Objective:To define the alert levels for the total number of COVID-19 cases derived by using quantile functions to monitor COVID-19 outbreaks via an exponentially weighted moving-average(ewma)control chart based on the first hitting time of the total number of COVID-19 cases following a symmetric logistic growth ***:The cumulative distribution function of the time for the total number of COVID-19 cases was used to construct a quantile function for classifying COVID-19 alert *** ewma control chart control limits for monitoring a COVID-19 outbreak were formulated by applying the delta method and the sample mean and variance *** were selected from countries and region including Thailand,Singapore,Vietnam,and Hong Kong to generate the total number of COVID-19 cases from February 15,2020 to December 16,2020,all of which followed symmetric patterns.A comparison of the two methods was made by applying them to a ewma control chart based on the first hitting time for monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak in the sampled countries and ***:The optimal first hitting times for the ewma control chart for monitoring COVID-19 outbreaks in Thailand,Singapore,Vietnam,and Hong Kong were approximately 280,208,286,and 298 days,***:The findings show that the sample mean and variance method can detect the first hitting time better than the delta ***,the COVID-19 alert levels can be defined into four stages for monitoring COVID-19 situation,which help the authorities to enact policies that monitor,control,and protect the population from a COVID-19 outbreak.

A statistical-based online cross-system fault detection method for building chillers

Practical applications of data-driven fault detection(FD)are limited by their *** costs of model training and validation are extremely high when each system requires a model retrained on its own fault and fault-free ***,this paper proposes a statistical-based online cross-system FD method to address the problem of model *** proposed FD model can be cross-utilized between building chillers with various specifications while it only needs to update the original fault detection model by the normal operation data of the new chiller system,thus saving huge fault experimental costs for the fault detection of new ***,a theoretical basis for the proposed cross-system fault detection method is ***,experiments were conducted on three building chillers with different *** fault and fault-free data were collected from the three *** development and validation of the proposed cross-system fault detection method are then *** show that the cross-system fault detection models perform well when used with different *** instance,when the fault detection model of system#1 was cross-utilized to system#2,the detection accuracies of refrigerant leakage,refrigerant overcharge,and reduced evaporator water flow were 99.73%,90.17%,and 96.94%,*** with original models,the detection accuracies were improved by 33.78%,84.07%,and 65.56%,***,the proposed cross-system fault detection method has potential for online application to practical engineering FD.

Statistical process control has paid less attention to the possibility that the variance of the process may change over time such as economic or social *** generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic（GARCH） model here is put forward to fit processes with changing variances and the modified standard and ewma residual control charts are adopted for monitoring the residuals from the fitting model for the target *** developed approach shows more validity and ***,an example is provided to illustrate the application and the effectiveness of the proposed control charts.
