be reduced by up to 82.5%,resulting in the lowest mean squared error recorded in the literature of 2.40 K^(2).Additionally,models can be trained with less training data and have lower sensitivity to data ***-ically,it was possible to train a loss enhanced multilayer perceptron model to a mean squared errorelectric machines to improve operational efficiency,safety,reliability,and power density.

Accurate model identification and fault detection are necessary for reliable motor control. Motor-characterizing parameters experience substantial changes due to aging, motor operating conditions, and faults. Consequently, motor parameters must be estimated accurately and reliably during operation. Based on enhanced model structures of electric motors that accommodate both normal and faulty modes, this paper introduces bias-corrected least-squares （LS） estimation algorithms that incorporate functions for correcting estimation bias, forgetting factors for capturing sudden faults, and recursive structures for efficient real-time implementation. Permanent magnet motors are used as a benchmark type for concrete algorithm development and evaluation. Algorithms are presented, their properties are established, and their accuracy and robustness are evaluated by simulation case studies under both normal operations and inter-turn winding faults. Implementation issues from different motor control schemes are also discussed.

This paper presents a new strategy of embedded energy management between battery and supercapacitors （SC） for hybrid electric vehicles （HEV） applications. This proposal is due to the present trend in the field, knowing that the major drawback of the HEV is the autonomy problem. Thus, using supercapacitors and battery with a good energy management improves the HEV performances. The main contribution of this paper is focused on DC-bus voltage and currents control strategies based on polynomial controller. These strategies are implemented in PICI8F4431 microcontroller for DC/DC converters control. Due to reasons of cost and available components （no optimized）, such as the battery and power semiconductors （IGBT）, the experimental tests are carried out in reduced scale （2.7 kW）. Through some simulations and experimental results obtained in reduced scale, the authors present an improved energy management strategy for HEV.

An optimizing method of adding permanent magnet into synchronous reluctance machines for high performance is presented. The method enables torque components from reluctance and permanent magnet to reach an optimal combination so as to obtain a maximum efficiency, higher power factor in a wider speed range. Capability curves of synchronous reluctance combined with permanent magnet (SR PM) machines are described for different quantities of permanent magnet. The interacting principle of reluctance and permanent magnet torque is discussed. Simulation results based on an integrated model of the SR PM machine with a controller are presented to demonstrate the interaction of the two kinds of torques. Particularly, efficiency contours over the capability curves are illustrated to show the effect of added permanent magnet amount. An optimizing criterion for added permanent magnet amount in SR PM machine design is developed. Compared to induction, pure synchronous reluctance, and non optimized SR PM machines with same stator, the optimized SR PM machine shows higher efficiency in a wider speed range. 
