High penetration of renewable energies enlarge the peak-valley difference of the net load of the distribution system,which puts forward higher requirements for the operation scheduling of the distribution system.From the perspective of leveraging demand-side adjustment capabilities,an optimal scheduling method of the distribution system with edge computing and data-driven modeling of price-based demand response(PBDR)is proposed.By introducing the edge computing paradigm,a collaborative interaction framework between the control center and the edge nodes is designed for the optimization of the distribution system.At the edge nodes,a classified XGBoost-based PBDR modeling method is proposed for large-scale differentiated users.At the control center,a two-stage optimization method integrating pre-scheduling and re-scheduling is proposed based on demand response results from all edge nodes.Through the information interaction between the control center and edge nodes,the optimized scheduling of the distribution system with large-scale users is realized.Finally,a case study is implemented on the modified IEEE 33-node system,which verifies that the proposed classified modeling method has lower errors,and it is beneficial to improve the economics of the system operation.Moreover,the simulation results show that the application of edge computing can significantly reduce the calculation time of the optimal scheduling problem with PBDR modeling of large-scale users.

Aiming at the high-dimensional uncertainties of restoration process, an optimization model for distribution system restoration control is proposed considering expected restoration benefits, expected restoration costs, and security risks of the overall restoration scheme. In the proposed model, the effect of security control on restoration process is actively analyzed considering the security control costs of preventive, emergency, and correction controls. A two-layer decision support framework for distribution system restoration decision support system(DRDSS) is also designed. The upper layer of the proposed framework generates the pre-adjustment schemes of operation mode for energized power grid by load transfer and selects the optimal pre-adjustment scheme and the corresponding partitioning scheme based on the partition adjustment results of each pre-adjustment scheme. In addition, it optimizes the spatial-temporal decision-making of the inter-partition connectivity. For each partition, the lower layer of the proposed framework pre-selects the units and loads to be restored according to the pre-evaluated restoration income, generates the table of alternative restoration scheme for coping with uncertain events through simulation and deduction, and evaluates the risk and benefit of each scheme.For the uncertain events in the actual restoration process, the current restoration scheme can be adaptively switched to a sub-optimal scheme or re-optimized if necessary. Meanwhile, the proposed framework provides an information interaction interface for collaborative restoration with the related transmission system. A 123-node test system is built to evaluate the effectiveness and adaptability of the proposed model and framework.

The variability of the output power of distributed renewable energy sources(DRESs)that originate from the fastchanging climatic conditions can negatively affect the grid stability.Therefore,grid operators have incorporated ramp-rate limitations(RRLs)for the injected DRES power in the grid codes.As the DRES penetration levels increase,the mitigation of high-power ramps is no longer considered as a system support function but rather an ancillary service(AS).Energy storage systems(ESSs)coordinated by RR control algorithms are often applied to mitigate these power fluctuations.However,no unified definition of active power ramps,which is essential to treat the RRL as AS,currently exists.This paper assesses the various definitions for ramp-rate RR and proposes RRL method control for a central battery ESS(BESS)in distribution systems(DSs).The ultimate objective is to restrain high-power ramps at the distribution transformer level so that RRL can be traded as AS to the upstream transmission system(TS).The proposed control is based on the direct control of theΔP/Δt,which means that the control parameters are directly correlated with the RR requirements included in the grid codes.In addition,a novel method for restoring the state of charge(So C)within a specific range following a high ramp-up/down event is proposed.Finally,a parametric method for estimating the sizing of central BESSs(BESS sizing for short)is developed.The BESS sizing is determined by considering the RR requirements,the DRES units,and the load mix of the examined DS.The BESS sizing is directly related to the constant RR achieved using the proposed control.Finally,the proposed methodologies are validated through simulations in MATLAB/Simulink and laboratory tests in a commercially available BESS.

Peer-to-Peer Trading in distribution systems with the Utility's Operation

To realize a liberalized peer-to-peer (P2P) electricity market in distribution systems with network security, this paper develops a general framework for P2P trading in distribution systems with the utility's operation. The model is formulated as a bi-level programming. The utility's operation is an upper level problem, where a calculation method of network usage charges for P2P trading is also proposed. Peers' P2P trading is a lower level problem. An iterative algorithm based on analytical target cascading (ATC) is proposed to solve the model, where the interactions between utility and peers are presented. Numerical results on the IEEE 33-bus system demonstrate that the proposed method realizes a liberalized P2P market and ensures network security in distribution systems.

