Pseudorhabdosynochus seabassi sp.n.(Monogenea:Diplectanidae)from the gill filaments of Latescalcarifer Bloch,a marine teleost fish held in floating sea cages in Guangdong Province,China,wasdescribed based on morphological observations and molecular *** shapes of the male copulatoryorgans(MCO)of Pseudorhabdosynochus *** the focus of this *** typical proximal part ofthe MCO in most species of Pseudorhabdosynochus is reniform,heavily sclerotized,and divided intofour ***,the new species from *** has a bulbous proximal region with fourconcentric layers of apparent muscular origin,instead of reniform structure with four *** organ is also different in diplectanum grouperi Bu,Leong,Wong,Woo et Foo,1999,which issclerotized,cup-shaped,wide proximally with four concentric muscular layers and tubular ***3’terminal portion of the small subunit ribosomal RNA gene(ssrDNA)and the 5’terminal region(domains C1-D2)of the large subunit ribosomal RNA gene(lsrDNA)were used to reconstruct thephylogenetic relationship of *** and *** with related taxa utilizing maximum-parsimonyand neighbour-joining *** analyses unequivocally placed *** amongstPseudorhabdosynochus using either ssrDNA or lsrDNA *** species of Pseudorhabdosynochus(including ***)used in this study clustered together,inferring *** on molecularphylogenetic evidence,we propose that *** from Epinephelus coioides Hamilton be transferredto Pseudorhabdosynochus as *** comb.n..
