Novel high-entropy perovskite-type(Ca_(0.2)Sr_(0.2)Ba_(0.2)La_(0.2)Pb_(0.2))TiO_(3)(CSBLP)ceramics with cubic structure of Pm-3 m space group were successful prepared by solid-state reaction method.Results of XRD,SEM-EDS,HRTEM confirmed a homogeneous distribution and equimolar arrangement of multicomponent cations on the A-site.The high-entropy CSBLP ceramics showed long-range structural order and short-range chemical Disorder with widely dispersed nanoscale grains varying sizes of 4-6 nm in the microstructure.Because of increased configurational entropy,the CSBLP ceramic has an enhanced Seebeck coefficient(|S|=272μV/K at 1073 K)and low thermal conductivity(k=1.75 W/m·K at 1073 K)when annealed at1300℃.This work demonstrates the possibility of effectively reducing thermal conductivity and improving the performance of thermoelectric oxides through high-entropy composition design.

We experimentally investigate the impact of static Disorder and dynamic Disorder on the non-unitary dynamics of parity-time(PT)-symmetric quantum walks.Via temporally alternating photon losses in an interferometric network,we realize the passive PT-symmetric quantum dynamics for single photons.Controllable coin operations allow us to simulate different environmental influences,which result in three different behaviors of quantum walkers:a standard ballistic spread,a diffusive behavior,and a localization,respectively,in a PT-symmetric quantum walk architecture.

Background: Posttraumatic stress Disorder(PTSD) is a common and debilitating Disorder among war veterans. Although complementary and alternative therapies are gaining acceptance in the treatment of PTSD, the efficacy of animal-based therapies in this Disorder is unknown. The goal of equine-assisted psychotherapy(EAP) is to improve the social, emotional, and/or cognitive functions of individuals with PTSD.Objective: This study aims to explore the effects of EAP on PTSD symptoms. We hypothesized that veterans with PTSD who participate in a standardized EAP program for 1 h per week for 6 weeks would experience decreased PTSD symptoms and would demonstrate increased resilience as compared with individuals who do not receive EAP intervention.Design, setting, participants and interventions: We conducted a sequentially assigned, two-arm parallel group trial comparing 6 weeks of EAP with standard, previously established, ongoing PTSD therapy.Therapy was conducted at a community EAP facility in conjunction with an academic University Hospital. Twenty adult veterans with symptomatic PTSD completed the study. Ten adult veterans with previously diagnosed PTSD were assigned to EAP and received directed interaction with trained horses for one hour a week in groups of 3 or 4 individuals, while also continuing their previously established therapies. A certified therapist supervised the sessions, and a professional horse handler was also present.Results were compared with those from 10 adult veterans who only received their standard previously established PTSD care as prescribed by their provider.Main outcome measures: Changes in salivary cortisol, scores for the PTSD Check List-Military Version(PCL-M) and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC) after 6 weeks of study were measured.Results: Of the 20 enrolled patients, 10 served in Afghanistan, 5 served in Iraq, and 3 served in Vietnam. Objective: Equine-assisted activities and therapies(EAATs) have been a growing adjunctive integrative health modality, as they allow participants to practice mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-mastery or self-esteem building skills. Preliminary evidence suggests that these programs may be helpful in reducing posttraumatic stress Disorder(PTSD), anxiety, and depressive symptoms. The current study examines the acceptability of integrating an EAAT program as part of a two-week, intensive clinical program for veterans with PTSD and/or traumatic brain injury(TBI).Methods: A family member or support person could accompany veterans and participate in the program.One hundred and six participants(veteran n = 62, family n = 44) left the urban environment in an intensive outpatient program(IOP) to attend a two-day, weekend EAAT in rural New Hampshire. Satisfaction surveys were conducted on the last day of the program and examined using thematic analysis.Results: The following themes were reported in the surveys: ability of horses to catalyze emotional rehabilitation, effectiveness of immersion in equine-assisted activities, program’s ability to foster interpersonal relationships and necessity of education about PTSD for staff. Participants also reported enjoying the program as highlighted by qualitative feedback, a mean score of 9.76(standard deviation[SD] = 0.61) as reported by veterans and a mean score of 9.91(SD = 0.29) as reported by family members on a 10-point visual analog scale with higher scores indicating a greater overall experience.Conclusion: These data offer preliminary evidence that an adjunct EAAT program is acceptable for veterans with PTSD and/or TBI participating in an IOP.

Background: Autism spectrum Disorder is a condition that affects all races, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. With a high incidenee ratio of one in every 68, it has become one of the most discussed psychiatric Disorders. For this reason, the need for investigating novel treatments has been emerging. Qigong, a traditional Chinese mind-body technique, has already proven to be able to reduce symptoms of several physical and psychological illnesses. Objective: The purpose of this systematic review is to examine and categorize the current scientific evidence regarding the efficacy of Qigong on children suffering from autism spectrum Disorders. Search strategy: A systematic literature search of the electronic scientific databases PubMed, Clinical Trials.gov, BioMed Central, PubMed Central and Google Scholar was performed to identify studies of Qigong in the treatment of children with autism spectrum Disorder. Inclusion criteria: This review included randomized controlled trials, replication studies, retrospective studies and observational follow-up studies of Qigong on children with autism spectrum Disorder. Case reports and case series were excluded. Data extraction and analysis: Two researchers independently evaluated the methodological quality of all included studies. Any discrepancies were solved by discussion until consensus was achieved. Results: Our literature search identified 157 publications, and 10 additional publications from hand search of references. After duplicate removal, 103 records remained. After the title/abstract screening, 19 publications were obtained for detailed evaluation. After detailed evaluation, 10 studies were included. Seven studies were conducted with small children with 2-6 years old employing Qigong massage, and three studies were con ducted with older children aged 7-17 years old applying both Qigong massage (one study) and Neigong (two studies). Neuroimmune system may be involved in the pathological process of bipolar Disorder(BD),but the essential association is not fully understood.Accumulating evidence has shown that BD involves the activation of immune cells and the release of inflammatory substances in the central nerve system(CNS).Meanwhile,neuroimmune responses also interact with other hypothesis of the etiology of BD that are widely recognized,such as neurotransmitter systems,neuroendocrine systems,neurotrophic factors,and oxidative stress.Simultaneously,related genes and immune changes in peripheral blood vary with it.Overall,neuroimmunity may play an important role in the pathogenesis of BD,and the inflammatory cytokines,especially interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha,have potential value for the clinical diagnosis and prognosis of BD,as well as predicting the therapeutic effects of drugs.Large-scale studies are needed to extend the evidence on neuroimmunity in BD,and to examine its clinical value for applications such as early prediction and treatment.

