Understanding biodiversity and biogeographic distribution of soil fauna is an important topic in ecology.While nematode communities have been compared among Ecosystems,knowledge remains limited about how environmental factors and nematode distributions are linked at different spatial scales.Hare,we employed high-throughput sequencing to compare nematode communities in tropical(Xishuangbanna),subtropical(Ailaoshan),and cold temperate spruce-fir(Lijiang)forest Ecosystems with identical spatial sampling.Relationships between nematode communities and environmental factors were analyzed using redundancy analysis(RDA).Our results showed that nematode richness and diversity peaked in Xishuangbanna;however,no significant differences were observed in other two forest Ecosystems.Bacterial feeders and Omnivores/Camivores(Om&Ca)had the lowest relative abundance,but the highest diversity,in Xishuangbanna,with the opposite pattem being detected for fungal and plant feeders.Our data also demonstrated that,for forest Ecosystems,climate factors drive nematode communities distributions at the regional scale,while terrain and soil characteristics(including pH and nutrients)drive nematode communities distributions at local scales.This study improves our current understanding of key factors(environmental parameters)responsible for the biogeographical distribution of forest nematode communities at different spatial scales.

Methane (CH_(4)), a potent greenhouse gas, plays a pivotal role in the dynamics of climate change. While CH_(4) emissions have been widely investigated,biological removal of CH_(4) by upland soils has been less explored. Understanding the mechanisms and factors affecting CH_(4) oxidation in soils is of paramount importance for devising successful mitigation strategies. This perspective paper discusses different types of aerobic methanotrophs and their activities under varying environmental conditions, highlighting the significant contribution of soil Ecosystems to global CH_(4) sinks. We emphasize the need for in-depth research on variables controlling CH_(4) sinks on different spatiotemporal scales and the exploration of previously unidentified CH_(4) sinks, such as deserts and areas of glacier retreat.

In this study,we identified ecological pressures on grassland Ecosystems and adaptive countermeasures in Northern China.Our research revealed that the main sources of these pressures included population growth,economic development,resources exploitation,and global climate change,with human-related activities being overriding factors.Overgrazing was an important reason for grassland imbalance,causing soil erosion and desertification,especially during the sensitive spring greening phase.In steppe zones,commercial coal mining was destructive to the ecological environment.Regarding long-term strategies,we recommend that policy-makers devote more consideration to a new conceptual approach for transforming grasslands through shifting the focus from die grassland's traditional production functions to meir ecological functions.Applying this concept,adaptive countermeasures should be developed to reduce human impacts based on the environmental capacities of grasslands.Moreover,we recommend the development of environment-friendly industries and reduction of pressures from human activities as effective measures for maintaining the balance between sustainable economic development and grassland conservation.Lastly,we suggest that restoration of degraded grasslands should conform to the principle of natural vegetation to further improve the ecological adaptability of plants and ecosystem stability.This study is expected to provide scientific support for policy-makers engaged in grassland protection.

Soil stores a large amount of the terrestrial ecosystem carbon(C) and plays an important role in maintaining global C balance. However, very few studies have addressed the regional patterns of soil organic carbon(SOC) storage and the main factors influencing its changes in Chinese terrestrial Ecosystems, especially using field measured data. In this study, we collected information on SOC storage in main types of Ecosystems(including forest, grassland, cropland, and wetland) across 18 regions in China during the 1980 s(from the Second National Soil Survey of China, SNSSC) and the 2010 s(from studies published between 2004 and 2014), and evaluated its changing trends during these 30 years. The SOC storage(0–100 cm) in Chinese terrestrial Ecosystems was 83.46 ± 11.89 Pg C in the 1980 s and 86.50 ± 8.71 Pg C in the 2010 s, and the net increase over the 30 years was 3.04 ± 1.65 Pg C, with an overall rate of 0.101 ± 0.055 Pg C yr^(–1). This increase was mainly observed in the topsoil(0–20 cm). Forests, grasslands, and croplands SOC storage increased 2.52 ± 0.77, 0.40 ± 0.78, and 0.07 ± 0.31 Pg C, respectively, which can be attributed to the several ecological restoration projects and agricultural practices implemented. On the other hand, SOC storage in wetlands declined 0.76 ± 0.29 Pg C, most likely because of the decrease of wetland area and SOC density. Combining these results with those of vegetation C sink(0.100 Pg C yr^(–1)), the net C sink in Chinese terrestrial Ecosystems was about 0.201 ± 0.061 Pg C yr^(–1), which can offset 14.85%–27.79% of the fossil fuel C emissions from the 1980 s to the 2010 s. These first estimates of soil C sink based on field measured data supported the premise that China's terrestrial Ecosystems have a large C sequestration potential, and further emphasized the importance of forest protection and reforestation to increase SOC storage capacity.

The ratio of transpiration to evapotranspiration (T/ET) is a key parameter for quantifying water use efficiency of Ecosystems and understanding the interaction between ecosystem carbon uptake and water cycling in the context of global change.The estimation of T/ET has been paid increasing attention from the scientific community in recent years globally.In this paper,we used the Priestly-Taylor Jet Propulsion Laboratory Model (PT-JPL) driven by regional remote sensing data and gridded meteorological data,to simulate the T/ET in forest Ecosystems along the North-South Transect of East China (NSTEC) during 2001-2010,and to analyze the spatial distribution and temporal variation of T/ET,as well as the factors influencing the variation in T/ET.The results showed that:(1) The PT-JPL model is suitable for the simulation of evapotranspiration and its components of forest Ecosystems in Eastern China,and has relatively good stability and reliability.(2) Spatial distribution of T/ET in forest Ecosystems along NSTEC was heterogeneous,i.e.,T/ET was higher in the north and lower in the south,with an averaged value of 0.69;and the inter-annual variation of T/ET showed a significantly increasing trend,with an increment of 0.007/yr (p<0.01).(3) Seasonal and inter- annual variations of T/ET had different dominant factors.Temperature and EVI can explain around 90%(p<0.01) of the seasonal variation in T/ET,while the inter-annual variation in T/ET was mainly controlled by EVI (53%,p<0.05).

The software industry has evolved to a multiple-product development created on a platform and based on a common architecture integrated to other systems. This integration happens through components and third-party developers networks in Software Ecosystems (SECOs). Since systems and software development processes present challenges beyond the technical side, SECOs have emerged as an approach to improve the Software Engineering (SE) mindset in the industry. This fact changes the software industry as it requires the management of an integrated social-based environment to support a transition from an intra-organizational to an open business model approach towards a SECO approach. In this context, social networks can be important to coordinate a collaborative and distributed environment to develop SECOs platforms. This paper analyses the impact of social networks in SECOs through an integrated framework of the SECO and social network challenges. So, a proposal for a sociotechnical-based architecture to support the SECOs lifecycle is discussed.