Moving away from fossil fuels towards renewable sources requires system operators to determine the capacity of distribution systems to safely accommodate green and distributed generation(DG).However,the DG capacity of a distribution system is often underestimated due to either overly conservative electrical demand and DG output uncertainty modelling or neglecting the recourse capability of the available components.To improve the accuracy of DG capacity assessment,this paper proposes a distributionally adjustable robust chance-constrained approach that utilises uncertainty information to reduce the conservativeness of conventional robust approaches.The proposed approach also enables fast-acting devices such as inverters to adjust to the real-time realisation of uncertainty using the adjustable robust counterpart methodology.To achieve a tractable formulation,we first define uncertain chance constraints through distributionally robust conditional value-at-risk(CVaR),which is then reformulated into convex quadratic constraints.We subsequently solve the resulting large-scale,yet convex,model in a distributed fashion using the alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM).Through numerical simulations,we demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the adjustable robust and conventional distributionally robust approaches by up to 15%and 40%,respectively,in terms of total installed DG capacity.

Research on Interpolation Method for Missing Electricity Consumption Data

Missing value is one of the main factors that cause dirty data.Without high-quality data,there will be no reliable analysis results and precise decision-making.Therefore,the data warehouse needs to integrate high-quality data consistently.In the power system,the electricity consumption data of some large users cannot be normally collected resulting in missing data,which affects the calculation of power supply and eventually leads to a large error in the daily power line loss rate.For the problem of missing electricity consumption data,this study proposes a group method of data handling(GMDH)based data interpolation method in distribution power networks and applies it in the analysis of actually collected electricity data.First,the dependent and independent variables are defined from the original data,and the upper and lower limits of missing values are determined according to prior knowledge or existing data information.All missing data are randomly interpolated within the upper and lower limits.Then,the GMDH network is established to obtain the optimal complexity model,which is used to predict the missing data to replace the last imputed electricity consumption data.At last,this process is implemented iteratively until the missing values do not change.Under a relatively small noise level(α=0.25),the proposed approach achieves a maximum error of no more than 0.605%.Experimental findings demonstrate the efficacy and feasibility of the proposed approach,which realizes the transformation from incomplete data to complete data.Also,this proposed data interpolation approach provides a strong basis for the electricity theft diagnosis and metering fault analysis of electricity enterprises.

To improve the resilience of a distribution system against extreme weather,a fuel-based distributed generator(DG)allocation model is proposed in this study.In this model,the DGs are placed at the planning stage.When an extreme event occurs,the controllable generators form temporary microgrids(MGs)to restore the load maximally.Simultaneously,a demand response program(DRP)mitigates the imbalance between the power supply and demand during extreme events.To cope with the fault uncertainty,a robust optimization(RO)method is applied to reduce the long-term investment and short-term operation costs.The optimization is formulated as a tri-level defenderattacker-defender(DAD)framework.At the first level,decision-makers work out the DG allocation scheme;at the second level,the attacker finds the optimal attack strategy with maximum damage;and at the third level,restoration measures,namely distribution network reconfiguration(DNR)and demand response are performed.The problem is solved by the nested column and constraint generation(NC&CG)method and the model is validated using an IEEE 33-node system.Case studies validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed model according to the enhanced resilience and reduced cost.

This paper aims at summarizing the evolutionary law of income distribution system and providing a reference for the coordination arrangement of primary distribution,redistribution and third distribution policies.Based on policies,this paper refi nes the evolutionary law of income distribution and estimates the proportional relationship among primary distribution,redistribution and third distribution by using the national income data.Its new insight lies in abstracting the evolutionary logic of the income distribution system shifting from emphasizing effi ciency to prioritizing equity and estimating the proportional relationship among the primary distribution,redistribution and third distribution.The study found that China’s income distribution system follows the evolutionary logic of shifting from efficiency to equity.In addition,China has overcome egalitarianism,given priority to effi ciency with due consideration to equity,and placed more emphasis on equity while balancing the relationship between equity and effi ciency,promoting the four stages of common prosperity.Primary distribution,the dominant mechanism for income distribution,is required to provide an equitable distribution order.Redistribution,an important means of income distribution,needs to increase expenditures on people’s living and social security.Third distribution,a useful supplement to income distribution,needs to design a policy system for incentive compatibility.This paper provides policy references for promoting common prosperity and conducting fundamental institutional arrangements for primary distribution,redistribution and third distribution.

Active distribution grids cause bi-directional power flow between transmission system(TS)and distribution system(DS),which not only affects the optimal cost but also the secure operation of the power system.This paper proposes a hybrid coordination method to solve the risk-aware distributed optimal power flow(RA-DOPF)problem in coordinated TS and DS.For operation risk evaluation,the weather-based contingencies are considered in both TS and DS.A hybrid coordination method is developed that entails analytical target cascading(ATC)and Benders decomposition(BD).Moreover,the risk-aware optimal power flow(RAOPF)in TS and risk-based security-constrained optimal power flow in DS have been performed using the BD method considering basic optimal power flow as a master problem,whereas N-1 and N-2 contingencies are considered as sub-problems.Different case studies are performed using the IEEE 30-bus system with generation reserves as a TS and a 13-bus system as a DS.The results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.