Mood Disorders/psychosis have been associated with dysfunctions in the default mode network(DMN).However,the relative contributions of DMN regions to state and trait disturbances in pediatric bipolar Disorder(PBD)remain unclear.The aim of this study was to investigate the possible mechanisms of PBD through brain imaging and explore the influence of psychotic symptoms on functional alterations in PBD patients.Twenty-nine psychotic and 26 non-psychotic PBD patients,as well as 19 age-and sex-matched healthy controls underwent a restingstate functional MRI scan and the data were analyzed by independent component analysis.The DMN component from the fMRI data was extracted for each participant.Spearman's rank correlation analysis was performed between aberrant connectivity and clinical measurements.The results demonstrated that psychotic PBD was characterized by aberrant DMN connectivity in the anterior cingulate cortex/medial prefrontal cortex,bilateral caudate nucleus,bilateral angular gyri,and left middle temporal gyrus,while non-psychotic PBD was not,suggesting further impairment with the development of psychosis.In summary,we demonstrated unique impairment in DMN functional connectivity in the psychotic PBD group.These specific neuroanatomical abnormalities may shed light on the underlying pathophysiology and presentation of PBD.

Major depressive Disorder (MDD) is the most common nonfatal disease burden world-wide. Systemic chronic low-grade inflammation has been reported to be associated with MDD pro-gression by affecting monoaminergic and glutamatergic neurotransmission. However,whether various proinflammatory cytokines are abnormally elevated before the first episode of depression is still largely unclear. Here,we evaluated 184 adolescent patients who were experiencing their first episode of depressive Disorder,and the same number of healthy individuals was included as con-trols. We tested the serum levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),IgE,14 different types of food antigen-specific IgG,histamine,homocysteine,S100 calcium-binding protein B,and diamine oxidase. We were not able to find any significant dif-ferences in the serum levels of hs-CRP or TNF-αbetween the two groups. However,the histamine level of the patients (12.35μM) was significantly higher than that of the controls (9.73μM,PDisorders,and antihistamine release might represent a novel therapeutic strategy for depression treatment.

Controlling interpenetration and flexibility behaviors is intriguing and fundamental for porous coordination polymers.We report exceptional interpenetration behaviors involving controllable partial order–Disorder structural transformations.A new bis-benzotriazolate ligand(NaH2sbbta)with a twisted and anionic backbone was designed and synthesized.The solvothermal reaction of ZnCl_(2) and NaH_(2)sbbta yielded(Et_(2)NH_(2))_(3)[Zn_(5)Cl_(4)(sbbta)_(3)]·6DEF(2)possessing two-fold interpenetrated anionic pcu networks with symmetry,shape,and charge different from the known analogues.More interestingly,powder and single-crystal X-ray diffractions showed that 2 can undergo solvent-induced structural transformation to form a noninterpenetrated anionic pcu network with larger pores(1).Consequently,1/2 can selectively adsorb/exchange cationic dyes fromneutral and anionic dyes with tunable size selectivity.However,since the transformations are reversible without obvious change of crystal sizes,the network that disappeared in X-ray crystallography should be mainly Disordered rather than decomposed.Further,the structural transformations can be suppressed by thermal decomposition/removal of Et_(2)NH_(2)^(+)/Et_(2)NH.Computational simulations indicate that the ordered and Disordered structures are stabilized by relatively large and small solvent molecules,respectively.

Panic Disorder (PD) is an acute paroxysmal anxiety Disorder with poorly understood pathophysiology. The dorsal periaqueductal gray (dPAG) is involved in the genesis of PD. However, the downstream neurofunctional changes of the dPAG during panic attacks have yet to be evaluated in vivo. In this study, optogenetic stimulation to the dPAG was performed to induce panic-like behaviors, and in vivo positron emission tomography (PET) imaging with ,8F-flurodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) was conducted to evaluate neurofunctional changes before and after the optogenetic stimulation. Compared with the baseline, post-optogenetic stimulation PET imaging demonstrated that the glucose metabolism significantly increased (P < 0.001) in dPAG, the cuneiform nucleus, the cerebellar lobule, the cingulate cortex, the alveus of the hippocampus, the primary visual cortex, the septohypothalamic nucleus, and the retrosplenial granular cortex but significantly decreased (P < 0.001) in the basal ganglia, the frontal cortex, the forceps minor corpus callosum, the primary somatosensory cortex, the primary motor cortex, the secondary visual cortex, and the dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus. Taken together, these data indicated that in vivo PET imaging can successfully detect downstream neurofunctional changes involved in the panic attacks after optogenetic stimulation to the dPAG.
