Semantic duplicates in databases represent today an important data quality challenge which leads to bad decisions. In large databases, we sometimes find ourselves with tens of thousands of duplicates, which necessitates an automatic deduplication. For this, it is necessary to detect duplicates, with a fairly reliable method to find as many duplicates as possible and powerful enough to run in a reasonable time. This paper proposes and compares on real data effective duplicates detection methods for automatic deduplication of files based on names, working with French texts or English texts, and the names of people or places, in Africa or in the West. After conducting a more complete classification of semantic duplicates than the usual classifications, we introduce several methods for detecting duplicates whose average complexity observed is less than O(2n). Through a simple model, we highlight a global efficacy rate, combining precision and recall. We propose a new metric distance between records, as well as rules for automatic duplicate detection. Analyses made on a database containing real data for an administration in Central Africa, and on a known standard database containing names of restaurants in the USA, have shown better results than those of known methods, with a lesser complexity.

Process safety in chemical industries is considered to be one of the important goals towards sustainable development. This is due to the fact that, major accidents still occur and continue to exert significant reputational and financial impacts on process industries. Alarm systems constitute an indispensable component of automation as they draw the attention of process operators to any abnormal conditi on in the plant. Therefore, if deployed properly, alarm systems can play a critical role in helping plant operators ensure process safety and profitability. How-ever, in practice, many process plants suffer from poor alarm system configuration which leads to nuisance alarms and alarm floods that compromise safety. A vast amount of research has primarily focused on developing sophisticated alarm management algorithms to address specific issues. In this article, we provide a simple, practical, systematic approach that can be applied by plant engineers (i.e., non-experts) to improve industrial alarm system performance. The proposed approach is demonstrated using an industrial power plant case study.

利用FAIMS法鉴别黄斑烟污染物的来源

为了鉴别黄斑烟中香精斑烟和料斑烟支污染物的来源,利用高场不对称离子迁移谱(FAIMS)法不同离子在强场(>15000 V/cm)条件下离子迁移率呈非线性变化的原理,使黄斑烟支上疑似香精污染物的离子团相互分离,得到待测物质的特征三维扫描图谱。通过图像相似度计算查找软件(Visual Similarity duplicate Image Finder),对比香精斑烟支污染物和对照样品三维扫描图谱的相似度,鉴别香精斑烟支污染物来源。料斑烟在经过样品处理后,可利用同样的方法鉴别。结果表明:人工分拣香精斑烟支污染物的FAIMS图谱和人造香精斑的FAIMS图谱相似度达到95%以上,人工分拣的烟丝湿团的FAIMS图谱和各类人造污染物的FAIMS图谱相似度约为95%,说明可利用FAIMS分析与鉴别香精斑烟和料斑烟表面污染物来源,且人工观察分拣黄斑烟支归类的方法基本准确。

Introduction: Several techniques have been described by which a pair of dentures may be replicated. Case Report: The method described in this paper used materials readily available in a private practice to generate a pair of duplicate dentures for a 74-year-old Black male, which captured all of the features of the patients’ existing pair. These were modified chair-side and used to capture vital information on fit, occlusion and aesthetics, forming a template which was transferred to the laboratory and used to generate new dentures via the traditional laboratory process. The same template was also used to generate a pair of “AvaDent Digital Dentures” by digital scanning and production of a digital denture template for try and then fabrication of the digital denture. Conclusion: The results of this pilot study show that this simple chair-side method of fabricating duplicate dentures can be incorporated successfully into the AvaDent Digital Denture fabrication process to generate a pair of dentures with comparability if not superior fit and aesthetics to a pair fabricated from the same template via the traditional laboratory process.

A novel mechanism was specified by which a node in ad hoc network may autoconfigure an IP address which is unique throughout the mobile ad hoc network. This new algorithm imposes less and constant overhead and delay in obtaining an IP address, and fully utilizes the available addresses space of an ad hoc network, and independent of the existing routing protocol, and less prone to security threats. Moreover, a new Join/Leave mechanism was proposed as an enhancement to the new IP address autoconfiguration algorithm, to support the overall operation of the existing routing protocol of wireless ad hoc networks.

Generalized algorithms for solving problems of discrete, integer, and Boolean programming are discussed. These algorithms are associated with the method of normalized functions and are based on a combination of formal and heuristic procedures. This allows one to obtain quasi-optimal solutions after a small number of steps, overcoming the NP-completeness of discrete optimization problems. Questions of constructing so-called “duplicate” algorithms are considered to improve the quality of discrete problem solutions. An approach to solving discrete problems with fuzzy coefficients in objective functions and constraints on the basis of modifying the generalized algorithms is considered. Questions of applying the generalized algorithms to solve multicriteria discrete problems are also discussed. The results of the paper are of a universal character and can be applied to the design, planning, operation, and control of systems and processes of different purposes. The results of the paper are already being used to solve power engineering problems.
